With id software’s specialty in game engines, it could help Bethesda further optimize its game. At the same time, Bethesda’s expertise in story-telling and open exploration could help improve id software’s FPS games. One could only imagine the possibilities when both of their franchises become merged with an optimized engine and a good story-telling.

Doom on an open environment? Elder scrolls on a modern setting? We will have to wait to find out if these will ever come true.

However, there is something familiar about the design…

So this is game is more than just a remake, it is an opportunity to relive Gold/Silver + Ruby/Sapphire.

The new PSP go! is much smaller and much lighter than the original PSP and PSP Lite. It also features a smaller sliding screen to be more compact and easier to carry around. It also has an internal 16GB memory for all your gaming and multimedia needs. However the good feature stops there. Don’t be fooled by this product. It is merely a way for Sony to give a middle finger to game distributors and customers.

And guess what? Sony says screw you old PSP owners. Your UMD games are no longer playable. Too bad, the new PSP Go! no longer has a UMD drive, and instead sports and internal memory for downloadable games. Oh, and by the way, you retailers and distributors are cut off from Sony’s slice of profit. Games would have to be bought directly through their online store. Take that! You can no longer resell your game! I guess the used game sales market will no longer be a problem for Sony now. Also, why let distributors and retailers get a small profit on our products when Sony can have it all to themselves?

What is that? You don’t have a wi-fi internet connection? Well sorry you’re also screwed. Games can only be bought and downloaded that way. I guess you can always use the wi-fi from the nearest coffee shop. Sony doesn’t really care that wi-fi is not available to all of its potential customers. If you’re not cutting edge enough to use wi-fi, then the PSP Go! is not for you.

And lastly, remember how everybody complained about the analog nub on the original PSP? Well don’t fret, Sony made it even flatter and harder to use! Even the buttons and the directional pad are flatter! Who cares if they feel uncomfortable as long as its portable and lightweight. Because portability is the most important thing in a handheld right? right?…

If you analyze all of this, you’ll realize that the PSP Go! is not a product made for customers. It is a product made for Sony’s interest.

Duke Nukem Forever has been the butt of jokes for being a development disaster. The game aimed too high and underwent numerous iterations, and by the time they were finished, they have become obsolete and scrapped. This cycle had continued throughout the game’s life. Its has been almost a decade since its development and the closest they have got was just a teaser trailer.

And all those years of waiting was meant for nothing… NOTHING!

For those who weren’t old enough, GeoCities is a free website hosting service that was extremely popular during the early days of the internet. Back then, hosting your own website was still prohibitably expensive, but GeoCities offered a free option for new users. This caused an explosion of content within GeoCities, hosting anything from computer tutorials to humor and gossip. And all of these content were done with less than 10MB of space! Who couldn’t remember all those blinking text and animated backgrounds that became a trademark of that era? And who didn’t hate Yahoo’s ads that inserted itself on every opportunity it gets?

But sadly, in this time and age, Yahoo’s business model is now being disrupted by Google. Yahoo has now choice but to let go.

MySQL is currently under Sun, and soon Oracle, one of its competitors will buy Sun and claim MySQL. What does this forebode with MySQL’s future? Right now, MySQL is a huge threat to Oracle. For one, MySQL is free and open source, while you need to purchase Oracle. And MySQL’s market share cuts off Oracle’s bottom-line.

One scenario is that Oracle can simply drop MySQL support to kill off competition in the low-end market. They could also send MySQL to a slow death where future developments for MySQL are slowed or halted. Another possibility is that MySQL will be transformed into Oracle Lite and better integrate itself with Oracle. This opens up additional revenue from upgrading from MySQL to Oracle. The last outcome is that Oracle fortunately leaves MySQL alone to continue its normal operations, but everything is still uncertain at this point.

But in any case Oracle decides to be business-minded(greedy), expect a fork in the future.

The front-end would be a products list with all of the products in place and customers can filter which color and type of fruits they need to find.

Traditional wisdom would tell us that we would need to make a script that would send a query to the backend for every post request the reload the page for the search results.

However there are some instances that this approach has too much overhead on our backend and our database. In cases where all data has already been preloaded, we don’t have to query the database once again for data that is already available. We can simply use jQuery to control this information.

First of all, we need to make our form. Lets make 2 select boxes for our category selection:

Labelling the id of our elements is quite important so we can refer to them later in our script for triggering events and extracting values.

Now for displaying our data, in this case, we need to label each item properly to match with their respective categories. We can do this either manually for static pages or dynamically using your script of choice:

.item – This is the class of all the items from the list. This is important so we can show all, or ignore one of the categories when this is selected.
.red.berry, .blue.fruit, .yellow.fruit – Depending on the fruit’s category, we will apply the appropriate class. For example, an item under blue and berry will have class=”item blue berry”

And finally to piece it all together, we would need the jQuery script to filter our list based on our trigger:

So what does this script basically do?

When #btnFilter has been clicked, it takes the value of #fruitType and #fruitColor. If it detects that both categories are set to “any”, it will display everything on the list.

If the categories for fruitType and fruitColor and both set, it will only display items in the list that fits the class criteria of both.

Now if it detects that just one of the categories is set to “any”, it sets the selector for the category to an empty string to the category will be omitted. Only one of the categories will then take effect.
