What to Wear?
If there is on thing that sometimes stresses me out when deciding to do a family photo session for my own family is trying to get everyone to not only coordinate but to make everyone happy enough with what they are wearing. It is hard to get my kiddos out of gym clothes that are usually stained and too little lol. I know I am not the only one who goes through this because one of the questions I get most of the time is what to wear.

When it comes to what colors to wear, remember that the the flowers are a bright blue with very green grass. You want to compliment with the bluebonnets and not compete with them. Some classic colors would be yellows, light blue, light pink, creams. I would stay away from all white and any neon because it will cast the colors on to your skin. No teals or greens that are almost the same as the grass because you will blend into the background.

I like to keep my sessions laid back and fun! I want everyone to be comfortable, let’s not forget the session is in the Texas outdoors, so it is best to save the overly dressy outfits for another event. There is so many times when kiddos are so unhappy with what they are wearing because they are uncomfortable that the misery shown through. You might be sitting, standing, kneeling etc so you want something that is moveable and not restrictive. When it comes to footwear, if you are wearing super nice shoes you may want to wear comfy tennis shoes for the walk up to the photographing location and change once you get there. Lastly, the grass is high so you probably will not see the shoes.

What about the weather?

The only type of weather I do not photograph in is rain. Not only is that not good for your hair and makeup but def not good for my Canon. Sometimes too if the wind is over 20 MPH that will cause a rescheduled shoot. No one wants their photos to look like you were coming down on a roller coaster at Six Fla. If we do need to reschedule I have planned the following day for “Rain Delay Days.” If the rain continues to that day then we will move to another date. If the rain continues, that just means we can enjoy the bluebonnets longer because they will just keep blooming so we will get plenty of time to get the rain date in : )

Here are some small tips for helping the session go smoothly:

– For the really littles, please bring their fav light up tor noisy toy to get smiles

– Please do not give the kiddos the cell phones or tablets during the session to keep them happy. I can’t edit that out and kiddos usually love exploring the outdoors anyway : )

– Please bring plenty of water, it can get hot in the Texas heat even in the Spring

– If kiddos are of age, I will provide a surprise treat bag with for example, small dum dum suckers, fruit snacks, etc Bribery but only in this type of case is always acceptable in my opinion haha. If you book with me again, your kiddos will for sure remember me and def give me all those adorable smiles.

My last final and final tip that is very very important is to try to relax and have fun! Moms I know that is easier said than done with another thing to plan on your long list of things to do. Moms always have the toughest job when it comes to photo sessions. You have the outfit planning, eye rolls, yelling/crying while getting ready, but it will all be worth it in the end. If you still feel stressed on the way to the session, please feel free to bring that traveling mug with wine to the session, just don’t forget to bring extra for me haha Just kidding!

This year I decided to host “End of Summer” mini sessions!  These sessions can be used for anything you would like that we can fit in the 20 mins!  You can use them for milestone sessions, cake smash, back to school photos, family sessions, photos of your fur babies, or even just because you need to update those frames!

They will take place on August 19th & 20th.  They will be 20 mins long, and you get 8 fully edited high resolution digital images and a print release with private gallery to download your images.  The location will take place in Killeen (details will follow)

For the littles I will have some props available to use if you want it more themed.  I will have a small summer themed setup for the kiddos.  If you would like this setup please list it on the questionnaire : )

If you can’t make the “End of Summer” minis, don’t worry I will be hosting holiday mini sessions again this year!  I am so excited for those I have already started planning my holiday setup!
