It has been almost a year since I took these photos of Shaun at Jesh's Enlighten Workshop. I have plans to post a few more photos from that experience with a full write up on what I learned. However, I pulled these out of the archives today and enjoyed the memories that came with them. These photos were all taken without speaking, part of the exercise at the workshop.

Mike + Meghan (Wedding)

Meghan lived in British Columbia and Mike in Alberta, but it was actually at Bible school in New Zeland where the sparks started to fly. After six months at School they both knew that something more was to come of their relationship, so Meghan made the move to Alberta and the rest is history.

Interestingly, when these two love-birds approached me about shooting their wedding their main concern was how non-photogenic they were and how boring they thought their photos would be. I'm so glad they had NO idea what they were hiding! This wedding was such a thrill to shoot. The weather was crazy that day with wind and very chilly temperatures, but nonetheless their connection was brilliant!

Gingerbread Craftmanship

This winter has really caught us off guard. In the last four years that we have lived in Canada we have not experienced such bitter cold temperatures (-25 to -30C). Of course this totally bums out any real chance of "on location" photography. Needless to say that the opportunities for photo shoots are greatly diminished, but this creates an excellent opportunity to work on other skill sets, like building the perfect gingerbread house. My daughter and I began early in the day by baking all our gingerbread pieces...waiting patiently for that perfect brown crispness. YEAH RIGHT. Maybe one day we will start from scratch, but for our first go at it we decided to use a fully stashed starter kit. From icing to jelly beans we found ourselves nibbling away at our creation as we built. Good times had by all!

First Time in the Snow

This weekend we bought our daughter a snow suit so she could experience the Canadian winter in full force. She had an absolute blast and even though her little mittens wouldn't stay on she avoided whining about it just so she could play outside longer. From a partial built snowman (the snow wasn't wet enough to stick) to a few snow angels...I would say we left our mark on the day! She even woke up the next morning wanting to put on her snow boots and build a snowman. Lots of fun in the snow ahead for this little gal! Here are a few pics from the outing:

Tutorial - Making Your Photo Pop

In this tutorial I wanted to share a few adjustments that I make to a photo in order to bring out that "pop factor". This being the first tutorial I have ever done, I would really be interested in any feedback that you have. I'm trying out different video services/players to see what would work the best for managing future tutorials like this. Hope it helps and leave a comment if you have a suggestion!
