Room Renovation

Since my Mom and I now left in my place, we decided to downsize and make few changes starting in our bedrooms. For now we repainted one bedroom and move few furniture around. Mom wanted her bed more in the center now instead of being on the side and our vanity tables we switch them around because the one she had did not matched with her new color to make the bedroom more lighter color. It took us few days to rearrange the furniture around and couple of days for dry time of the paint. Just that simple change in her room made a big difference to the way it look and feel inside her bedroom. Next project will be the living room. I think I will remove the carpet and replace it with hardwood flooring. I wonder what will be the outcome.

Just few days ago I celebrated my birthday. All my friends and family showed up. My mom particularly, helped me fixed some of the food. We had a great time even it was just a simple party we throw out. I noticed lots of the cards I receive was custom gift card. It is really more special being done customized. With computer printers nowadays, anyone who knows how to use a computer, pretty much know how to print her own card.

We primarily served Filipino food and my favorite is adobo and pancit. Most of my American friends look for my "lumpia" it is an Filipino eggroll and of course we serve rice. Bibingka and biko for dessert. Hopefully we will have another gathering this spring, I might try making cassava cake. So some of my friends are not sure what I was serving so they asked. It turn out fun and tummy filled.

It has been three months since I started my home renovation. Since Home Depot is pretty much the main and bigger store for things I needed in my area so I spent more time looking for any upgrades for my home fixtures. Last November I started removing carpet in my living room and now installed new hard floor. I like the looks of it though it is pretty much different walking in hard surface that when it was padded carpet. I don't remember how many times I've been back and forth in the hardware store and lumber. I even went through the tool section and picked all the main tools necessary to make the job and I remember passing by the welding equipment as I look around for soldering materials. If I can remember right, my first power tool was my drill then I got the sander, then another drill to use as screw driver so I did not have to go back and forth, then I had the circular saw. Now I got myself a router table and saw , a miter saw and a table saw for the next job. I found out that having these tools saves me time and also easy on my hands and body. It is worth to spend money on tools . With all these power equipment mentioned, always have SAFETY FIRST.

I recently got into wood working and unlike most people would say that do not buy or get into much investment until you become advance wood worker. I now believe that having the right tool saves time and also make the job easier. I may not going to buy the most expensive tools but buy the right tool need to do the job.

I always wonder how those wooden crafts were made, the workmanship and the effort it takes to do the project just like the good wood nyc. These detail job always impresses me though I easily get curious and wanted to try doing things myself. I have seen craft maker and sell their products as young as nine year old.

With all that said, I decided to make my first piece of furniture project for my mom. I made her a six drawer dresser. I made it in five days, doing it after my work and all I need is put handle and finish it. I enjoy doing it though I had so much trouble being a first timer but I find it much easier doing the job starting with sharp saws and precession cutting. Next time I will start posting the pictures of my wood working projects.

Lately I have been real interested with home designs, renovations, and home and garden ideas particularly doing it by myself. There are lots of things that can be learned just by watching the show.It helps and gives you hints on particular locations like finding apartments for rent in Calgary. I may help my friend find her place to stay but being a home owner is different because it gives me the freedom to change decor or painting color as you please. I can imagine before when I have to rent an apartment that even simple as putting up a picture frame scares you.

I surely enjoy owning my house and watching now on television shows about real estate where it gives you tips and great ideas about buying a house. One show particularly is about Canada realty and helping people buy properties in Canada, mostly from Toronto and they even assist people who are looking apartments. I can see why lots of people choose to rent but after watching these shows, it give me a lot of ideas and help you decide between renting or buying a home. I guess it just depends on how much stable you are in the area or if you even qualify for mortgage.

I already managed to change color in my living room twice and redid my carpet floor into hardwood floors. I really love the hardwood now compare to the old carpeting specially with my two little dogs, it make the cleaning up so easy. No more carpet shampooing and dusty vacuuming every week.One of the changes I made and created a huge difference is I removed the peninsula cabinet in my kitchen and created an open floor layout and made an island from the cabinets off the peninsula to match the old cabinetry. All these ideas I got from watching television shows and being inspired by what I saw and created my own project. I love my kitchen now and I am still trying to do more project around house. Next one would be more woodworking. Hope to get more inspiration.

