She tends to eat breakfast up here because the light is good. In the winter, it is very warm and comfortable here.

A Kindle? What’s… The Dentist?

FRANNIE

They both move closer to examine their findings and RC fills them in.

RC THE GREMLIN
That KINDLE shows the title of the book currently being read… THE DENTIST is the first of a series featuring a detective who’s… as they say, on spectrum. She saw an interview with the author and then… a couple of clicks and it magically appeared here.

At this point, Dossie takes ownership of the KINDLE and is reading away. While she’s in her zone, RC glances at the clock.

RC THE GREMLIN
I gotta SCRAMBOLA… Get some things hooked up in the SHED so the guys can continue their experiments.

FRANNIE

RC THE GREMLIN
Nah… Joey and Doc are on a WEST CLIFF WALK FEETS excursion… which I highly recommend ladies especially around the time Katie leaves for her shift. Early AM great for surfers and birds and dog walkers and…

DOSSIE
Us!! Sounds grand!

She turns her attention back to the KINDLE as THE DENTIST story beckons.

FRANNIE
No worries, RC. I’ll keep an eye on her. Now YOU scurry along. You can tell us SHED TALES next time we meet up.

He nods and as they say… Takes his leave.

INT. KATIE’S WESTSIDE HOUSE – LAB/WORKOUT CORNER

Another stop he had to make before reconnecting with the Lab guys.
As he looked around Katie’s indoor WORKOUT zone, he noticed stacks and stacks of computer equipment.

RC THE GREMLIN
Never really paid attention before but… Quite the computer lab she’s got here. I recall her saying it sprouted out of necessity during the COVID lockdown.

During COVID the lab was born…

He explores and finds a box with POWER STRIPs.

RC THE GREMLIN
Cool and … I remember… Seeing my eyes… GEAR GUY has a super long ORANGE extension cord… heavy duty in the… GARAGE maybe…?

RC swiftly exits the LAB / WORKOUT zone but within seconds, is back…

RC THE GREMLIN
Gotta KNOW… That one… might could… so many… won’t notice if…

A Repurposed Special…

This time RC slowly exits while balancing a MACBOOK PRO.

RC THE GREMLIN
I believe… this was used when GEAR GUY presented to his group… at the FLY FISHIN’ club meeting, so … It oughta… well maybe…
It’ll be temporary… Just to get the 3by3 projection thingie going. This puppy is HEAVY STOUT… Not ideal but it worth a try…

DISSOLVE TO:

EXT. GEAR GUY’S SHED

RC approaches with MacBook PRO in hand and a SATCHEL-PAK full of cables. He stretches the ORANGE extension cord from the house to just outside the SHED, and smiles.

RC THE GREMLIN
Cool! Let’s get everything charged up so when they …

As he opens the SHED door, he is so stunned he almost drops the MacBook PRO in his astonished reaction to what he finds.

Playstation…??

It seems that TOMMIE and FRANKIE have set up a TV monitor and a gaming console. They are fussing with hookups when RC’s entrance casts light on their activities.

FRANKIE
Oh, hey there RC…!

Tommie’s eyes land on the outstretched extension cord and he immediately plugs it into the POWER STRIP and presses the ON switch.

RC THE GREMLIN
Good morning to you too Mr TOMMIE…

Of course, our deaf MAD INVENTOR hasn’t heard the greeting. However the joy of power garners RC a nod.

FRANKIE
Thanks, RC! Your timing is perfect.

The PLAYSTATION is being fired up and they stand back while Tommie gets it going.

RC THE GREMLIN
It’s amazing how he can just…

Got the power…

FRANKIE
Right…?

RC THE GREMLIN

FRANKIE
He did. A pile over there (he points). Somehow… I just know that when I woke up, he was running around playing with all kinds of…

Points around the Shed.

FRANKIE
Gear Guy is apparently quite the GADGET GUY too…

All that equipment…!

