Combine a beautiful bride with one of the most beautiful wineries in Virginia and what do you get? A bridal session by Jayson and Rachael at New Kent Winery! Megan was such a beautiful bride and we’re so excited that we can finally share her bridal portraits with you.

When we first met with Megan and Jamie to discuss plans for their wine themed wedding, we knew shooting Megan’s bridal portraits at NK Winery would be the icing on the cake! When we contacted the staff at the winery to set up the session, they were so accommodating and welcoming. We’re so lucky to have such an awesome facility right in our back yard! Best of all, after her portraits were done, we helped ourselves to a wine tasting and even took a few bottles of wine home to enjoy over the holidays. Talk about a win-win for everyone! Megan and Jamie’s wedding at The Church of St Therese was truly incredible and a great start to 2012!

We love working with incredible people and Megan and Jamie were no exception. We loved their idea of having a wine themed wedding and we even suggested our favorite winery, The New Kent Winery for Megan’s bridal portraits, which were so much fun! The wedding was beautiful, the reception will be remembered by their friends and family for years to come, and we’ve heard the honeymoon was a blast. These were our favorites from their day. Dana and Mike Married at Temple Sinai in Newport News

A beautiful wedding at Temple Sinai in Newport News:

One morning in early November, we got a call from a good friend, inquiring as to whether or not we were available to photograph a wedding in December. As it turned out, we were and were soon introduced to one of the most amazing couples we’ve had the honor of working with this year, Dana (Danni) and Mike. Their wedding had originally been scheduled for December, 2012 but due to a family matter, the wedding had to be rescheduled.

For most brides, the thought of having just over a month to plan their wedding is enough to trigger a cold sweat. Danni, not so much. With Mike, their beautiful son, Doniven, and her incredible family at Temple Sinai in Newport News at her side, the wedding plans fell into place one by one.

We were blessed to have had the opportunity to spend some time with Danni, Mike, and Doniven before the wedding and quickly realized what a bitter-sweet day this would be for them. For our last wedding of 2011, we wanted to close out the year by taking our photography to the next level. We think Danni’s facebook post says it all:

When Bernie, Laura, and their incredible families expressed interest in doing a short family portrait session, we were honored and excited! We made our plans to meet on a beautiful December afternoon at White House Landing in New Kent. Cold weather generally doesn’t mix with youngsters, Tyson and Lydia were no exception. The Ruehle Family at New Kent Winery

We are truly blessed to work with such incredible people… and families! The Ruehle’s are absolutely no exception and our afternoon with them at the New Kent Winery was one we’ll all remember. When Mary Ann, the Ruehle’s oldest daughter, contacted us to discuss ideas for her families session, Rachael thought of visiting the New Kent Winery. So after a few portraits at the Ruehle’s home on the river, we packed up our gear and headed to the winery.

The New Kent Winery (which makes awesome wine btw) is such a unique and beautiful facility! Built with antique, reclaimed building materials, the architecture and ambiance of the winery are inspiringly intoxicating.

Our time with this beautiful family at their home and the New Kent Winery was truly incredible for us and our friends, the Ruehle’s. We are honored to have had the opportunity to work with them and wish them all the best in the future.

P.S. We even snuck in a mini senior portrait session for Katerina, the Ruehle’s youngest daughter, as she graduates from New Kent High School next June. Thanks for looking!

Alex and Larry rock the Sheraton Richmond Park South

When we first met Alex and Larry, long before their special day at the Sheraton Richmond Park South, we couldn’t help but feel as if we’d been friends forever. Like long lost childhood playmates, reunited after the road of life lead us apart years ago. The more we talked and interacted with them, the closer we became and soon, we found ourselves telling a friends story, not just a clients.

As we look back on their incredible wedding, we remember the awesome day had by family and friends alike. We can’t help but conclude that we are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends in our lives and are honored to have had the opportunity to tell the story of their incredible day. We wish you all the best as you began your new life together as husband and wife.

Thomas H. Redefines New Kent Senior Portraits

When Thomas approached us earlier this year about doing his senior portraits, we we’re not only honored, but stoked to explore something new. The goal for our first foray into the world of senior photography was to elevate the bar, create a buzz and get people talking about what, in our opinion senior portraits should really be. That is, a story about someone’s life.

When we met Thomas on the afternoon of his portrait session, his enthusiasm hit bottom as he buttoned up his tux for the infamous yearbook set. Having relegated his mind to more exciting thoughts elsewhere as our cameras snapped away, his parents beamed with pride as their only son took yet another step in his life. One they remember taking what seemed like just a few short years ago. When it was time for the tux to come off and our creativity was unleashed, it was amazing to watch Thomas’ interest in what most consider boring pictures for their parents, bloom with the excitement of an adolescent on Christmas Eve.

As the time passed, Thomas was simply being himself and best of all, loving every minute of it! Our goal of telling a story about Thomas’ life came to fruition before our lenses with every drop of the shutter. Statements of, “this is actually fun” and “that’s awesome” are usually not synonymous with a seventeen year old’s description of his senior portraits. Our task complete, we packed it in. Proud of our accomplishments and eager to share Thomas’ story with the world… or at least his family and friends. Thomas will graduate from New Kent High School in June of 2012 and plans to attend Virginia Tech in the fall.

Someone once said that a picture is worth a thousand words. We believe that pictures should tell a story, your story.
