As the weekend is just about over, we wanted to share something with you that was impressed on our minds after experiencing the past two days.

We had the wonderful honor of having some of this years BOSS Representatives and their parents over for our annual Student and Parent Meeting on Saturday. We are so excited to be able to get to know such wonderful individuals in the coming months and year. At the end of the meeting, several of the Representatives said what a nice "little family" they all made together. This made our hearts smile!

We could not ask for a better group of families to be working with in the upcoming year and we can wholeheartedly say that about every family we have worked with up until now. So with all seriousness, we want to say a special thanks to all of the families we have had the privilege to get to know and invested time with over the past few months and year.

May we continue to reach out to you as friends and family, not just merely clients. Whether we captured your wedding, your family, your senior, pet or baby, you each have a very special place in our hearts. Thank you for allowing us the joy of capturing your memories to preserve the fleeting moments of today, for generations tomorrow. Water for Elephants - Inspired Shoot

Today, we had the lovely privilege of doing something for pure fun! We enlisted Jason and Jamie to be our models for a creative session to emulate the movie Water for Elephants. Despite the cold weather outside, we made due at Nicole's location and utilized as much indoor space as possible. We really enjoyed our time together and will be posting a behind the scenes video with more images in the near future. Thanks again Jason and Jamie, we could not have done it without you both! :)

Baby Zoey Revealed

On January 17th, 2012 Life was irrevocably, undeniably and delightfully changed for Aaron and Sarah Christensen. Their beautiful and charming little princess Zoey was born. May I just say that when your children's friends begin to have kidlets of their own, the "circle of life" takes on new meaning. Having watched Sarah grow from little girl to a young woman to a bride and now a mommy...all I can say is WOW! Congratulations, blessings and a whole heap o' love to the Christensen Family.

During a busy weekend, of catching up on orders, emails and photographing a Father Daughter dance for Terri Gillis Photography, we had the chance to slow down a bit for a beautiful studio session. We had the privilege of capturing some maternity portraits for Tiffany. We were so excited when she contacted us several weeks ago to schedule her session. Her baby is due in a few weeks and we cannot wait to capture the newborn session. Thank you Tiffany for going along with all of our ideas, clothing changes and for being so flexible. We truly enjoyed our time with you and your mother. See you and baby in a few weeks :)

Two years ago on December 30th, Penny gave birth to 5 of the most charming puppies on the planet. Today we had a little reunion and all the owners brought their puppies over to have a photo session. What a riot we had. Thank you to Meghan, Deb, Jackie, Teia, Nicci for bringing your puppies to the "homestead". Enjoy the photos :)

THE PRAN CLAN CHRISTMAS '11

Twas the Night before Christmas and all through the house,

People were gathering, but there was no mouse.

The stockings were hung on the Entertainment Center with care,

and Penny could be found, just waiting there.

The enchilada's were nestled all snug in their pans,

while beans, rice and salad were also on demand.

While Pa in his green shirt, and I in my cap,

had just sat down with some other fine chaps.

When out of the quiet a prayer was said,

for thankfulness, for provision and what lies ahead.

Away to the feasting the guests they did fly,

The food, it was yummy, I'm not gonna lie.

The Veenstras, the Zaagman's the Praniewicz's so many,

we knew with this food, no one would be skinny.

Then what to our wondering eyes should appear,

but a vision of Christi via Skype, oh the dear.

With her quick wit and candor, her stories regaled,

she "joined" us for dinner, from California she hailed.

More laughter and talking our meal it ensued,

the time passed too quickly and we all thought, "how rude!"

"Now, Mom and Dad, now Aunt Deb, Uncle Denny,

Shelli and Sam, oh there are far to many,

Mike, Lisa, Ken and Nicci,

oh I'm not there, that's such a pity!"

As she said goodbye, we nibbled our dishes

much aware of her sweet Christmas wishes.

We continued our stories and after

so thankful for life, the love and the laughter.

The evening continued with games and dessert,

the coffee, the cookies, more people alert.

Our neighbors the Bjork's joined us at 8:00

At church they had been and they were a treat.

We finished our evening, the dishes and more,

so grateful for dear friends, family and more.