RC THE GREMLIN
Yes, and… Very particular about his stuff so best to steer clear… direct his attention AWAY as the temptation WILL BE great to play with…

He points to the shelf with the HAM RADIO EQUIPMENT and the STARLINK PORTABLE KIT.

FRANKIE
That is…

RC whispers.

RC THE GREMLIN
An extensive collection of Ham Radio equipment and that (he points) is Gear Guy’s Starlink.

FRANKIE
No need to whisper, remember?

RC THE GREMLIN
Oh… Right…

FRANKIE
Starlink you said…?

Frankie scrambles for his RAZR and fires it up to show a page with details. He reads while showing RC.

FRANKIE
Starlink Mini is a compact, portable Kit with a built-in router that can easily fit in a backpack, designed to provide fast, reliable internet on the go.

RC THE GREMLIN
As I was saying… Steer clear… Re-direct. Please…

Then again, if he gets the PLAYSTATION going that might do the trick.

Frankie nods and RC shows him the MacBook PRO.

RC THE GREMLIN
If he DOES get bored, get him to play with this. The WiFi should reach and maybe THIS will drive that cute 3by3 projector.

FRANKIE
I gotcha. He’ll complain about the size, but…

RC THE GREMLIN
Tell him its a FIRST THINGS FIRST approach. And… I’ll have Doc and Joey help you run block. When the time comes, we might be able to sneak Tommie into the truck for a DRIVE-ABOUT with GEAR GUY so he can experience all this cool equipment and then… one of you… whoever tags along, can lend a second set of ears — literally — just to make sure we don’t MUCK with anything that’ll …

FRANKIE
Piss him off…?

RC THE GREMLIN
He hearts his gear… Thus the reason the NO GIRLZ sign is on the door.

Shed? What shed…?

FRANKIE
Gotcha, RC!

RC bows.

I believe my work here is done.

FRANKIE
Got it… Now you… Get yourself a snack or something. Check in later. We’re good.

And so it was that FRANNIE and DOSSIE eased their way into their new abode as they were housemates / house guests of Katie and her husband GEAR GUY.

They were respectful… especially making sure to select areas where the the couple weren’t — giving them their space while, of course, at quietly observing.

It also, so happened that after Katie bounced out the door for her early shift, the KITCHEN was wide open for hanging out — and hang they did.

DOSSIE
This is where she does her daily 3Rs Routine ? Here… at this fine table?

FRANNIE
Yeah… Check out the setup. Look familiar?

DOSSIE
Well… yeah… Like back in the Suit days except… something’s missing…

There’s a pause as they glance about.

FRANNIE
Newspapers… remember? The stacks…? She was always…

DOSSIE
Yeah… Part of her routine lots of dailies and I believe… THE WALL STREET JOURNAL too. Reading that since her time at university…

FRANNIE
She loved poring through those newspapers. Can’t imagine THAT would be something she’d drop.
Let’s keep looking. Maybe she’s got a new way of stacking and storing them.

It’s quiet as they explore and then…

DING! Happens…

DOSSIE
Wait a minute… Is it possible that… Slabby thing?

FRANNIE
Huh… Could… THAT be like a KINDLE for newspapers?

They look around some more and locate an iPAD nearby getting charged up.

FRANNIE
Interesting… We never … Only watched her drawing on it, but maybe…

DOSSIE
Let’s give it a look.

Slabby ready to explore…

So they maneuver the SLABBY THING to the kitchen table, fire it up and settle in.

FRANNIE
Those little TILE things. See? Looks like…

DOSSIE
Like… Let’s tap on ‘em…

Just then the sound of a chair scraping the floor gets their attention. At the same time they say…

RC!!

RC THE GREMLIN
Uh… Top of the mornin’ Ladies! I trust you’re enjoying your Airbnb-like accommodations…

DOSSIE
Lovely… The hosts are wonderful and…

She smiles and nods.

FRANNIE

DOSSIE
Newspapers… Our Katie… Back in the day…

RC laughs…

RC THE GREMLIN
No worries… She’s still getting her fill of dailies AND The Journal. Hasn’t changed THAT much.
Routine similar but different –that’s all.

