Weight Loss in the past year

I was looking at an old running log yesterday. A year ago I weighed 213 pounds! Yesterday I weighed 162. That's a 51 pound difference! I didn't really feel that fat at the time but I guess I was. The thing is it really wasn't that difficult to lose the weight. More about that later!

Running 7.22.11

Denise and I got up (@ 3:40AM) and did our normal run this morning. Walked for 5 minutes; ran for 30 minutes and then walked for another 5 minutes. The problem was I was very tired this morning. I was ready to quit pretty early into the run... but I finished. Well I did something different this morning... I took my shower and then went back to bed for an hour! What a concept! I think I'll need to do that from now on because I actually feel rested. That's it for now.

This is business as usual for the government. What can we do? They don't provide a service that we can choose to use. They steal our wealth (taxes, fees and regulations) and then use the money to do violent acts against individuals. Do you think the Newark Police will find any wrong doing by the office? I would guarantee not. The most he will get is a paid vacation.

Well, the last shuttle just landed. I guess the celebration is about end of 30 years of government spending so Americans can fly around in space. Just think... the government extorts money from you through taxes, fees and regulations to give to others to make space ships... and they don't even give us a ride! Freedom is great isn't it?

Hunters first piano lessons

Yesterday Hunter started taking piano lessons. He's never really played before... except for playing with a keyboard that Denise borrowed from a friend. The instructor was impressed that he could somewhat read music already... I guess that's from playing the recorder last year @ school. Now the fun part (not really!)... purchasing our own keyboard and music books.

Running 7.18.11

So we tried running in the afternoon instead of the morning. The good thing was we didn't have to get up @ 3:40AM. The bad thing is it was much hotter; I was already tired from working all day; and I got a cramp in my side. We only ran half the time we normally do... we normally run 30 minutes... we only did 15 minutes on this trip. I guess we'll try it again and see if it gets any easier.

Raising the debt ceiling
So I don't understand this. There is a debt ceiling in place for a reason. The ceiling is their so that the government doesn't borrow too much (for our own good of course?). They've borrowed too much... so instead of being responsible and stop borrowing, they just want to change the rules so they can borrow more! When we do this in our personal lives, we just get deeper in debt and will never get out. The first thing financial planners tell you when you are in the hole in debt is to quit digging. So what will happen if the government loses it's triple A credit rating? Loans will be more expensive. I know that wouldn't stop the borrowing but it will hurry up the inevitable... bankruptcy. The sooner the government goes bankrupt, the quicker we could probably see actual freedom from our tyrants... either that, or the government will send it's troops door to door collecting money. What do you think?

It's amazing that this lady is getting charged with felony sexual assault and have to register as a sex offender!

She has basically done what the TSA does everyday to men, women and children. Most people see what the TSA does as necessary (I'm not one of those). They'll see what this lady did as despicable. What do you think?

Too many calories this past weekend

I blew my low calorie diet out this past weekend. It started with a trip to Mellow Mushroom Friday. Then the family reunion Saturday. Then 2 helpings is spaghetti Sunday. I'll need to get serious again starting today (Monday ).

Just completed my run and pushups for the day. It's 4:48 AM. I know that's early but Denise has to be at work early so we run early. We do this 3 days per week. We get up at 3:40 AM; walk for a 5 minute walk; run 30 minutes and then a 5 minute walking cool down. After that I do my pushups (Hundred Pushups program http://hundredpushups.com/)