I went through my old photos back in collage over the weekend and came across this particular photo of a friend. She is my roommate's sister. I got along with my roommate just like a sister so every time her sisters visited, I am always part of the visit and so her sisters became my real good friends too. It was through her that I learned to play guitar. I remember the first song she taught me and it was only four tabs played repeatedly and it played the music. She then have to sell her guitar to me due to financial reason. She uses the guitar even after I bought it but I do the changing of cello strings every time it needs replacements. Oh well, I really enjoy playing and now that I am here in States, I bought myself a new set. Though I still remember Liza.

I very seldom go to dollar stores because I seem to buy goodies that was not needed but only the things I like. I was surprised last time I went I saw items that I did not expect got sold in their stores. Iphone accessories like the one I like most is clear case and even the retractable Iphone USB/data cord which I used and really needed badly so I can recharge my phone. So I decided to grab three pieces of each so I can plug one in my car and one in my kitchen and one in bedroom. I told my friends and family about it and they too grab few. These are just few items I like in dollar stores. Last Christmas I bought lots of gift wrapping and bags for all presents here. So next time you have parties, try going to dollar stores first, you never know how much deals you get and cut the cost for a colorful party.

My husband is currently getting his Doctorate in Education. He did a lot of research about different graduate programs before deciding to do an online program. He told me that we would have to get clear internet so that he could complete all of his assignments since the program he would be attending is in another state. The program will take him three years to complete, which is not bad considering he is also working full-time teaching. This program could not fit our family’s lifestyle any better. My husband usually spends a few hours each week staying at school to complete his grad school work, so it really has not had a big impact on our family thus far. He told me that as the program progresses his assignments will become longer and more difficult. I told him that we will just have to adapt because I know it is something he has to do. He will get a significant pay increase once the program is complete. We will spend a few years after that repaying his student loans, but after those are repaid he will be making a lot more money. I am so proud of him for all of his hard work he is doing for our family.

My girlfriend who lives in Canada spent time with my family for the holiday. It has been almost two years now that we have to live apart due to immigration and work. There have been plans of me moving to Edmonton but I just cannot leave my family behind and with economy being bad in United States, it is hard to move and sell my house without selling it real low price or have to wait so long to sell. So we decided to just do visits every often until we decide to settle.

I like it in Canada but there are lots of things to consider but I don't mind trying to move temporarily but not any longer than a year just so we can be together longer. I am hoping she will get her permanent resident status this summer so she can probably try to find a different employer and move in closer to the border near Washington State.This has been our long term goal to be able to be close together so we can spend more time with family and friends. For now, we are just glad and enjoy of her being able to cross the U.S. Canada border.

After the holiday vacation, now I am starting to catch up with my old and normal routine. Back to work again and start doing patient visit instead of doing Cooking Jobs for the holiday. I was doing lots of cooking and serving special food and holiday treats. I enjoyed every minute of it specially spending precious time with my family. Cooking and baking is very tasking job but when you make it int a family matter, it become more fun. I do not want to get started like some other people who have made Christmas so commercialized and into material stuff. I like to make it the way I was raised who enjoy Christmas with family and enjoy each others company visiting or playing games together. It is already a custom in my family the gift giving on Christmas Eve. We don't have baby in our family , everyone has grown and the idea of gifts to give has changed. Nowadays people pretty much look at electronics for gift. I give gifts by theme or some practical ideas, like very useful to the person I give it to. I know some people in my family like the custom gifts so I thought of giving a custom coin for Christmas. Tinay specially like coins so I believe she will treasure this. Last year I gave her a custom towel and she really liked it, then her birthday I gave her custom printed hoodies of her favorite team at school with her name on it. Christmas is coming soon and a lot of people doing the Christmas shopping rush to give for Christmas as gifts. Last Black Friday sale I saw lots of people do there Christmas shopping and with all that traffic and sales everything went smoothly because everything was done electronically at the checkout counter. There were lots of sales representatives that assisted as you enter the store. The same in grocery stores, almost everywhere you can see Honeywell Barcode Scanner systems being used. If without these technologies, there will be a lot of people in line to pay at the counter. Some grocery stores and hardware stores use the barcode system for automatic check out where you just scan the barcode area as you check out and it will automatically recognize the item you bought and prized. I really like to use this every time specially when I only have few items to check, it makes shopping easier and faster without having to stand in line for long.