He motions for the SLABBY THING.

RC THE GREMLIN

RC THE GREMLIN

So RC gives them a quick orientation — Showing the new way of reading the WSJ and also, how to get the screen back to where Katie left it.

When they hit a nice stopping point, they all push back from the table.

DOSSIE
Impressive!

FRANNIE
Game changer. All makes sense now.

And that’s when they notice on the countertop, what RC had carried into the room.

DOSSIE
Is that…? A mini version of…

Points to the “MINI” SLABBY THING RC left on the counter.

FRANNIE
And… a LAY FLAT? Which appears to be … a MANGA?

Dossie reaches for the MANGA and flips it open.

DOSSIE
Ah! A back-to-front reading manga in… FRENCH! Now that’s…

FRANNIE
Wait… What?

Lay Flat Manga…

Opened up…

Frannie studies it too.

DOSSIE
Your turn, Mr RC. Please to enlighten us, if you don’t mind.

RC THE GREMLIN
Well… I was just heading back to the Lab slash indoor cycling area to return these… Been there yet?

The ladies look at each other and then back at RC.

RC THE GREMLIN
Follow me…!

And so it was that RC gave the ladies an INTRODUCTORY TOUR of yet another room in Katie and Gear Guy’s Westside house.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT. KATIE’S WESTSIDE HOUSE – LAB/WORKOUT CORNER

RC THE GREMLIN
The MINI… lives here.

He starts to insert puts back onto the stand next to the exercise bike and then stops. Pushing the button, he checks the screen.

They both give him a look.

RC THE GREMLIN
Just thought… Checking the charge percentage number. Retrieved these things from THE SHED, so knowing those guys… Probably drained it pretty good.

Scans the screen.

RC THE GREMLIN
Can confirm! So…

While looking for the charger cable, Dossie gently pulls the MINI away and repeats the motions learned from the one in the kitchen.

DOSSIE
Ah… Very interesting…

She holds up the MINI to show Frannie and RC.

Manga-On-Mini…

FRANNIE
Looks like…

DOSSIE
MANGA on MINI.

MANGA on MINI !!

FRANNIE
Mini Manga! Really…? Huh… So you retrieved from the shed a FRENCH LAY-FLAT and also MINI MANGA…?
Even for Joey, that’s a lot to take in.

Looking at the MINI, Dossie taps and then plays with swiping. RC looks over her shoulder.

“Sea” for yourself…

FRANNIE
HARD BOILED COP & DOLPHIN?

RC THE GREMLIN
Not familiar with this one…

He pulls out his RAZR and searches.

RC THE GREMLIN
Let’s see… Created by Ryuhei Tamura and…

Mumbles some and then reads aloud:

RC THE GREMLIN
…a reckless loose cannon who thinks he’s in some sort of hard-boiled cop film or novel… (mumbles some more) or …erratic behavior gets him shipped off to remote island (mumbles some more) …

Frannie gently extracts the RAZR from RC and continues to read aloud:

FRANNIE
…This ocean paradise is anything but idyllic. The island is in the middle of a mass disappearance case involving a sea-worshipping cult, and their oracle—a feisty toddler said to have been raised by a dolphin—is in police custody.

Now Dossie borrows the RAZR to see for herself and continuing reading aloud:

DOSSIE
And Samejima … The banished cop’s name is SAMEJIMA… is … partnered with… a dolphin?!

They all pause to ponder while another tap opens to a short video.

RC THE GREMLIN
Really?? That sounds like the perfect gateway MANGA, if you ask me.

They all study the screen some more.

DOSSIE
Makes sense actually.

FRANNIE
He’ll get hooked too … Which means… They’ll both come flying in here to retrieve …?

RC smiles with a twinkle in his eye.

RC THE GREMLIN
Bought us some time. Besides… That reminds me… Let’s go…

He points up the stairs. The ladies hesitate.

RC THE GREMLIN
What… Gear Guy? You’re worried about Gear Guy?