The Savior, Jesus, we celebrate His Season

this is Christmas for us, He is the Reason.

We sing of His coming, for this we're not sorry.

His birth, His Life, they're just part of the Story.

Let us exclaim before this year is out of sight.

Senior Session Solidarity

We are wrapping up our Best of Senior Sessions from the this year and wanted to include telling you about Jackie, Laura, Scott, Maria and Kyle. Jackie Roodevoets is a Home School senior from West Michigan. We have known her and those beautiful blonde ringlets since she was, but a wee one, in 4H with Nicole and Christi. She is all grown up, graduating from high school in 2012 and is excited about the future she has ahead. Pictured with her is Laura Droog. Laura is a senior from Lowell High School, she loves music, hanging with friends, as well as science. She has aspirations of studying to be a neo-natal nurse and then on to be a doctor.

Next up, Maria and Scott Sargeant . These two siblings are also Home School graduates. We have known Maria and Scott for several years because of our mutual involvement with West Michigan Home School Band Association and Home School Performing Arts. Let me just say that these two are a hoot and had us laughing during the entire session we had with them at Fallsburg Park. (Ask them about "tree hugging pictures.) Best wishes to these two talented artists in your future endeavors.

Our final senior is Kyle Cai. He is a foreign exchange student from China studying at Northpointe Christian for his senior year. Kyle plans on returning to China for a year then would like to attend college in the United States. While studying at Northpointe, Kyle played football, played in the drumline and has enjoyed being involved in different business competitions. We had a great time with Kyle. He has a great sense of humor and is a good sport considering his session was on a VERY cold, rainy and wet afternoon. He never complained and always had a smile. Best wishes to you Kyle and all of our seniors in your plans regarding your future dreams and aspirations.

What's Going On?

We have been busy catching up with sessions, holidays and LIFE. In the midst of all that we have had several sessions that we want to share with you. First is Al and Jane. We met Al when we captured his smile for Norman Family Dentistry. He is a warm, charming and engaging gentleman whom we have enjoyed getting to know. When he called and asked us to capture a portrait of he and Jane, well we were thrilled.

Next up,three family sessions with the Mills, Steffen and Wieringa families. According to the Mills family, they had not done a family portrait in "forever". We were happy to capture their portraits and thouroughly enjoyed our time with them at Fallsburg Park in Lowell. The Steffen's were celebrating their 50th and wanted to have a large family portrait to make special note of their notable occasion. The genuine affection and admiration this family has for one another was/is palpable, contagious and heart warming. The Wieringa Family wanted to give a gift to their parents by having an extended family portrait captured. We had a blast with each of the Wieringa families and all the little ones during the entire session. We so enjoy the interaction and emotion involved with all of our clients, but especially love to see and capture the family dynamic in action.

Oh blog, seems like an update has been overdue for quite some time now. We quickly wanted to make some announcements on some exciting upcoming events that we will be participating in!

1. Professional Headshot Day with Lake Eastbrook Leads Group on Wednesday, October 26th, 2011 at 2pm. Jennifer will be there to capture Professional Portraiture for you and your business. 2. We are planning a "Mommy and Me Portrait Party" with the wonderful Emily Davis of Premiere Designs on Saturday, November 5th! 3. We are excited to announce that we are participating in the 2011 Ladies Weekend Expo. 4. We are also going to be doing a fun Holiday event with Melissa Steen! Next week you can attend her Cupcakes and Couture event and sign up for the Vintage Holiday Card Portrait Party. This party will hopefully be taking place either late on Saturday, November 5th or Sunday, November 6th. We are awaiting confirmation on a very unique venue and a time slot. Nicole has designed 12 vintage inspired, Holiday cards that we hope will be a big hit! We will be debuting the designs at the Cupcakes and Couture event next week, as well as having samples at the Mommy and Me Portrait Party and the 2011 Ladies Weekend Expo at the Devos Place. We will be making an announcement on the final details of the Vintage Holiday Card Portrait Party as soon as we can.

