By the time you read this, I’ll be well on my way to Maryland (or maybe already there if you’re sleeping in on your Christmas vacation by now!) for a well-needed break with my loves! So… I’m happy to announce the final giveaway for the “5 Days of Christmassy Giveaways”! So, the final giveaway is a 20×24 collage for one lucky winner made with your own favorite photos! I think people don’t print out enough of their photos nowadays with everything done on a computer, so this is your way of getting the photos you LOVE in a cool collage on your wall! It could be your all time favorites, or a themed collage… your family, kids, holiday, etc. The 20×24 will fit about 15-18 photos, and you’ll have a week to send them to me so I can design the collage and have the print sent to you! I met Holly Jean not long after she finished her makeup studies at the Makeup Designory (MUD) in Soho. She was referred by a friend and has since done the makeup for a lot of model tests I’ve photographed. Not only was she uber-fabulous at doing makeup & hair on the experienced models I was shooting from top agencies… but she was also such a sweet and calming presence to the new girls who haven’t been modeling long and were just thrown into the craziness that this industry can be! Thanks for always being so cool and up for anything Holly Jean! I know you’re going to go far in this business and it’s awesome to see how your faith grounds you and I really hope that it stays with you and you never let this industry change you! You are so perfect just the way you are. Here is Holly Jean’s story in her own words:

“I aspired to be a makeup artist since I first laid hands on a red lipstick at a dance competition at 10 years old. My passion for people tied in so perfectly with this magnificent dream I had. As a model for so many years, it’s been an important… if not THE most important part of the job to show up for shoots with clean and clear skin, and a good skin care regimen including facials is usually a good start. Recently, a friend of mine, Brittany, who works at Milla’s talked me into coming to see her for a facial even though I’ve been going to the same place, which shall remain nameless, for the last 8 years. But don’t let that fool you! Although they love doing events, they also make beautiful arrangements for delivery packages! I met Trish and Dave, the husband and wife team behind Karma Flowers at a wedding I photographed this year and was sold! The rustic, vintage-y designs they came up with blew my mind! It fit right in with the bride’s style of the day and I was so impressed with not only their floral arrangements, but also all the details they created to help bring the day together. They put together signs welcoming the guests, bar signs featuring special drinks, a “Mr. & Mrs.” sign at the bride & groom’s table, the fun moustache and lip bouquet that the guests pulled from for fun photos, and one of the most amazing pieces…. at the last minute the bride & groom decided they wanted to be married in front of a backdrop of 1,000 paper cranes… yes… ONE-THOUSAND paper cranes handmade and strung up to be the focal point of the ceremony! And they did it beautifully!

“Happy Mac Attack!”

I met Bernadett about 8 years ago on a modeling job right after she moved to NYC and the rest is history! haha! And when it comes to her macaroons… seriously… I didn’t know I had a macaroon addiction until she brought a dozen of them to one of my Christmas parties a few years ago… and I was HOOKED!!! They are so yummy and delicious and chewy to perfection. Uggghhhhh…. just thinking about them!!! I have to admit when Bern brought me over the macs today that she just freshly made for this giveaway, I had of course ordered about 6 dozen more for client gifts and of course for myself as well… and well… let’s just say my own plate didn’t last more than a couple hours. Yes my friends, this means I ate wedding cake I took home last night for breakfast, and macaroons for dinner. ha! I had Bern make me the Chocolate-dipped Himalayan Salt macaroons, which I HIGHLY recommend! I also tried the Chocolate-dipped  with BACON ones at my Christmas party this year and they were to die for as well! Here is the story of how Bernie’s Macs came to be in her own words:

“Bernie’s Macs grew from my love of cooking. I was born in Budapest, Hungary and lived all over the world, spoke 4 languages and developed an International palate by the age of 8. My mother and sisters are all incredible cooks! While working as a professional model with Wilhelmina, I  wanted to round out my skills in the kitchen and create a signature dessert that friends would swoon over.  I asked friends to come up with their favorite flavor combinations and voilà: bacon macaroons were born. There’s been a few weird ones but the newest flavors to hit palates are: bacon, Himalayan salt and cherry; a mix of savory and sweet seem to be pleasing to all. There are currently new flavors in my secret kitchen under development.. but they will remain a secret until Holiday 2012! Happy Macarooning!”

Bernie’s current flavors are Lemon, Orange, Himalayan Salt, Cherry, Bacon, Peppermint, & Peppermint Candy Crumble
