Storage of artwork

Store artwork in a place where there are no extreme changes in temperature or humidity.Store art (especially textiles) out of reach of insects and rodents.Store art paper, flat in an acid-free box.If they must be folded,refold them every six months to prevent permanent creases. Isolate them from mothballs or cedar chips with an acid free barrier such as a clean cotton cloth. Cardboard should only be used short term, as it is highly acidic.Acid is like cancer and will transfer from an adjacent item to the next. A professional picture framer can provide you with archival material that would be appropriate for long term storage.

Display

Avoid hanging any artwork (painting, prints, textiles, photography, leather etc) where it will receive direct sunlight or strong reflected sunlight. The ultraviolet light will fade colours and accelerate deterioration.Don’t display works of art on paper in a bathroom, basement, or on a damp outside wall where excess humidity will damage the paper. Refrain from hanging a painting over a fireplace where both heat and smoke will harm it. Inspect framed art periodically for any problems that could damage your art. Check that the bumpers and hanging mechanism are secure. Inspect the art for signs of mildew, insects, fading, or yellowing of paper.

Cleaning

Always handle artwork with clean, washed hands. The oils and salts in perspiration are extremely hazardous, even to metal sculpture. Clean the glass on a framed piece by applying non-ammonia based cleaner to a soft cloth, or facial tissue, and carefully wipe the glass. Acrylic glazing is particularly susceptible to scratching with paper towels never spray glass cleaner directly onto a framed piece of art. The cleaner can work into the frame which can permanently stain the artwork and introduce mildew. Keep sculptures clean by dusting with a soft cloth or feather duster. Don’t attempt serious cleaning of most artwork unless you have a thorough knowledge of the chemicals and their effects on specific materials. Don’t dry clean antique textiles or fibre art.By providing a safe environment you can ensure your collection’s survival and value in the future.

Quality Assurance

All products are guaranteed to be of the highest quality. If by chance you have found your item to be defective it may be returned for a 100% refund or replacement provided we receive notification within 7 days of receiving the goods.

Returns must be returned to Kiwi Gallery in the same condition as they were when you received them. Return shipping by economy post must be organised by yourself and you may have the option of replacement or full refund. The refund will include the original purchase price and all shipping costs. The refund will be forwarded to you when we receive the goods and deem them to be defective. Refunds will not be given if you have damaged the goods. This includes damage caused by inadequate packing when returning goods. Please include all relevant postal details and a copy of your invoice.

Please note - The artworks Kiwi Gallery sells are handmade. Materials can therefore vary in colour, shape and size. These inconsistencies are not deemed faults and claims will only be considered if there are defects in workmanship or defective materials.