FRANNIE
We’ve been good about … giving them their space and all…

RC THE GREMLIN
No worries! Truck’s gone. He … on another adventure or something?

DOSSIE
Huh? I guess we could’ve…

FRANNIE
Missed it… missed him leaving…

DOSSIE
We’re guilty of zoning out too ya know… Not just a JOEY thing.

RC THE GREMLIN
Right then… now follow me… another tour you’ll need…

And off they went.

Sunrise… The call of the waves and sea birds and… well… Our two MANGA READING pals have now been summoned to head West as in… WEST CLIFF (with an assist by RC the GREMLIN / STORYTELLER).

RC THE GREMLIN
Mornin Gents! It’s TIME!

Both JOEY and DOC, members of the JEDEMI LP GANG hanging out in the TUF SHED at former Suit KATIE’S WESTSIDE house, look up to see RC lighting up the place with a huge smile.

RC THE GREMLIN
Time to get a move on my friends… Surfers have already… gotten their fair share of rides this day and…

He cups his ear (which is actually a funny look) and causes Doc and Joey to look at each other with a grin and then back at RC.

RC THE GREMLIN
Hear it? It’s calling you… And soon enough… you’ll smell your nose the fine scents of the sea… a throwback to your past, yes?

Both Doc and Joey nod.

RC points the direction.

RC THE GREMLIN
Downhill. Follow your nose and ears… Can’t miss it. AND, since it IS uphill coming back here to your SHED SHACK… I’m sure ZUP your pilot pal will magically appear and JOBY DRONE you home…

Then RC glances at the IPPO LAY FLAT and the iPAD MINI.

RC THE GREMLIN
Gonna do ya a solid, and put those back so she doesn’t notice…

DOC
She’ll just blame you anyway, right?

RC THE GREMLIN
Yes, and… Looks like I’ll already be taking a few hits this day as…

He points to the other corner of the SHED.

JOEY
Conked out…

RC THE GREMLIN
Their brains AND their devices most likely…

RC holds up a YELLOW NOTEPAD he noticed, and points…

JOEY
The notes… falling off the page.

RC THE GREMLIN
Yup, but from what I can sort out… The RAZR doesn’t play well with that little 3by3 projector.

Can’t make out…

Shows the notes to Doc and Joey.

DOC
Actually… I DID hear them saying something about a OnePLUS they found over (points to the shelf with the HAM RADIO equipment) doesn’t work either…

A Glance inside…

RC THE GREMLIN
I’m sure when they wake…

They look for signs of activity.

RC THE GREMLIN
Let me do my thing here while you guys get a move on… This really IS the best time of day. You gotta SEA for yourself, my friends!

He laughs as he shoos them away.

And after Doc and Joey bound down the street, he shifts his attention to TOMMIE & FRANKIE’s immediate needs.

And indeed, our MANGA-READERs JOEY and DOC found their way to the SEA and are having a nice chat as they wander along West Cliff.

JOEY

DOC
You mean… FRESH AIR…? You’ve been deprived for so long…
Is it giving you a HIGH or something?

JOEY
Energizing! Perhaps more akin to when runners train in altitude… without oxygen and then come back to race at sea level.

Doc nods as they walk along some more enjoying their surroundings. Then Doc smiles and starts laughing.

JOEY
Uh… Want to share with the class?

DOC
Oh… Sure… Okay… Something popped into my mind and… Serendipity … we talk about it a lot.

JOEY
As in…making fortunate discoveries by accident…

DOC
Yeah… The fact or occurrence of such discoveries… Which to me leads to that VIV thing…

A Viv thing…

Doc motions like an antenna on the top of the head.

Remember how… She’d DING! when a connection was made?

Joey nods. Then Doc points out to the sea as they continue to breathe in more of the fresh air.

JOEY
So…?

DOC
SEA-rendipity!!

SEA what I See…?

They both laugh.

