Hi there new kids on the blog.

Since I got back from London nothing has really worked out well for me. I've made some poor decisions along the way, although I blame variance and BAD luck for the most part. It's been ups and downs ever since november 1st. That's 4 months of breaking even. I'm stuck a TON in february, especially the last part of the month has gone wrong, especially at 10/20. Along the way I've felt that I was going in the right direction, but it's always been 6 steps forward 8 steps back. When talking to other regulars, some of them don't recognize variance and swings enough. They think it won't happen to them, because they've played.. what, 150k hands at 5/10 and "surely had their fair share of swings"? That's nothing. Eventually.. A big fat motherfucker with a chainsaw is coming knocking on your door. Don't say I didn't warn you. GL with that. Sarcasm aside, this is the reality of playing poker professionally. It's inevitable.. like death and hangovers. Some players are able to cope with all this in a very healthy way, but I'm just not one of them. Talking about swings rationally isn't tough, but actually accepting and fully understand them is not.

I have to admit that I've been seriously considering a careerchange. I miss doing something creative, like making music as I used to. I wan't to develope something. I want a new challenge. Now it's all about getting money in the bank. Grinding out endless amount of hours in front of the screens just to get some loot. It's a cardcame, and to be honest it's not that funny. I haven't decided on what to do yet, but there's a good chance I'll continue being a slave to money for some time.

Here's my graph in BBs. It doesn't really show the whole picture, because I've run way worse at 5/10 and 10/20 than below. So just add some much bigger swings the past 150k hands and it should be fine:

I understand that alot of people aren't interesting in hearing me whining about things not going my way. But I don't care, this is my refuge. This is a place where I get to let out steam and write down thoughts. So in this post I mainly post hands that I loose, that's my way of getting them out of the system. So I'm back from London, wanted to do a post earlier, but here it is.

London was just as amazing as I remember it, and I really enjoyed having some time off. No floats, no checkraises, no 3-barrels, just vacation. The weather was actually really good with a clear blue sky, although pretty cold. Just walking around the streets of the inner city was a joy. We visited all sorts of touristy places, and also went to two of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants. The Italian restaurant Murano and the fusion frenzy place called Maze. Murano was a small and very intimate place with excellent italian food. While Maze was more trendy with young trendylooking dudes all over the place - it was huge and almost styled like a nightclub, and had a big bar in the center. A bit too snobbish for my liking, mehh. We had a tasting menu with 7 dishes, with all sorts of weird food combinations. The food was great, and it was pretty fun to try all the dishes, but to be honest I prefer the more quiet and relaxing Murano. Food > all.

Being in London we had to go see a premier league match, so we got some insanely overpriced tickets for the Arsenal - West Ham game. THAT was an amazing experience, and the fans was out of this world great singers. Unfortunately the game ended 0-0, but i'd do it all over again, and I can't wait to get back and see some more games in the future.

I played around 10k hands since I got back home, and I can't really seem to shake that brutal variance off my back - But I feel confident nonetheless, my game is getting better day by day, and I think I've spotted some minor leaks I've had the past months. Now I just have to focus and keep putting in more hours, and not slack along the way. I've therefore decided to grind a great amount for the rest of february.

Haven't played as much as I wanted to the past days, but I've had other stuff to do (oh yes I did). The games have been amazingly good lately, but I haven't been able to get some cream, in fact I'm stuck for the month so far. The soft ones keep emptying my pockets, but as I've said many times before, I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my game. And you will know my name is jegerrrr when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I'm going to London on wednesday for a week or so with my girlfriend, which I'm looking forward to. Although the weather is the same depressing story as here, I'm sure I'll find London very relaxing after all. I've been there several times before, last time I was there for the Jay-Z concert at Wembley which was out of this world. I haven't found a hotel yet, so if anyone got any recommendations, please let me know, as well as good restaurants or whatnot. I really, really want to go to one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants while I'm there. Food > all.

