A couple of samples comparing the HDR photo setting in iOS 4.1. These are the best examples I came up with; just like other tone-mapping and HDR methods, the results are mixed, depending on the situation.

Technical notes: no post-processing other than resizing full-size JPGs to 800px wide, exported from Photoshop CS4 using Save For Web, JPEG quality 80.

I’m in a bit of financial pickle. I decided to go freelance a little over two years ago and had one lucrative project (that still isn’t available for public consumption, sadly) that ended in April. Since then, I’ve been trying to find design work—freelance, office, a hybrid, it really doesn’t matter at this point—but have come up short. So I’m making t-shirts, in hopes of staying afloat a little longer.

Presenting: Folk & Roll.

The details

This concept came to me a few years ago, and I executed a rudimentary version of it for a music showcase put on by my pal Marie at Roughneck Music. I’d been wanting to do something with it ever since. With her blessing, I’m starting with a t-shirt.

I chose MySoti over other, perhaps more well-known alternatives because of the massive print size they support; 8”x10” is too small for what I had in mind, and they go up to 12.5”x17.5”, which is awesome. (They’re also the only site I’ve created t-shirts on that have sold, so they’ve already got a leg up on the others.)

I’ve kept the price reasonable, I think, and chose colors that I’d like to wear. If you have special requests for different colors for either the t-shirt or artwork, let me know via Twitter (@jbshop) or e-mail (shop@jasonbaldwin.us) and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request.

So what are you waiting for? Buy one already. And if you’d be so kind as to reblog or share the link to this post, I’d be most appreciative. You are my people. I love you.

1:07 of awesome. One of my fondest concert memories was when The Captain (Lane, not Morgan) and I went to see Grant Lee Buffalo at Bogart’s in Cincinnati. We found ourselves right up front, pressed against the security barricade in front of bassist/keyboardist Paul Kimble, who grinned when he saw us singing along to every song.

I could certainly have classed it up by making my own dough and sauce, but it was awesome just they way it was.
