]]> Never thought I’d see New Balance running shoes on the runway paired with suit separates. Not sure if that makes me an old fart or sheltered or what.

Last season, Steven Alan lamented to The Style Blog that he wished he could make his own shoes. Apparently, he’s not quite there yet: Amidst the derbies, low-tops, and other leather shoes we saw at his presentation this morning — which always kicks off the men’s shows — two models were wearing these navy New Balance 993s above, paired with smart suit separates. Alan’s the master of what we’ll call Weekend Clothes, and there seems no better way to make your flannels work for Saturday and Sunday than with a pair of these.