This week something good happened to me; I finally pulled my shit together and started working out at a gym. I feel like I've been in a fight with The Governator right now. I'm pretty excited about this, and hope I'll be able to keep up my motivation. (I find that really hard sometimes). Working out has all sorts of benefits, and there are hardly any things on the downside worth mentioning. Hopefully I'll sleep much better, get a lot more energy, and be pumped up on dopamine. Aaah.

I feel like shit right now, it was alot worse this morning though, but I could really use some sleep right now. Was drunk last night at a birthday party, and I puked on my way home, it was so awesome dude. 24 is the new 14.

It's snowing alot here in Denmark right now, I always enjoyed that. People seem to hate alot on snow. I never understood those haters. Inner peace arrives whenever snow appears, uhmmmm. Yeah, snow is cold - but that doesn't really matter when you spent most of your life indoors like me.

In my previous post I told about a legendary fish and me being on a neverending waitinglist. Well, as it turned out I actually got a seat. Not only did I get to play this psychopath, but along came another legend at a second table. Life was good, fortune was smiling directly into my ugly face, or so I thought. Before I could say "yellow snow 4 u!" I was down 5 buyins. I played those two tables for about 3-4 hours, and was swinging all over the place, I ended down a couple of buyins. Which was very disappointing considering the games I was playing. Those two moneyhating idiots gave away around 10 buyins each, and I didn't get a single piece.

At around 5 in the morning, one of them was still sitting with over 220bbs, but I had to leave, couldn't see straight and had a really hard time keeping my eyes open. I was so incredibly tired, and would probably donk off some more if I had stayed. But fortunately I had a good session the next morning, so that made me feel pretty good, me being results oriented and all. Played around 1700 hands today. Started down a ton. Then I played Domcee for some time HU and stacked him. Then he left. Then along came julie, I stacked him aswell. Then quit. Ended exactly even steven for the day. Ice cold spranklayn danish-water and some Pizza. Ah. Then suddenly, the networks biggest donk dumps in.. (name is hidden for the sake of mohnayz yo) I panic and press the wrong button, unfortunately I end up as number 3 on the waitinglist, and now I've been waiting 3-4 hours to get a seat. Guess nobody got anything better to do.

I had a good night's sleep, so I was feeling really good when I woke up this morning. Had a couple of hours to grind in the morning, before a friend of mine picked me up. We went to a big spa and wellness center up north, yeah.. I know. But it was really nice and relaxing, they had all sorts of thermal baths, saunas and what not. Fresh fruit aswell. Grapes, bananas, melons, apples, oranges and kiwi's. I should eat fruit more often, it's so good. They had this big massage-machine (no, it wasn't a plastic cock) which worked wonders. I was lying there listening to ocean waves on the speaker trying to cleanse my mind, and that wasn't easy. But I actually enjoyed the whole wacky wellness stuff alot. Which I've hated on quite alot before. I will probably be going there again some time soon, whenever I need a break from looking into a screen.

We only have about 7 days, so Maldives might be kinda hectic with all the traveling, and London is not more than an hour away. But I could seriously use some warm weather right now.

I came to the conclusion that a couple of days off would be for the best, and instead of grinding I could put some focus and energy into studying my game more in depth. Sharpen my knife a little, so to speak. I have printed out some hand histories from the past 3 months, some big pots and some minor, from 30bbs and above. I too like to analyze hands in front of my computer, where I am able to use Pokerstove, HEM and what not. Which I almost always do. But at times I actually prefer sitting in my couch puzzling over hands printed out on paper. Ol'skool steeze.

I have lots of suggestions for improvement at Boss Media, the network where I mostly play. And I am not the only one, people have been discussing it back and forth in this regulars thread at 2+2. Some of the things I feel is very important. Let's make a bugreport:

- Timebank in cashgames
Pretty much all major sites has this function. Boss Media has promised this several times, but nothing ever happens. The timebank is implemented in tournaments, and other independent networks who uses the Boss software has timebanks in cashgames, such as the Austrian Win2Day. So we know for a fact that it only requires at buttonpush to activate them. I can't find any other explanation than Boss is being greedy. They probably think the timebanks will stall the games, and therefore won't create as much rake. This is unacceptable. Atleast consider increasing our time to act postflop.