We all know that Black Friday Sale is the biggest slash down sale of the year. I get excited when I see savings and discounts. Tomorrow is checking where we going to go shopping. I never go out real early but I do go out that day to shop. Like last year my girlfriend gave me Luminox navy seal watches as part of my collection. She knows I like watches and that day she got it real low price. We like to check on shoes and clothing. It is a great way to spend time together too and do something we both like. The only thing is, making sure we stay on our budget, no sense buying things when you have no money for it. Most great prices are best when you show up real early, but I am not a morning person, I probably don't know my direction if I go shop that early. Usually we go around eight or nine in the morning after having a cup of coffee or breakfast. No sense going shopping on an empty stomach.

My mom just got back from the Philippines in time for the Thanksgiving day celebration. She went to Cebu City Philippines to do some business regarding real estate. Some documentation needs copies of certain papers that is still here in the States. I am glad I have document imaging software and made the transaction smooth and hassle free. Everything turn out fine and accepted without problem. It is an advantage to have and very handy when time like such. If I know my mom, she easily discourage on little things if it don't turn out fine on first try. She has been realy down lately with the loss of my Dad so this really helped and save some trouble. She knows little about technical stuff so she don't really know how simple task could sometimes be problematic if not done right or if do not have the right tools or software. It is very hard to explain technical things if she does not know much abaout it. Ohh well, all I know is simple software like this really saves time and headache.

For me, all babies are cute and cuddly. I am almost always tempted to pinch or touch a baby's face because they are simply irresistible and so adorable. I have seen babies on commercial advertisements and I really believe these are cool but it make me wonder how does some of these babies feel or when they grow up and look back baby modeling years. It must be cool if you come to think of it , like the gerber baby, wonder how old she or he really is now and able to look back how her photo become the official gerber logo? Or is there such Gerber baby? How do parents get to sign up to have their babies become models? I am all for money making and earning so I guess this is a great idea for some parents that want to get their babies started on the spotlight of cameras. Of course, the cute smile, chubby cheeks and smooth healthy baby skin is what most people look for when we think babies. It is still traditional cards that you can design or customize and preview to suit your style. Instead of going to a store and wait until you get a sales person to help you and look through their catalogs, why not do it online at the convenience of your own home without having to wait for someone to help you. Although this is an online card printing, they do have customer service that can assist you for more inquiry. I really like the idea of customizing my cards so next time, I am definitely going to try this service.

I have watched shows on television about people making money on second hand items, or bidding furniture in a real estate sale. I really think there is money on other peoples junk specially if you have the artistic mind or creative ideas, you can pretty much transform an old bed frame and refinish it to give it a new face or rustic lamps can turn into something that look antique with little sanding and varnishing. I am fund of fixing stuffs so this ideas really interests me. So during summer, yard sale and garage sale is a frequent weekend task and then go to farmers market after. I have also sold some of our items that is not usable anymore or grown out clothes or even electronics that we just recently upgraded. Next time you have nothing to do for a summer weekend, try going yard sale.

Halloween is one of kids favorite speacial yearly event. I know most kids really look forward to this date. I have noticed some organizations specially church groups tried to change the way people celebrate Halloween. Instead of scary monsters or meassy zombies or vampires , this group try to wear like angels and biblical characters. In some office groups also celebrate Halloween by wearing super heroes or Hollywood charcaters. I really enjoy watching some halloween decorations in the neighborhood. I may not be a zombie or scary movie fanatic but people do get really creative with decorations. I saw some people uses bale of hay to create a maze or boxes to make it look like coffins in front of their house. Cob web really made it look like the house is abandoned and here my neighbor actually have some sound effects. Black cat would be part of the sight, or witches. One time this witch decoration made it look like it slammed on the wall. It really looked funny. My coworker had a broom with sign on it that says "the witches at work". It is really fun and intertaining!

