For Katie and her blue suede shoes, her dream of getting married at The Wren Chapel on the campus she visited growing up and walked everyday as an undergraduate had finally come true.  Surrounded by family and friends and under the direction of the incredible Liz Daley, two best friends and teammates became one.  We wish you all the best as you take on each inning of life together.  Play Ball!!

After a beautiful drive through Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and finally Pennsylvania, I met up with Jason and we headed off to the rehearsal dinner.  Lauren, Mitch, and their families were so welcoming and appreciative that we’d made the drive to be with them during their big weekend.  It was an incredible feeling to walk into a room of strangers and be treated like one of the family!

When the big day arrived, I hung out with Mitch, his incredible family, and close friends while they got ready for the wedding (Jason hung out with the ladies).  The wedding at Grace United Methodist Church was truly a beautiful moment and Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort provided an incredible backdrop for Lauren and Mitch to celebrate the start of their new lives together.  Congratulations to you both!  We wish you many happy years together!  Thanks for visiting us today.

When we first met with Megan and Jamie to discuss plans for their wine themed wedding, we knew shooting Megan’s bridal portraits at NK Winery would be the icing on the cake! When we contacted the staff at the winery to set up the session, they were so accommodating and welcoming. We’re so lucky to have such an awesome facility right in our back yard! Best of all, after her portraits were done, we helped ourselves to a wine tasting and even took a few bottles of wine home to enjoy over the holidays. One morning in early November, we got a call from a good friend, inquiring as to whether or not we were available to photograph a wedding in December. As it turned out, we were and were soon introduced to one of the most amazing couples we’ve had the honor of working with this year, Dana (Danni) and Mike. Their wedding had originally been scheduled for December, 2012 but due to a family matter, the wedding had to be rescheduled.

For most brides, the thought of having just over a month to plan their wedding is enough to trigger a cold sweat. Danni, not so much. With Mike, their beautiful son, Doniven, and her incredible family at Temple Sinai in Newport News at her side, the wedding plans fell into place one by one.

We were blessed to have had the opportunity to spend some time with Danni, Mike, and Doniven before the wedding and quickly realized what a bitter-sweet day this would be for them. For our last wedding of 2011, we wanted to close out the year by taking our photography to the next level. We think Danni’s facebook post says it all:

When Bernie, Laura, and their incredible families expressed interest in doing a short family portrait session, we were honored and excited! We made our plans to meet on a beautiful December afternoon at White House Landing in New Kent. Cold weather generally doesn’t mix with youngsters, Tyson and Lydia were no exception. After an hour of portraits, our little friend was ready to warm up… and Rachael was too!  Thanks for looking!

The New Kent Winery (which makes awesome wine btw) is such a unique and beautiful facility!  Built with antique, reclaimed building materials, the architecture and ambiance of the winery are inspiringly intoxicating.

Our time with this beautiful family at their home and the New Kent Winery was truly incredible for us and our friends, the Ruehle’s.  We are honored to have had the opportunity to work with them and wish them all the best in the future.

P.S. We even snuck in a mini senior portrait session for Katerina, the Ruehle’s youngest daughter, as she graduates from New Kent High School next June.  Thanks for looking!