- Focus stealing
This is one of the most frustrating bugs in the history of computer software. When multitabling you actually have to doubleclick actionbuttons in order to act on a new table. Not to mention the frustration that arises when typing in IMs or browsers.

- Reversed blinds HU
When a table is breaking up and 3 players are seated, but one decides to sit out, the blinds reverse for the 2 players sitting heads up. BTN becomes the BB. This has to be fixed, as it is extremely annoying. Doesn't seem too intellectually overwhelming for a programmer.

- Chat option saved
Every time you open a new table you have to edit your chat options in the menu. Your option should be saved like the muck-options.

- Get rid of turbotables/Ability to hide turbotables in the lobby
Turbotables pisses everyone off. Especially multitabling grinders. I realize there's probably a bigger chance that I win the main event this year, than these turbotables will be removed. (I'm not playing the main event this year). But atleast give us the option to show/hide the tables in a checkbox in the lobby.

- Wait for bigblind
After sitting out you don't have the ability to click "Wait for big blind", instead you have to wait untill you are UTG on each table and click "I'm back". This can cause panicattacks when multitabling. Especially for those of us who still goes to the toilet in order to take a piss. Bottles are for cavemen.

- Minor irritating stuff
I understand why some might want resizeable tables, but honestly, if you grind alot simply get a bigger screen. This shouldn't be the programmers first priority. It looks like the rakeraces are here to stay, since Boss found another way to make more money. It's harder for donks to get seats, and we don't want that. Some people keep asking why you can't see mucked cards on Boss, and I actually consider this a good thing. I know the EV calculators won't work properly - so you aren't able to see how you missclicked your way into the higher games. Tough luck. One last thing I would like to address is the dreadful stability of the servers. Sometimes the tables lag for up to 30 seconds, untill the play continues. From time to time tables close down without warning in the middle of gameplay. This shouldn't even be an issue. If you have anything to add I would love to hear it.

I always hoped this day would never come, but I'm actually going to call a dentist for an apointment after I finish this post. Sigh. Afterwards I'm gonna be a nerd and study handranges.

A Change Is Gonna Come

Oh my oh my, I've been away for some time now. Times has been rough, really rough. But I've managed to deal with it in my own akward way. At the end of November, my downswing was still going strong, which you'll see in my prior posts (Some people wouldn't even call -40 buyins a downswing, but they are retarded spewdonks). At the time I honestly thought "This is the most insane thing I have ever experienced, wow wtf, this is surreal." Little did I know, a flood of bullshit was coming my way. So this not-so-lovely online world wide web internet texas hold'em no liiimit pokers has not been going well since november. But despite the fact that I've run really bad, I've been able to fight back, and been breaking even for a long stretch now. I can live with that, and I know a change is gonna come. I've grown bad habits over this 2½ months period, leaks you might call it. Rest assured, they are getting plugged. Furthermore I have to put in more hands, more work and better focus.

But.. I also need to stop acting like a spoiled child. I feel really bad at times when I'm whining over a cardgame. Yes, poker is pretty much all I do, and yes, it is a lot of money. But I simply cannot allow my account balance to dictate my state of mind.

And if I look back at 2008 it's been amazing. I set myself some goals at the beginning of the year, and I've gone way beyond them. So it's been much better than I could hope for. So if I hear one more complaint coming out of my mouth in the nearest future, I will have to make a fist and smash it with great force into my cranium.

Me and my girlfriend have considered moving to Malmö this summer, she's going to finish her master at the copenhagen university, so Malmö seems like a good plays to live - especially since I won't get stripped, robbed for all my belongings and sent to jail in Sweden because of some utterly retarded law from 1927.

I'm still in bed right now, actually I just wanted to check my e-mail but decided to post a blog instead. So now I will go take a long shower, get some breakfast and finish my thoughts later on. Because there's alot of subjects I'm missing here, and I'll also take a good look into the depths of my huge database for 2008 and find some hands.