Lastly, we wanted to share an image of what a 90 individual Family Portrait looks like (yes they are all in there, we promise)! This family portrait is of the extended Oesch family, of Swisslane Dairy Farms in Alto, MI. This portrait was taken at a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Joe and Melva. Joe and Melva opted to order a large print of the final image and have us custom frame it for them to match the furniture in their home. Beautiful double matting and fantastic, glare free glass to finish off this beautiful image. We had sooo much fun capturing Ilena and her fabulous ladies getting ready the morning of the Wedding. We started out at at Reflections Salon to capture Ilena and her sister Jasmine getting their hair done. We learned so much watching the very talented stylists at the salon, what an art-form it was as we observed all of the beautiful transformations that occurred with many of their clients that came in. After that, we headed to the Radisson for makeup application and to capture the girls getting their dresses on and also the guys getting ready for the big day!

The next few images were some of our favorites! Ilena adjusting her earrings, to her fabulously decorated heels, the gorgeous rings and her dress, need we say more? ;)

Dress time! You can never have too much help :) Ilena, you are radiant, truly.

Just a few images of the fantastic and fun reception. The candy buffet they had was a glorious hit and the cake was decorated with beautiful swans and lilies. Shelli also came along with us for this Wedding to assist and she even had the opportunity to dance Beyoncé's Single Ladies! She was a HUGE hit with the observant, cheering and clapping crowd :)

We had such a wonderful time, and it is events like this that makes our job fulfilling and rewarding. Ilena and Kenny, we thank God for bringing us to you in a chance meeting at the mall, of all places! We are excited and eager to see how your lives grow closer together as a family and the wonderful plans that will unfold in the years to come. A big thank you going out to Amber and Andy for being so patient for this post! We have had a busy Summer and Fall and have been wanting to blog about their Wedding for some time now :) Amber and Andy, we are so grateful that you selected us to photograph your Wedding Day. Amber, seeing you grow up and knowing your family for several years made your day all the more special. We truly felt honored to be able to participate and capture the memories of your fun filled day.

Amber and Andy's Wedding took place in Grand Rapids, MI. We arrived the morning of the Wedding to be able to capture Amber and all of her bridesmaids getting ready.

We had fun capturing Amber and Andy's guests at the photobooth as we waited for the Reception to begin!

Toasts by the Best Man and Maid of Honor!

A fun game that Amber and Andy played with their parents. For every answer that was asked, each spouse was supposed to answer "yes" or "no" (raising or not raising their shoe) as to who was most likely in the relationship to do whatever was being asked during the game. It was very funny to see the responses, there was much laughter!

We LOVED that guests could go up and share stories of the Bride and Groom during the Reception. It was just such a personal touch. One little tid-bit of information, the lovely lady on the far right of the image (with her arms folded :) is Mara of March 27 Designs (www.march27designs.com) She is the talented designer who created Amber and Andy's lovely invitations! Best of Senior Sessions abound...

Here is the next installment of our BOSS sessions. Jared Gill and Michaela Kehoe. Jared, one of our BOSS Reps for 2011, is a senior from Lakewood High School. He loves the country, trucks and football. Michaela is a senior at Lowell High School. Michaela loves horses and wants to perhaps pursue a career in medicine.

Next we have Taryn Molag and Jerry Grieser. Both Taryn and Jerry are two of our AWESOME BOSS Reps for 2011. Taryn is a senior from Rogers High School and would like to pursue a career in veterinary medicine or nursing. Jerry attends Lakewood High School and is also headed for a career in medicine, with hopes of being a surgeon in Germany one day.

Best wishes to each of you for health, happiness and all your dreams to come true. We think you are all amazing and we can't wait to see where life takes you.

More Fabulous Seniors

The new school 2011-2012 year has begun and we are furiously getting our senior portrait sessions captured, edited and posted. Here are four more of our Fabulous seniors and a sampling of their sessions with us. First we have Hannah Gieger and Ryan Nanzer. Hannah attends Lakewood High School and plans on a career in medicine. Ryan Nanzer is a friend of Hannah's, but he attends Lowell High School and is headed for a career in the service of our country in the United States Army. Hooah Ryan and Best wishes Hannah!

Next we have friends Laura Vogelsang and Molly Smith, both girls attend Forest Hills Eastern High School. Molly is planning on heading to Central Michigan University to major in Elementary Special Education. Laura plans to pursue a career in medicine as a vet, nurse or athletic therapist for dancers. We wish both ladies great success in all of their future dreams and desires.

