No, you sillies, I am not holding a workshop. BUT. I am announcing a very special, wonderful, brilliant, over the top awesome workshop by Shannon Sewell. If you know of her, you are already in love with her work. If you haven’t, you will be within five minutes of looking at her lovely images. I was instantly drawn to her images when I was first introduced. She has a ridiculous talent of stylizing her shoots and then telling a beautiful story through her images. Her view from the camera is unique and you will find that you just. can’t. stop. looking. You can find Shannon’s work on her website and her blog.

Date: October 19th (Shannon will be holding her workshop here in Michigan for ONE DAY and one day only)

Time: 10-6 pm

Where: Metro Detroit area

Cost: $350

Lunch: Delicious and included!

Seats: Only 10-15 available

Who is it for: Amateur to professional photographers

What you will learn: Whether you need inspiration or nitty gritty technique details, Shannon will cover her vision of a shoot, business (including branding, pricing, networking, etc), lighting, equipment, styling, post processing, and working with models. Shannon has packed this workshop with the information that has made her such an incredible photographer. And rumor has it that the styling for the model portion will be “very vogue” and fabulous. Soooo excited about it!

I am bouncing all over the place lately…from babies to seniors, kids to commercial, and then weddings to newborns! It’s definitely “that” time of year. That time of year where photographers know all waking hours either have a camera stuck to face, or hiney glued to chair. Bring it on busy season! A sweet little babe as of late…

When I met these two at their engagement shoot, I knew I could expect an incredibly amazing wedding day. And of course, they did deliver. Over the top. I mean really…fedora hats and parasols? Horse drawn carriage? A gorgeous dress with an even more gorgeous bride inside of it? A handsome groom with a killer personality? Some of of the most beautiful locations in Michigan? And on top of it all, they have the sweetest love for one another and I was thrilled beyond words to be apart of their day

While I was upstairs with the girls, Laurel was hanging out with the guys downstairs.

I know. Awesome. Suave and smooth…I loved these guys!

While I was taking the above picture, Laurel captured one of my very favorite detail shots of the day.

Location choice for a session is always a big deal. It must describe you or your family as well as look good on your walls (where hopefully your images will end up). I absolutely LOVED this client, who is always thinking outside the box, when she said she told me her location choice. Great shooting spots and somewhere her family loves and can just have fun. However, the trick was to provide images that people would look at and think…cool location, I would have never guessed those were taken at the…

So, that is my game today…for you Michiganders or not…can you tell where we shot at?

That’s right…we were at the zoo. I’ve never photographed anyone there before and it was super fun! Loved the challenge of working around the masses, using random locations, and avoiding any images of them posing with a rhino in the background!
