I’ve been meaning to make a huge picnic quilt for … well, forever. When I saw Emily Cier’s Sprout Quilt pattern, I knew this was the pattern! I wanted something modern and not very girly. I decided to go ahead and piece the king size and I’m so glad I did. It’s the perfect size for our family of five. I pieced the quilt on my last nursing school break back in May and then I sent it off to the fabulous Natalia to quilt. I *finally* got around to binding it. I was lazy and used extra wide double fold bias tape and I’m glad I did. The actual binding took just an hour.

Life has definitely been busy in the Garland house lately. Here are some quick updates on everybody…

Harper (16th months) is a busy little bee. She has the funniest personality but she means business. She is independent, curious, and a jokester. She was not about to let anyone take the crayon away from her in this picture.

Sara Paige (3.5 years) is the family protector. She doesn’t let anyone mess with her sisters. She loves to tell stories and try new things.

Katie (6 years) had a birthday in June! She lost her top front tooth a few weeks ago and I just think it’s adorable. She’s been busy playing tennis, selling crafts to the neighborhood kids, and will start first grade in a week. Sara Paige and Harper start at their new Montessori school next week.

Brad and I are about to have our 8th anniversary next week. Sometimes I think he is the child whisperer. He has a crazy amount of patience and for that… I am beyond thankful!

Me? I am so glad to have a few weeks to catch my breath and spend lots of quality time with the girls. I have some fun craft plans (I miss sewing!!) and am going to read a quirky book or two before I hit the nursing books again.
