Katelyn and Scott Vegilante’s Wedding Cake

In the summer of July 20th, 2019 Katelyn and Scott got married at the New Haven Lawn Club. The bride and groom went with such a gorgeous design. Where they chose to garnish with a ton of fresh flowers on the two tiers. The flavor of the cake was definitely a chocolate lovers dream! Both of the tiers was our chocolate cake filled with a hand-whipped chocolate mousse. It was frosted in our French vanilla buttercream in a horizontal texture. Adding a buttercream texture to your cake is a very popular design at the moment. JCakes provided and placed a variety of fresh flowers. On the cake you will see blush roses, ivory ranunculus, pink peonies and dusty miller. We placed these on the top and one cluster between the tiers. Topping the cake off with a gold ‘Love’ topper that the bride and groom provided for us.

We loved this cake! The flowers were stunning and made the cake have a very nice rustic and elegant feel to it. The team at JCakes looks forward to help them out in more celebrations to come in their future!

Kim and Mike DiTullio’s Elegant Wedding Cake

Today we are taking a look back at a beautiful wedding that took place back in the fall. On Saturday, October 26th of 2019 Kim and Mike DiTullio celebrated their special day. They were married in a goregeous church and then headed over to continue the celebration. The reception took place in the Garden Room at the Woodwinds venue in Branford, CT.

We were so happy that the couple chose JCakes to be apart of their wedding day! Kim and Mike chose a three tiered vanilla cake filled with, our popular light and fruity flavor, mixed berry mousse. The cake was frosted in our smooth vanilla French buttercream. We bordered each tier with a beautiful black satin ribbon and a band of rhinestones.Topped with a custom topper that the bride and groom provided to us. Kim and Mike were a delight to work with and we look forward to be a part of their future celebrations!

Chelsea & Paul’s Wedding Cake

Chelsea and Paul were finally Mr & Mrs. on May 4th, 2019. A lot of details and time went into planning this special day. With guidance from the team over at Creative Concepts By Lisa, they were able to create a gorgeous wedding. Chelsea and Paul celebrated their day at the popular venue Lighthouse Point Carousel in New Haven, CT. The ceremony took place on the beach with a breathtaking view of the lighthouse. The decor was elegantly gorgeous and by the looks of it, everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves at their wedding!

The couple went with a simple, but very elegant design. Each of the tiers was frosted in a smooth buttercream. Their flavor option was our chocolate devils food cake with mocha buttercream in between each layer. As for the design of the cake, the top of each layer has an edible gold leaf border around the edges. Adding edible gold leaf allows the cake to have a very exquisite look to it. To top it all off we placed the gold “Finally Mr. & Mrs” topper the couple provided to us. Congratulations to Chelsea and Paul! JCakes is very thankful that they chose us to help them out on their special day. We are looking forward to many more celebrations in the future!

Erica & James Beautiful Fresh Flower Wedding Cake

On a gorgeous Sunday, June 23rd Erica and James celebrated their wedding on the water at the Owenego Inn, in Branford, CT. What was fun is they had a couple of dessert food trucks including alcohol flavored ice cream, Tipsy Cones. Another option they had for dessert was their three-tiered wedding cake consisting of funfetti and strawberry shortcake flavors. Our funfetti cake is always a fun flavor for both kids and adults to enjoy. Our strawberry shortcake is a vanilla cake base with two layers of pastry cream and fresh strawberries in between. If you are going for a lighter option this is definitely a good option to go with. The cake was frosted in our vanilla French buttercream.

As for the design of the cake, they kept it simple by choosing to frost it in a horizontal texture pattern and adding a variety of beautiful flowers. Erica went with the theme of garden roses, ranunculus, peonies, hydrangea, sunflowers, and delphinium on her cake as well as in her wedding bouquet. Her and their cake matched! The beautiful fresh flowers were provided by Koko Floral Design. Instead of a cake topper, they asked JCakes to place the flowers in a cluster on the top tier. The other flowers were placed in a partial cascade down the tiers of the cake. This cake was such a hit at the wedding and especially by our staff in the kitchen. We couldn’t stop admiring how gorgeous it all turned out. The wedding turned out beautifully thanks to Creative Concepts By Lisa for helping the couple turn their wedding dreams into a reality. It was a pleasure working with Erica and James. JCakes is excited to be able to help with more future celebrations in their lives.