DOC
Think about it… fresh air… No interference from devices and the like… moving… gliding along West Cliff taking it all in… And then… it happens…

A pause and then…

JOEY
DING!! HAPPENS…

RC knows a DING!! or two…

DOC
A connection is made! DING!! happens when you are … here…

… A connection is made! DING!! happens when you are HERE…

JOEY
Yes, and… in the woods… on a trail like CREEKSIDE…

Doc looks out at the water …

DOC
Kinda diggin’ the SEA-RENDIPITY thing…

SEA my eyes…

He pauses as a visual of the MINI MANGA (HARD BOILED COP & DOLPHIN) seems to appear in the ripples of the water.

Doc shakes his head and laughs.

DOC
Well … not surprised THAT just…

JOEY
Whatcha see, pal?

DOC

Well… that MINI MANGA is calling me, so we’ll need to sneak it out again.

JOEY
On it! Will coordinate with RC.

Joey watches as Doc is now pointing to where the waves are washing over a piles of rocks…

DOC
Glad RC shoo-d us down here… As… this is where I need to be… Where I need to RECHARGE… and be OPEN so SEA-RENDIPITY can happen…

JOEY
Well stated and I concur 100%. I did what I did… maybe a bit obsessive with that MANGA QUEST, but trust me, the immersion helped and Yes, deep dives are okay from time to time. That being said…

DOC
Borderline unhealthy. You were like… the kids get when a new video game is released. Gotta play it all the way through… at least that’s what I read.

They pause at a bench with a great view of the SURFERS and SEA LIFE. It is quiet and then after a while, Doc speaks up…

DOC
It’d be good to have you back in the mix… interacting… sharing stories… Heck, I’ll bet RC in his other persona would really welcome some quality time with you.

JOEY
RC the Storyteller! We’ve heard so much. I imagine he’s prepping for another season @TheSEA.

DOC
So circling back around… How do we…? Help each other enjoy the JOYS of Manga while keeping in sync with our crew…

JOEY
And KATIE and her crew…

DOC
While also staying true to our overall mission:

There’s silence as they both stare out at the sea and then it happens — the DING!THING…

JOEY
Got to…Snag a TIMER… That’s KATIE’s thing… part of her FRAMEWORK…

DOC
Yup! Not just for DragonBustRs. We can benefit too!

JOEY
Guess we’d be a proof-point too!

DOC
That’s cool! Let’s tap the skills of the resourceful one, RC.

JOEY
R-is for RESOURCEFUL…

DOC
Today it is for sure. Let’s snag TWO in case we get separated.

Joey gives him a look.

DOC
It COULD happen…

Looking towards the water, they notice most of the surfers have exited.

JOEY
Perhaps we should…

DOC
Yes, and… Maybe tomorrow we can… ?

Points to the Wharf. Cupping their ears… the faint sounds of sea lions barking.

Joey nods.

JOEY
Shall we…?

Standing, he points back towards the hills. The sound of an approaching JOBY DRONE can be heard.

DOC
How’s that for timing?

Wow! “SEA” what we mean? So much is happening… developing on this side of the Hill. We could say “TooMGS!” as in “Too Much Good Stuff,” but really… Is it?

And so it was that former Suit KATIE and her husband GEAR GUY ended up hosting the GANG from JEDEMI for an open-ended period of time (well, actually… until the remodel of their home base over the hill is complete).

They seem to be pleased with the accommodations with the TUF SHED of Gear Guy’s being a fairly comfy hangout spot.

The MAD INVENTOR / INNOVATOR TOMMIE has taken up the challenge of getting that little 3 x 3 MAGIC BOX working that allegedly project images (small but mighty?). Doing so opens up a world of options or so was the thinking of FRANKIE, FRANNIE and DOC.

But Doc also is intrigued by this MANGA thing that has stolen JOEY from him — from them. So after watching Tommie and Frankie fiddle around a bit working on getting the MAGIC BOX working, Doc makes his way to another corner of the SHED where up in the “STACKS” – on top of one of the shelving units, JOEY can again be found settled into MANGA reading.