The pumpkin carving. Yes! it won't be complete without the pumpins. Carving pumpkins is not an easy thing to do nor it is safe. I would not recommend little kids to do this without adult supervision. As fun as it seems but dealing with sharp knives and blades is dangerous and not safe at all. So make sure to keep an eye of your children when doing this. Some people do not even carve the pumpkins, they just create something aout of it to make an object or something, like a man with pumpin head. This way, you can really be creative. .

There have been several disadvantages about buying a clunker or should I say a fixer-upper items but you can make money on them too if you are like me who likes to touch up things and fix stuffs, then you know what I am talking about. There are lots of ways to make money fixing things. Like last summer I bought a used ATV for three hundred but the owner said some problem starting it. I went ahead and bought the needed parts after few hours of troubleshooting to an ATV Parts Store. I feel so great after spending less than two hundred on parts and it run like a charm. My dad fought lung cancer for more than a year. He has so much faith to prayers, miracles and also he thinks medicine has advance so much it can cure almost any disease. That was my dad, being from the Philippines compared to U.S. , it really has great advancement here in States. Ever thought of hormones? I wonder how hormone contribute to our disease process. Hormone replacement therapynow been offered to some hospitals as part of disease prevention. I have great belief that prevention is better than cure. Health insurance should encourage this and cover the therapy. Wonder how much they would save preventing a disease than going through paying every single treatment of major diseases. HOW TO HIDE FOLDER IN PC

It is not very often that you want to hide a file in your pc but for some of those that wanted to know how, this is the post for you.
1. Right click the folder or file that you want to hide and click "properties". Refer to photo below.

2. Once property window pops out, all you need go to attibutes and check mark "hidden" box . click "apply" and then "ok" . This will hide the floder/file. Goodluck!

How to Disable Auto RUN Programs

It is very common that we make some programs run automatically but later we change computer use or we simply change our mind and decide to not run the program automatically. Not to mention some of the programs by default , run without asking your permission. Here is a simple way to change the settings and stop those programs from running automatically.

1. Open "RUN" dialog box by clicking the Windows Logo+R and click RUN .

2. Type in "misconfig" in the dialog box. (In some computers, it will open a user control warning....just click "CONTINUE")

3. New window "SYSTEM CONFIGURATION" will open and click "SERVICES" tab. It will show all the programs that are set to run automatically.

4. UNCHECK the program you want to stop running automatically. Click "ok" and that's it. It will ask you to restart in order for the latest to work or restart later, just pick your choice and there you go, the next time you start your PC, it will stop the programs you set to stop running automatically

Last December I went to visit my girlfriend and we decided to stay in Radisson Suites Hotel Toronto Airport. After several delays and cancelled flights, I was glad to stay in this hotel. The rooms were great, clean, spacious, free wifi, very friendly and helpful front desk. It is located very close to the airport and Tim Horton is just in front of it. I really liked my stay at this hotel and recommended this place. I would like to stay here again although I kinda like to try different hotels ...but this place is definitely on my favorite list for Toronto/Missisauga area.

The other day I went with mom to go shopping at Walmart for groceries. I am not really fond of Walmart shopping specially recently they renovated and rearrange everything in the store and it is harder to find things around. Halloween is coming yey! We carved some pumpkin just for the fun of it. We saw this pattern and followed it. We made two carving design out of one pumpkin. Last night we put candle inside it and turn off the porch light to see how it look. It look really nice the way is it is. Last Oct 15th I celebrated my birthday though my birthday anniversary falls on different date but because I will be busy again next week, we decided to celebrate it ahead than scheduled. My mom and dad treat me to Pizza Hut along with my friends. Only 8 of us made it but it was still ok. We enjoy our pizza and ordered 4 large pizza wow! that was plenty. We had about every pizza that every one wanted. Meat lovers, Hawaiian, Super Supreme and Pepperoni my favorite hehehe. After that my dad got me a very delicious chocolate cake and we were so full so I hardly able to take more bite of that cake.

Parents usually get panic or get helpless when their child get symptoms like colds ,coughs, ear infection and sore throat. Often times they think and expect antibiotic would solve the problem but antibiotics are not always the answer to cure these symptoms. I post this specially to parents that live in the Philippines where antibiotics are dispensed over the counter not even needing prescription. As a child that was raised back in the Philippines I have been a victim of miss treatment of a simple ear infection. Parents be advised that Antibiotics are not used for bacterial infections.&