Rob & Noel’s Wedding Cake

Rob and Noel celebrated their elegant wedding on September 1st, 2019. The event took place on the water at the Eolia Mansion at Harkness Memorial State Park. They had wonderful help from the team over at Creative concepts by Lisa where they helped plan all their wedding dreams. They even brought their dream of having a drag queen at their wedding come to life. The overall theme of the wedding was a contemporary and country style. The couple went with a simple design of a three-tiered horizontal buttercream texture. The frosting is in our JCakes signature vanilla French buttercream. JCakes provided and placed the beautiful green, gray and purple toned fresh succulents as well as air plants. Fresh Succulents and air plants were placed in a partial cascade along the side of the cake. The couple chose our most popular flavor for all three tiers, the mixed berry mousse. Our mixed berry mousse consists of a white chocolate mousse base with strawberries and raspberries throughout the mousse. The whole day went perfectly the lovely couple and the guests had a wonderful time. We were very grateful that they chose us to make their wedding cake for such a special day in their lives.

Amanda & Michael’s Wedding Cake

Amanda and Michael got married on July 3rd, 2019. They celebrated at the Light point House Carousel in New Haven. A lot of details and planning went into this special day. The team over at Creative Concepts by Lisa planned it all out beautifully. The venue was so unique with the carousel, it made the perfect backdrop for so many of their photos! The couple chose a three-tier cake for their wedding day. They decided to go with our most popular vanilla cake flavor, the triple berry mousse and frosted it in a textured vanilla French buttercream. Changing the texture of the buttercream adds for a more rustic look to your cake. JCakes provided and placed fresh ivory roses, baby breaths, beautiful succulents and greens to the cake. We loved the simplicity of this cake and we had such a pleasure working with the lovely couple. Another beautiful wedding in the books. We are so grateful that we were able to take part in and help with such a big moment in their lives.

Erin & Oliver Wedding at New Haven Racoon Club

Erin and Oliver got married on October 12th, 2019. They had the most intimate wedding at an unusual venue, the New Haven Racoon club. The team over at creative concepts by Lisa transformed the venue into such an elegant reception. They went with a golden cake filled with mixed berry mousse. As for the design, it was frosted in a horizontal buttercream texture and added a cute, little campfire topper to tie in the fall theme of their wedding. They had a few fun dessert stations that included kettle corn, candy, and cupcakes. Along with the cake, we provided the cupcakes for the station. The flavors they went with for the special day were 4 different ones. A chocolate cupcake filled with cannoli cream filling topped with a cannoli shell, chocolate cake with oreo mousse and a mini oreo on top. The other two were our golden cupcake flavors one with our mixed berry mousse garnished with a fresh strawberry slice, and lastly, a golden cake filled with white chocolate mousse and garnished with white chocolate shavings. All the cupcakes were frosted in our vanilla French buttercream. The spread looked amazing along with everything else about their wedding day. We are so pleased that we were able to help out with such a special event for the two. We look forward to helping with many more celebrations to come!

Football Jersey Cake at UCONN Rentschler Field

We made this awesome football jersey cake for one of our employee’s family friend. The jersey represents the Hamden Hurricanes, a football league that the birthday boy has been playing on for years now. This cake is covered in fondant with hand piped lighting details and to top it all off we added a hand-sculpted 3D football made out of Rice Krispie treats. The inside of the cake is our chocolate devil’s food cake filled with vanilla French buttercream. A flavor that is perfect for kids! The celebration was for Asher, who was turning 13. They threw him a huge Bar Mitzvah party where they were all shuttled to UConn’s Rentschler football field to finish off the party. Since the cake was for our employee’s family friends. She was the one to deliver and attended the party so she got an inside look into all the reactions surrounding the cake that night. Everyone could not stop talking about the cake. Asher and all his friends were amazed by it! She said she was even shocked when she received a hug from the birthday boy since it is a very rare thing for him to give out hugs. The party and the cake were a huge success. We are so glad we were able to be a part of such a special day for him.