Uh… I thought we got you away from…

Joey, as usual, is locked in and doesn’t initially notice Doc’s presence. And Doc maneuvers himself to a point where he can look over Joey’s shoulder to see what’s got his attention.

DOC INTERNAL
FRENCH…? Really?

Lay-Flat Manga in French…?!?

Pauses to observe some more.

DOC INTERNAL

DOC

Time flies when you’re having fun, and FUN is certainly what was being had by RC the Gremlin / Storyteller who’s active imagination was in “over-ride” — so much that it’s a wonder he wasn’t “squished” during his WANDERINGS…

Anyway, WANDERING down MISSION (not necessarily ON a mission) he looked up to see a familiar vehicle — and better yet, one with a “badge” that seemed to brighten up the place. Traffic is crawling as usual, so he easily catches up and taps on the passenger side window which is open halfway.

The driver smiles and presses the unlock.

RC is about to open the front door when she motions for him to sit in the back. He laughs.

Hopping in, he glances at the co-pilot seat.

RC THE GREMLIN
Uh… Where ya heading, sister?

“Sister” is Happy Barista / Uber Driver KIMBA.

KIMBA
Auntie needs a ride AND also…

Points to the passenger seat.

KIMBA
She’s addicted to SCONES… Safeway scones! Go fig, right? Anyway, if you don’t time it right, only the cinnamon chip are left… her least favorite.

RC THE GREMLIN
Oh… Okay… Cool !!

RC eyes the package.

RC THE GREMLIN
Er… cinnamon… Guess maybe… She won’t be pleased then?

Kimba bows here head and shakes it side-to-side.

KIMBA
Actually, RC, it gets worse… Found out… SAFEWAY is discontinuing scones. According to the worker there, the fruit turnovers are a hit, so the cinnamon ones ARE it until they change over completely.

They drive along in silence for a bit.

KIMBA
I dread breaking the news. Need a… Gotta have a… PLAN B, so when I do tell her, I can offer an alternative she can… warm up to…

RC lets her talk.

KIMBA
I’m learning… You know… with seniors… ya can’t be changing things… they like… for example… the routine of BLUE BLOODS Friday nights. That’s must see… ON Friday night. Has to be!!

RC gives her a look.

RC THE GREMLIN
Really?

KIMBA
Yeah… and the thing is… it’s LATE… like I can’t even stay awake. I offered to DVR tape it for her…

RC THE GREMLIN
Yes, and…?

KIMBA
So NOT an option as she doesn’t know how to get it to play AND has little patience. That means… she stays up to watch and then sleeps all Saturday until the golf comes on.

Kimba is shaking her head. RC is nodding and then looks up to see that they’ve hit the bend in the road where he has easy access to town.

RC THE GREMLIN
Gonna hop out here… Please and thank-you.

Kimba glides close to the curb without losing her place in line at the traffic light.
As he’s getting out, he nudges her gently.

RC THE GREMLIN
No worries, my friend. Another time, when you are NOT on a mission ON MISSION…

He cracks himself up.

RC THE GREMLIN
…I gotta place to show ya. Just might solve for your SCONE challenge.

KIMBA
Oh?

Her mood changes. A smile crosses her face as she reaches over to pinky shake him.

KIMBA
You’re on!

The traffic on MISSION is grid-lock, which gives RC time to impart one more message. He points to the SANTA CRUZ sticker on the car in front of her.

It’s everywhere!

RC THE GREMLIN
I think so that your YOSH!!WESTSIDE will be more famous… Magnets! Pins!
Visualize your eyes that my friend…!!

Visualize it…

And with those parting words, RC dashes down the street. Kimba smiles and turns on her SPOTIFY as the traffic starts to move.

They hear some stirring about and then a CLUNK.

FRANKIE
We’re gonna like it here. Tommie has already claimed that corner and…

They both give him a look.

Frankie shakes his head and then some images dancing on the wall get their attention.

And so it was that SO MUCH was FLO-ing through RC’s head that he knew he just needed to do some wandering around of his own before even thinking about meeting up with the JEDEMI LP GANG.

