Some test shots from the Kiev 19 Soviet-era 35mm SLR camera that I found at the thrift store. The thing is built like a tank and delightfully old-school. I used really cheap Kodak film for these tests just to see if it worked. I didn't realize that this camera has a light meter when I tested it, so I guessed at the exposure and aperture settings on all of these.

I scanned the negatives into the computer and added a little sharpening and color correction. You can see the original negative scans at the end.

An event that bills itself as an "Intergalactic Masquerade Dance Party" has a lot to live up too...But who knew Space could be so boring? Watch this quick video clip and then imagine that exact same music droning on for 45 minutes...after which I got bored with waiting for something interesting to happen and went home. But at least I got some good photos of the slowest ravers ever.
