Richard thank you soo much for taking the time to comment.

I love the Waterphone, the story of its creation, and its truly unique sound. It’s your “Art” that’s inspired me to showcase the world’s more exotic instruments.

I’ve had great fun introducing the Waterphone to friends. I describe its composition and various appendages with the intent of having them build a mental picture of the instrument then challenge them to remember an instance they’ve heard the Waterphone used in pop culture. The funniest part is having them mimic what they “think” it might sound like. I’ve often described the Waterphone as being played in film at the point of “realization”.

These same friends gather at my house for fellowship and to create artistically and often musically. I plan someday to add a Waterphone to our little group’s palette of tones and timbers.

Waterphones are used in a much wider range of movies than horror or science fiction. Due to the tunings and tone bending qualities the sound of the waterphone is THE mystery sound used in westerns, drama, and adventure movies. The demo posted is by Todd Barton who is a Master Waterphone player and a 3 time winner of the waterphone music competition.