His thoughts have landed on, of all things, GRUMPY CAT, which triggers bouts of laughter (and lots of folks crossing the street to stay away from him).

And sure enough, RC is somehow managing to WANDER-WALK without getting SQUISHED.

RC THE GREMLIN
Nothing like having the equivalent of a visual ear-worm… an unshakeable…

There’s… I should circle back and see but… Can’t escape that visual and now, come to think of it… THIS is one of those, ‘ASK FORGIVENESS, NOT PERMISSION’ things which I coached up Katie on a lot during her Suit days.

RC’s looping Visual Ear-Worm…

The images zoom through his mind and then he shakes it off as he attempts to pay more attention to where he’s walking.

He reaches a street corner and changes his mind.

RC THE GREMLIN

RC wanders around. Smiles when he sees the Downtown Cat & Cloud.

The vibe… so… Can confirm: Westside the Best Side!!

After scoping out other food establishments his eyes land on the MUSEUM.

RC THE GREMLIN
That’ll be a good place to settle down and… let the brain do the wandering while taking a load off my feets!

NOTE: What RC didn’t know was… He was being followed. Tailed like in those detective stories? Not exactly. But stealthily, a JOBY DRONE — silently observed his movements.

And so it seems that the JEDEMI LP GANG had some RECON of their own underway. Excited to have LANDED on the other side of the HILL, it was essential to get an overview of their new digs.

The drone, a mini-me version of a JOBY eVTOL has captured the imagination of ZUP (AKA St. X), so he’s happily manning the controls.

DOC is all wide-eyed, scanning the shoreline while another part of him is curious about all the places to explore in TOWN as well as their new WESTSIDE hang.

DOC
Joey… Your eyes adjusted yet? We can get you…

Before he completes the sentence, Music pipes in.

He’s silently observing and smiling.

Tall order… DOORKAT Squeek has really leaned into his native persona of WONDER / WANDER (WANDER / WONDER) Kat.

JOEY

DOC
Oh… I know. And then there’s that saying: “Curiosity killed the cat…

JOEY
Yes, and… There’s an apparent add-on: …but satisfaction brought it back.”

Shakes his head.

JOEY

Also… From what I GOOGLED… “Curiosity killed a cat; but it came back” was the original and then someone plugged in the word: “satisfaction”.

They both laugh and Doc remarks.

JOEY
I know. I know. When I do a deep dive I’m like LOCKED IN… So, thanks for the assist er… intervention…

He points and Doc nods while motioning to Pilot ZUP to fly towards the SEA.

Wow! Lots to take in. Maybe we can do a loop and then follow the coastline…

Doc completes his sentence.

…back. Promised the others we’d do a meet up back at KATIE’s. So… I got it!

DOC
Carpe moment!! Such a clear day…! We can do a loop close to WILDER… then do a fly over Seymour then back inland.

Joey just nods, as he is observing with child-like wonder and probably has no idea what Doc said.

His whiskers are full of foam… And that’s what caught the eye of RC the GREMLIN / STORYTELLER who happened to be… BE-BOPPING through town looking (not looking) for Mr Squeek.

So frustrating! More patience I need…

He shakes his head.

RC THE GREMLIN
Anyway… Here I am on a scouting trip to the Downtown BERDEL’s…

RC had spotted his pal through the window of the ROASTER. And with a shimy-shake dance move, he somehow gets himself into a bout of continuous laughter (perhaps he caught a glimpse of his own reflection).

Now anyone laughing uncontrollably is bound to get attention (even these days- Real life or another TikTok?).

And indeed that laughter caught Mr Squeek’s ears just as he raised a paw for a whisker wipe.

ROASTER GUY (AKA Squeek’s barista pal) looks in the direction of the laughter.

Mr Squeek gives him a look, and Roaster Guy repeats with AIR QUOTES which earns a nod.

He stops to think and then smiles.

He races back behind the counter to help another customer. And Mr Squeek gives RC a playful punch.