Ahhhhh. New month, fresh start.. right? Atleast that's what I always think when the calendar turns to 1 again. Yesterday I started off grinding 5/10 and 3/6 eur. Not the best start I could've wished for.. actually the worst I could imagine to be honest. Wanted implement my new stoploss and stop at -4 buyins, but in the middle of closing down all the tables, it all rambles and I loose another one. Around -5.3 buyins for the day, which ofcourse isn't nice. But not that catastrophic either, I think I'll manage to cope with that.

It's been a week since my last post. I've been taking a vacation, visiting a summerhouse in Denmark with my girlfriend. I wasn't able to put in that many hands during that time, being on a 11" laptop combined with a very unstable wifi net isn't the best thing when it comes to massive grinding, and vacation is vacation. As I've mentioned earlier, I've had a bet with Flortsch this month. 60.000 hands in May. As of now I got 10 hours left to reach my goal, and I'm still missing ~7k hands. Slapinthefacewakeupandsrealizeshowfuckedupyoureallyare kind of day. I'm sitting in a train right now, so the time is running out. I could multitable like an autistic kid for the next 9 hours when I get back home, but I just don't think it's worth it. Besides.. Flortsch needs to know how it feels to win once in a while.

Past 2 days I've been visiting my coach in Århus along with fellow grinder Fredholm. It's been very educational. 3 poker geeks talking about poker certainly is fun and is intensely affecting my game. Yesterday they convinced me to go to a driving range. 2nd time golfing ever, and today my back hurts like hell. I wish I had it on tape. Mindblowingly display of talent. The white Tiger some whispered across the course.

I'm going to Vegas this summer in july, staying the whole month if I don't get sick of it. Which definately could happen. I've never been there before. I'm traveling with 3 friends, so it should be good times good stuff though. I think I pretty much have to give main event a shot, and qualify through a sat. But besides the main event, I think we're going to play alot of live. Which I truly hate. One table, 10 people, turtle dealers and 8 hands an hour. I really hoped I was able to play Boss Media from the states, but unfortunately that isn't allowed. So I'll figure out some other network to grind at, when I get tired of playing live.

May has been good, with some ups and downs, and some minor tilt once in a while. Logged a really solid month, so I'm pretty happy with that. I want to grind like a madman in June in order to make up for the Vegas trip. I'm gonna miss boss media, that's for sure. No bets on number of hands this time, no pressure, just good old grinding. Later when I'm back home I will post some hands, a graph and whatnot.

Btw, I was at the movies last week and saw the new Indiana Jones. Damn, it was nice to see him back in action. But seriously, the story was frustratingly bad. I have no idea what those two fuckups had in mind when they made this movie. The ending was so horrible I almost laughed. It kind of made me sad, cus I'm a megafan of the old movies. But I got what i expected.

3 days has past since I was in Århus to get some coaching, and I've been grinding a fair amount since i got back home. I'm not gonna go into any details about the coaching, but all I can say is that it certainly has helped me in various ways. As I mentioned in my previous post, I've been thinking alot about a stoploss, and I've decided to get me one of those. 4 buyins. That should be it, nothing more nothing less. So I'm pretty excited to see how it turns out actually, I don't know how I'll react when im 4 BIs stuck to some 71vpip lunatic, should be fun though.

I'm not really into pokerbooks anymore, it's been a long time since I read any. I think I can learn more and evolve much quicker through 2+2, CR, DC and by talking to other players on msn and irl etc. But I actually got recommended Tommy Angelo's book Elements of Poker by my coach, so I've ordered it along with The Poker Mindset and i'm pretty anxious to read them. It focuses on other aspects of poker than just gametheory. Mainly tilt and how to get rid of it. Being able to quit when needed and so on. But we'll see.

I've been winning since I got back home, and that's always nice. I'm at ~45k hands for the month, so I still need to grind out 15k hands in order to reach the goal of 60k and not losing my bet with Flortsch. Should be manageable, although I'm gonna go out with some friends tomorrow at Nothern Europe's biggest carnivale here in my hometown, and poker on sunday is a big no no, since I'll be a whining little bitch with hangovers then. And monday till thursday i'll be at a vacation house on a little island here in Denmark with my girlfriend, so I will probably not play during that time either. Unless my new wifi broadband thingy can connect overthere. I highly doubt it though, since it is in the middle of nowhere. So it should be very tough to reach the goal, but i'll do what I can - that's for sure.

