I colored the hedgehog and flowers with watercolor pencils and combined them with a sentiment from the Friendship set.

I purchased some more Penny Blacks sets that I plan to ink up tomorrow, including some images suitable for Father’s Day cards.

I watched Jill Foster’s PB & J video several more times, and learned a bit more about how to use the pencils. I also switched watercolor papers to a heavier paper that is preferred by Jennifer McGuire. Additionally, I used my water brush pen as a brush dipping it into the water. Filled with water, the brush was putting too much water on my image. I don’t have any Penny Black sentiments, yet, so I added one of my most used sentiments from the Hero Arts Essential Messages set to finish off the card.

To get familiar with the Reverse Confetti Happy Harbor set I decided to create a sampler with the images. I tried a lot of different inks on the stamps, finding that I liked the way that the Memento inks stamped, as well as the Fresh Inks, sold by Impress. And inevitably this process led to adding inks to my wish list!

I followed the same design of Kristina Werner’s that I used to make this card during the Online Card Classes Clean & Simple Card Making 2 course.

I colored the image with Copic markers, deciding, as I often do, that there are Copics I don’t own which would have been better color choices (I could own all of the E’s for example)! I spent a good deal of the weekend researching coloring techniques and combinations, as well as reading the blogs of talented artists including Kathy Racoosin, Elizabeth Allen and Jill Foster. I’m looking forward to trying out watercolor pencils as a next step!

I do not own the Simon Says Stamp die that Kristina used on her card, so I cut the three circles individually with a Spellbinder die.

I just couldn’t resist adding a couple of Googly Eyes. All of the papers are from the Echo Park A Perfect Summer pad.

It took me awhile to figure out which combination of papers from the Studio Calico Here & There paper pack would work best together. (It’s a fabulous set of patterned papers!)  I created the sentiment on my computer and die cut it.

Welcome back for Day Two of the Neat & Tangled May release! Today, I’m sharing two cards created with the “Sunburst” stamp set, one of three sets releasing this week.

For my first card, I stamped the sunburst with a Hero Arts mid-tone shadow ink and added elements from Just Thinking of You and Swirly Twirly Tags. I heat embossed the sentiment from Swirly Twirly Tags.

For my second card, I stamped the sunburst with a pigment ink pad. I added a stamped heart, which I die-cut, and a sentiment from Kindness Matters.

Although I often scrap seasonally, I scrapped the this layout about a vacation we took in 1995 because I found my husband looking at the photo on his computer. I figured that if it meant that much to him, it was probably a memory worth documenting! The photo was taken with a film camera, and we have a scanned version in our photo database.

This past month, the Simple Scrapper Membership took part in a “Stash Bash.” Jennifer Wilson encouraged us to use up our supplies in the process of organizing them. I had chosen these heavily themed papers by My Mind’s Eye a couple of years ago specifically for these photos of my husband during our vacation in 2006 to Belize.

Finally, I used the Story Starter – “Combine photos from different cameras on one layout to tell a more complete event story” –  to scrap a different memory from my wedding than I have in the past. The top photo is one that I took of my reflection in a mirror. Both of these photos were originally color, but I felt that they worked better with one another as black and white photos.