Seriously? What are you up to that ropes him in? Can’t we leave him in his BARISTA BLISS offering outstanding hospitality and the like?

MR SQUEEK
I’m all about FLEX-N-FLO… but also, not … INTERFERING with the FLO. The dude…

MR SQUEEK
Partner? Since when…? Running mate, yeah… Working the streets and the like, but partner?

Switches back to his GREMLIN state.

Whoops! That would be me galloping like our former Suit, KATIE used to before she settled down into her KINDER. GENTLER. STATE.

MR SQUEEK
Well… I say gallop away, Pal as I must AWAY myself, and…

RC gives him a look.

MR SQUEEK
Yeah… no tagging along this time.

Another disappointed look.

MR SQUEEK
I get it. You’re excited about something. You know the drill… KOKO!!

RC THE GREMLIN
Oh yeah… Gotcha!

Mr Squeek hops up, puts his dish in the bus pan and waves at Roaster Guy, who nods.

RC is behind him. He also waves and points to his SATCHEL-PAK, and bows slightly.

Silently they all head off. It seems Mr Squeek is Wharf-bound while RC is off to (towards) Mission.

Since I spend a lot of time on FaceBook, I found clips that earned spots in my FEED.

They built it, and the Phillies are going to the Field of Dreams. A local author is going too.

When I think, “Field of Dreams” NOT necessarily NETFLIX or PHIELD (Phillies), but… The beauty of dreaming along with the ability to vividly imagine in your mind playing catch with your dad just one more time.

Every day they’re hustling. For Happy Barista Kimba, it’s Uber Driving. For pal RC the Gremlin / Storyteller, it’s conjuring all kinds of … not mayhem but… Let’s call it uninhibited “Sure! Why Not?” activities that COULD lead to…

Please read on to find out WHAT. HAPPENED. NEXT… –The Gang.

And so it was that Happy Barista / Uber Driver KIMBA was driving around pumped up because (a) she was digging the “new” MAG-NET-FICENT creations gifted to her from RC the GREMLIN / STORYTELLER and also (b) for some reason, her in-vehicle SPOTIFY has served her up the BEVERLY HILLS COP soundtrack.

Mag-NET-ficent !!

The energy…? Good!! The traffic…? Not so much. So she pulls over on a side street and gets out.

FADE IN:

EXT. WEST CLIFF

This particular portion of the West Cliff path isn’t busy so she has the crashing waves, the breeze and flapping birds to herself.

KIMBA
Funny, but I feel like running right now… and I’m not a runner.

She picks up the pace as she glide/walks along.

Seeing something in her mind’s eye, she smiles.

KIMBA INTERNAL
I’d write that one down except…

Looking around…

KIMBA INTERNAL
Not now. Too… in the moment I need to be. Besides I got it… See my eyes — clearly.

Funny too. A line extension when we’re still…

She lets the thought drift into the shore side air and is happily content as she moves along.

That being said, her blissful jaunt gets disrupted, but in a good way.

The voice she hears… Makes her smile even more.

RC THE GREMLIN
Seeing ya… at the SEA? Could THAT truly BE…?

KIMBA
BE? Why… TRULY Indeed…

She gives RC a look

KIMBA
And you…??

RC THE GREMLIN
Well… You know… just another day where… I got to. Stir it up. Got to break it up now. When I think about tomorrow… Oh I can’t wait to … Stir it up…

As they park, RC pulls out his RAZR and hands it to her.

Just then Kimba feels a buzz in her pocket and pulls out her phone to see a message that makes her smile.

KIMBA
I’m needed.

RC THE GREMLIN
Yea -so… I’ll leave you to it. But we need to confer on next steps or something, right?

KIMBA
Yeah… For sure! You know how to find me… obviously…

She laughs shaking her head as RC exits the vehicle and then reaches through the passenger window to give her a fist bump.

RC THE GREMLIN
KOKO, my friend!

Kimba smiles.

KIMBA
KOKO!!

Looking out towards the water, again she sees her eyes.