Becca & Brendon Sneak Peek

Yesterday, we (Jen & Nicole) had the distinct privilege of capturing Becca and Brendon's beautiful Wedding day. We had anticipated this occasion for some time and were more than thrilled to be a part of the festivities. We had many favorites from the day, but we thought we would post two of the most moving and emotion filled images that we feel we captured throughout the day.

The first is of course Becca and her mom Penny. Just previous to this photograph, Penny was putting on Becca's beautiful pearl necklace for her. We asked Penny to wrap her arms around her daughter just after that and the image below is the result of our request. We thought it exemplified the loving relationship they share and the realization that once upon a time, Becca was a little girl and now she is now all grown up :) (We had to wipe away a tear as we all were standing in the room with them).

The second image is of Becca and Brendon at the Masonic Temple, where their Reception was held. When we first arrived at the venue, we both had noticed the beautiful staircase, illuminated with romantic light. After the first dances, cake cutting, garter removal and bouquet toss, we asked if they would be willing to wander down the staircase for some portraits. We had them pose in one of the corners of the many flights of stairs, asking them to kiss (to which they happily obliged). The image below is the result and we hope you are as taken with it as we were! Becca and Brendon, we had such a fun time with you and your families last night, we wish you the best in this new chapter of your lives together! We will be in touch and happy Honeymoon!

Allie & Trevor - The Full Wedding Post

Wow! This Wedding post is very much overdue. We are glad that we finally are blogging about it now :) We captured Allie and Trevor's Wedding Day back in June in Jackson, MI. From the morning of the Wedding, to the sweet ceremony and fun reception, Allie, Trevor and their families had us smiling all day long. We could not have asked for better weather and the whole day we felt a special connection to the very memorable day. Mr. and Mrs. Baldwin, we hope that you are enjoying the new climate you find yourselves in since your move to California! One of our signature poses we usually try to do with all of our Couples, "The Dip." This is usually proceeded by a short tutorial of Jen & Nicole demonstrating "The Dip", it usually gets everyone laughing in no time!

Ilena & Kenny - Engagement Session

On a crisp, partly cloudy, Spring day we met Kenny and Ilena at Aquinas College for a REALLY fun engagement session. Kenny and Ilena have known each other for quite some time now (if we remember correctly, it was love at first sight around age 14 or 15? :) Anyway, we are sooo very excited to be a part of their upcoming July Wedding which will be taking place at the lovely Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park! Can you say Photographers dream? MmmHmmm! Ok, enough words, take a peek at how adorable these two are together, it is easy to tell that they are very much in love! Enjoy!

Senior Session Season!

We have been busy with senior sessions from Colorado to Michigan. Here are the first four of several more to come....

Brianna Williams is a senior at Crean Lutheran High School in Southern California. Brianna is involved in gymnastics and competitive cheer. She wanted her senior session captured in Rocky Mountain National Park, being the nature lovers that we are, we were happy to oblige.

Adam Barker is pictured with her, he is a senior from Lake Odessa, MI, loves sports, especially golf, basketball and tennis. His favorite subject is Math and he plans on pursing an engineering or professional golf management program in College.

Next we have Kristin Hilley and Seth Spitzely. They happen to be friends and both attend Lakewood High School in Lake Odessa, Michigan. Kristin works at Kellie's Design Team, plays Varsity Volleyball and is looking forward to college next Fall. Seth is a Lifeguard, loves to swim and is looking forward to pursuing a career in Psychology at Western or Saginaw Valley State University. Best wishes to these four for a fabulous senior year and life beyond high school.

Kara & Dan - Engagement

A few weekends ago, Jen & Nicole met Kara and Dan in Kalamazoo for their beautiful engagement session. The park that they had selected provided a lovely, colorful backdrop of blossoming summer flowers, alive with busy little bees and butterflies. Kara and Dan, we are so glad that you have selected us to be your Wedding Photographers, we feel so honored! You both are so in love and were such a pleasure to work with. We cannot wait for your special day in only a few short weeks :)
