The Vader Project brings Star Wars and art together by taking artists thoughts and ideas and putting them on the helmet of the dark lord of the sith Darth Vader. 

From the images and tv spots I have seen it looks like an awesome exhibit. Hopefully some day I will get to catch it live.

Tonight I hit a milestone on Twitter with my 5000th update to the service. I have had a great time sending out updates, links, and whatever else via the service and have met a lot of kool people in the process.

I just wanna thank everyone who follows me and those who have responded back to my many many posts. Looking forward to the next 5000!

If you are a tweeter, blogger, podcasters, social media guru, social media fan, or even non of those please join us for the event.  Its a great way to meet new people, maybe somone you follow on twitter or another service on the interweb, and also a way to meet others from around the social media scene.

I am not really sure why I had not blogged about this earlier as I have had the plugin installed for awhile now but like they say better late then never….what am I talking about?  Are you a FriendFeed user?  Would you love to have a record on your own blog of people who commented or liked your post on FriendFeed?  Well you can!

The Wordpress plugin FriendFeed Comments by Glenn Slaven allows you to display on your individual blog posts (I have mine right above my disqus comments) everyone from FriendFeed who either comments or likes your post.

I think this is a pretty kool little plugin as it sorta molds both worlds together.  Installation is a snap and you just have a line of code you insert where ever in you post…could be easier….I will say I am not sure why but my post from FriendFeed all come up with a post date of like December 30th, 1969.  I can live with that though hehe.

I have always been a big fan of the Atari 2600 and had planned on setting it up in our newly finished basement for people to play around with when they came over while watching tv or whatever.

Today though I thought I wonder what it would be like on my 42 inch plasma with surround sound….well the answer is pretty sweet!!!

I got it hooked up and in no time I was playing pac-man, galaga, space invaders on the plasma with full surround sound which was giving me an audio orgasm…hehe

• Who Needs The New Batman Movie?

These days I find myself spending more and more time on FriendFeed as it has pretty much become my place for following friends, following podcasts, following blog updates, and just finding kool new content in general…but for more on those thoughts make sure to check out my past posts on FriendFeed.

Today I want to talk about deciding to integrate FriendFeed with my site and really when it comes down to it there really is not much to it….a little designing, a little css, and a little embedding.

Designing The Page
First I setup my website with 2 <div>’s with one being for my menu on the left side and then the other being where my friendfeed content will be located.  This of course would just be what you are looking for look wise or what you find catches your eye.

Embedded FriendFeed
In order to get all your content from the site you have to use the following script from FriendFeed :

Obviously you will replace <USERNAME> with your username to grab your content and you can also add “?num=VALUE” to set how many entries you would like to be displayed at one time and then you can add “?source=VALUE” which would allow you to just get a service by itself (twitter, friendfeed, disqus, youtube, ect).

CSS
Once you add the script to your site and take a look at the content you are probably gonna find you wanna get rid of some of the default formatting that comes with the FriendFeed widget.  This of course would be based on taste and integration with the current look you are going with but here is my css to just get you started.

So why did I do this?  Is this the end of my blog?  First let me say no its not the end of my blog….I find FriendFeed to be a great resource to help bring all the service you use togather and follow your friends in one place…so you will see my blog posts from jeffisageek.net/blog right there at the new jeffisageek.net.

As to why I did it well for me I am always looking for a new way to share my content (FriendFeed makes that pretty easy) and also I always enjoy just tinkering with a little code here a little css tweak there so in some ways it was just a little experiment to see what I could do and I must say I like what I have and think it is here to stay for awhile (or till I decide to mess around with something else…hehe).

• Messing With Video - Take Two!

The concept of 12seconds is pretty easy to grasp .  You shoot a video that is 12 seconds in legth on your phone or webcam and then share it with the world…that easy.  Pretty simple concept and execution but can be loads of fun just throwing little videos up on the site.

I kind of think of it as the twitter of video where you have a limited about of time instead of characters minus all the downtime us tweeters are use to these days. Oh and speaking of twitter you can setup to alert all your followers on twitter when you have a new video to share with the interweb.

12seconds is currently in alpha so you have to have an invite to get in on the action. Need one? Just leave a comment with your email addy and I will get one out to ya.

The post was created out of a discussion we had on the show about using google shared items to get your stories from the blogosphere and I shared with the others how I had taken and unsubscribed from all my feeds then turned around used google shared items, readburner feeds, twitter, and friendfeed to get my stream under control.