Untill now. Because I've just got myself a new wireless broadband mobile gadget thing. The internet is kinda laggy at times, but I'll take it. I'm on my way to Århus to get some coaching, and it is a fairly long time ago I've been there - so I'm really looking forward to it. Hopefully it'll get me more motivated, as it always seems to do, and strengthen my confidence.

I'm sitting here on the train thinking about all sorts of things I can do to improve my game, and yes there is always plenty of room for improvements. One of the things is a stoploss, I used to have that when i grinded lower stakes way back when I was extremely nitty. But the past 1½ year I haven't really used it. But how big should it be? 3 buyins seems really small, because when multitabling 6-8 tables it's just a couple of std hands and you're done for the day. Maybe 5 buyins instead? Or will that make me tilt? I'll keep thinking..

Today kids.. we're gonna learn a little bit about a thing called variance, and a word called tilt.
The past 7-8 days have been extremely swingy, and I must admit I have tilted at times. I've really been thinking alot about having some kind of stoploss, but I'm not sure it would be sufficient when I lack disciplin. 3 or 4 buyins? I don't know if thats possible. Meh.

I'm at 40.5k hands for the month so far, and if I look at the bottomline, it's still a very good month, but these swings make me feel like a busto bastard. I know.. it's retarded, I shouldn't be complaining. But yet I am.

Yesterday I played a bit over 4k hands, played decent for a change - and got back to square one, which was nice. Today I woke up at 8, had some breakfast and started grinding around 9. Played 2k hands that session and it went okay. Here is some hands from todays session:

Today has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. Started playing this morning at 9 at usual, grinded for about 4 hours. Ended up 4k eur. So I was pretty satisfied with that. Then I met with one of my friends to get some lunch, and afterwards I went down in a techshop and bought this lovely thing. And when I got back home I wanted to start my second session, and use the numpad thingy for the first time. 10 minutes into the session I was making a bluffraise against some random guy, was going to raise to 125. But unfortunately I pressed 1225. "Please fold, please." And so he did. Phew.

I lost some big flips, and had plenty of coolers. TPTK + nut fd against set, etc. But after a couple of hours, I must admit - I started playing terrible. Ended -3k eur for the day. Then I took a break, and had some dinner with my girlfriend, which helped calming things down a bit. And after that I started grinding again for about 3 hours, ended up a bit, so bottomline is -1400 eur for today. Which is basicly evenish, but it feels like a slap in the face. Especially when I played like a retard at times. But tomorrow is another day, and I'm gonna hit the sack now. I'll post some of the biggest hands tomorrow, but I'll just post my graph for May so far:

Holla front.

So i've decided to start a blog about my game, and post some hands and what not. Actually I've been thinking about starting a blog like this for a million years, but..

The past 3½ years I've had the most ridiculous sleepingcycle (or whatever it's called). Going to bed in the morning around 7, waking up 11 hours later and started grinding. That's healthy, and as some of you may know - I put my health first. There was no structure whatsoever during a day, but now that has finally changed. Since the beginning of 2008 I've started to wake up early in the morning around 8, playing from 9 to 12.30, taking an hour break, and then playing again for 3½ hours - And after that, call it a day. Keeps me focused and serious about my game, much more than playing an hour there, and two hours there.

2008 has been pretty good so far, been putting in around 40k hands a month. Grinding out midstakes from 2/4 to 5/10. In april I almost cut out all 2/4 games, and started focusing on 3/6 and 5/10 instead. From time to time there is a bigger game going on that I'll sit in if the action is really good. But I don't have an urge to play superhigh. I just like grinding, and feeling comfortable with it. With that said - May has been amazing so far. Actually I don't feel like I'm running superhot, mainly I just think the opponents play like retarded inbreed neanderthals.

I've recently made a bet with Flortsch to play atleast 60k hands in May. So I've gotta keep grinding forever. Mehh.
