A couple of weeks ago we took the unusual step to let our audience decide our new band name. We made a call for suggestions and then let our friends and followers decide the right one for us in an online poll.

Finally, the winning name is Trio Gafas, as proposed by our long-year friend Inma de Viaje, sometimes known by her stage name Loulou. We feel very comfortable with this name because it has actually accompanied us as a sort of nickname, when the original band name Igor Prochazka Trio felt too serious or unpronounceable. It has even found its way into our second album Bumpy, as a song title.

Thank you again, for all your fantastic ideas and for sharing this moment with us. Soon we will be back with fresh music and live shows.

Prize

If you win we will do a free concert at your home or anywhere you tell us to do it (not more than 75km away from Madrid city center), exclusively for you and your friends. It will surely will an unforgettable moment, without a doubt it will be for us, too.

¿How does it work?

The name has to be in English or Spanish and it has to be two or three words. We reserve our right to reject proposals, but only on the basis of being disrespectful or damaging. Please also take into account that no other band or music company can have the same name (please google before).

The proposals are collected as public comments on this post on our Facebook page. The proposal that has more likes on July the 23rd 2017 at 23:59h wins. In case of a draw, another tiebreaker round will be done using the same voting method.

In this article why explain why we are doing all this.

Small print: by participating in this competition you are accepting these terms and you give us the right to exploit the name artistically and commercially.

It’s been 10 years now since we started composing and playing together. Our love for the music and most importantly your interest makes us keep on, with more power than ever.

But we feel that the time has come to change something. It’s something that actually never made sense for us. The name Igor Prochazka Trio, besides being unpronounceable for many, follows a tradition in jazz to base the band name on a  front-man’s or soloist’s name. But here there aren’t any leaders or accompanists. We are a band. Each of us three contributes the same amount of creativity, effort and love to the music we play.

Soon we’ll ask you for help in order to find a good name. We’d love to hear your ideas.
