While these recovery codes should be your lifeline in such situations, they can sometimes get lost, especially when transitioning between devices or storage methods. The real challenge, however, lies in Facebook's support system.

Facebook's support for individual users can be quite lacking, particularly in comparison to the support they offer advertisers. Even within their business support section, the provided chat support may not always yield satisfactory results. This can be a frustrating experience for those who rely on the platform for various purposes.

A Ray of Hope:

In my case, reaching out to Meta (formerly Facebook) support through my full-time job as an advertiser was the key to resolving the issue. They provided me with one-time passcodes that allowed me to regain access to my account on all devices.

However, when I tried to use these codes to reset the 2FA authenticator, I encountered an error, as the codes provided had 8 digits while the system expected 6 digits.

Persistence Pays Off:

Almost a year later, the issue resurfaced, with Facebook once again logging me out of my devices. The original support email I had used was no longer functional, but I persevered and found another contact within Meta support.

This time, they provided me with recovery codes. Taking a chance, I tried using these codes to reset the 2FA authenticator, even though they had more digits than required. Surprisingly, it worked! This allowed me to disable the authenticator and reset it, all while promptly saving the recovery codes for future use.
