Our Ecommerce Evolution

In 2006, I started creating the original Jessica Rose online store. At the time, buying and selling clothing over the internet was such a new concept that I actually had people asking if I would be selling virtual outfits for gaming, and being surprised that I was, in fact, making and shipping real physical clothing!

Since then, I’ve had the experience of guiding many customers through their first online purchase, and now shopping online for just about everything has become part of our daily lives.

Over the years, I’ve been redesigning and developing the online store as the way we use technology changes and new possibilities emerge. As smartphones replace our desktop computers, you are now carrying our store in your pocket, and that dress is only a few clicks away. Just like in person, we’re here to help with an instant message or email.

What most excites me though, is how ecommerce is bringing the world closer together. You can now shop and pay on our website in your own currency, and neural machine translation has become so good that soon you'll be able to shop from us in five different languages! Darunter auch meine deutschen Freunde!

Every day, I am grateful for the people I have connected with and who trust me in making them look and feel their best (even from the opposite side of the globe!). Whether you’re new to online shopping or order like a pro, I’m here to make it easier.

As we get ready for the launch of the Toronto Light Festival 2018 tonight in the Distillery District, we are continuing with our Andean themes around the shop and keeping it cozy with a little flavour of retro Peruvian mountain folk music. We think this is just a really great record and wanted to share it with you because it brings smiles to our faces and hope that it does for you too. A great representation of an amazing country and the culture. Feel free to put on some headphones (or crank it up in your stereo) while you cozy up with some tea in a Jessica Rose alpaca knit sweater (and it will make you feel even warmer to know that they are all made in Peru with love!) One last thing before you hit play- we apologize if you get caught up in a dance frenzy, but not to worry, we have the perfect dresses for that too!

New Year's Inspiration and Beyond!

It was a big one in 2017 for Jessica Rose as a women's wear company, as well as the person too (along with Kyle, of course). We went into our 10th year of working in fashion and design in Canada, as well as going into our forth year of being in our beautiful fashion design studio and storefront in the Historic Distillery District, downtown Toronto. We continued to bring the classic made in Canada clothing you have all grown to love (and we love hearing it, thank you!), using the coolest printed fabrics from Liberty of London while continuing to research and source all the other best materials from all the best fabric mills around the world. We do this all so we can make your wardrobes beautiful, practical, functional, eco-friendly, economical and sustainable! That's right! We have heard quite a few stories this year of some of our original pieces still being in regular circulation, wow!

Oh yes, and we can't forget, the alpacas! Probably the biggest part of our year was our trip to Peru. Bringing you the high quality alpaca knit sweaters and accessories that you have already been enjoying over the Christmas break and will continue to keep you warm all winter long.

OK, alpacas are adorable and all, but it wasn't actually about them (well not completely), but rather we finally got to visit and meet with some of the people we've already been working with for years, see how and where everything is done and by who. This was by far more important to us than just getting a nice end product, and we are happy to say we were thoroughly impressed by everyone and everything that we saw! In fact, everything was actually better than we even imagined, even for our high quality expectations. As a side bonus, we got to explore the beautiful country of Peru too! Pretty good!

Overall, a very inspiring 2017 and we feel that 2018 will be even better! Just when we think we've pushed ourselves to the limits doing this fashion thing and living life, we sometimes even surprise ourselves with the exciting things that we keep on achieving! Always dreaming, always being inspired, we're going to keep on pushing on and we think you should come along too!

Spend a day in Toronto! We were featured as Where Magazine's first stop in their guide of things to do in the city!

Our advice is maybe show up a little closer to noon, it's takes some pretty strong coffee in the morning to get us there by 9:00am. We suggest getting the ice cream for breakfast instead, we won't tell... See you soon!
