As promised here is an update on the book cover illustration and design for  Gayle Nastasi’s latest book in the Junior Handler’s Mystery Series - Wild Wings of Danger,  to be published by Fehrman Books.
I had the foresight (for once) to screenshot as I got into painting it in Photoshop, so you lucky viewers get to see how it all came together. I know, I know, it’s not like it’s the Mona Lisa - but if I don’t toot my own horn, no-one else will!

Here’s a little sneak peak for you of my latest project. Cover illustration and design for  Gayle Nastasi’s latest book in the Junior Handler’s Mystery Series - Wild Wings of Danger,  to be published by Fehrman Books.
And I suppose this is an opportunity to show you a bit more of my process when doing my artwork, so I’ll try and take regular pics as I begin the painting in Photoshop.

The Silver Dog I

As some of you may or may not know, I’ve recently started work on a children’s book that has been brewing in my head for some time now. I can’t even remember at what point I wrote the words down - it was a few years ago, and I’ve been mulling over the illustrations for it for quite a while (as usual). Anyway, I finally got my act together and started work on it the other night, and so, I thought I would use this blog to track its progress.
So here is sketch number 1 - though I might add, it’s not in the order that the story is, this was just the one I had clearest in my head. I don’t plan on posting the accompanying words here (I’ve got to keep some secrets ;-) So you can make up your own if you like - or guess what the words are!)

The Sabbath Manifesto

Just a quick post for the for the discovery of something new and interesting.
After reading an article about the importance of down-time when it comes to creativity and allowing your mind to rest away from distraction, I was taken to a site called Sabbath Manifesto - a “creative project designed to slow down lives in an increasingly hectic world”.
It’s a very simple idea; 10 simple principles to get some of that crucial down-time for ourselves that is becoming increasingly rare in this technology soaked world. These principles include:
• Avoid Technology (this will be a tough one for me!)
• Connect with loved ones (something I need to get better at)
• Find Silence (another toughy)
Take a look at the site to view the rest - I’m going to try to commit to doing this on my Sunday, it’ll be interesting to see what a difference it will make. I’m sure it will be good.
