Green Tea has always been associated with health benefits due to its high content of flavoniods - plant derived compounds that are antioxidants, helping to halt the damage to cells and possessing disease-fighting properties. Studies have found an association between green tea and the reduced risk for several cancers including skin, breast, lung, colon, esophagus and bladder. Other health benefits include the reduced risk for heart disease and has been shown to help block the oxidation of LDL (bad) cholesterol, increase HDL (good) cholesterol and improve artery function.

Green Tea also has a high amount of polyphenols, which activates an enzyme in the body that counteracts the threat of excess triglycerides and blocks the fat from being converted. To further weight loss, one of the antioxidants called epigallocatchin gallate (EGCG) has the ability to stimulate the body's metabolism. The process of burning fat as fuel (energy) is known as thermogenesis.
