Spending Memorial Day with Friends

My whole family is going to Spokane this weekend and planned on staying at my friend Linda's. It has been almost a year since we last visited Spokane with my family, usually it's only me who travels. This Memorial day gives us extra day of visiting time. I will mostly go out and do some shopping but the rest will be visiting. Linda is my best friend , she is the only one and she is almost like my sister. I used to helped her out when she needs someone to watch over her kids or house sit for her. Jhunie, the eldest plays guitar well and if I remembered right his wish is to buy Benedetto before the end of this year. I would like to see how well Jhunie does with his instruments. It would be so interesting to see how much Linda's kids have grown. They pretty much treated me as part of the family.

My friend Erica brought the biggest influence of my guitar interest , this was way back in college when I first got a hold of her palomino guitar. It sounded real beautiful to my ears and the way the strum the guitar was just impressive. She taught me few notes so I can play one of my favorite song, and just that, I got hooked! Funny how one simple start can bloom into some kind of interest and since then got me a new guitar set. I may not be the best guitar player but I love playing my guitar. I hope someday I get to pass it on to someone , a friend or perhaps a family member. It don't really take much to learn to play guitar, it just needs your heart put into it and follow the beat. Next thing you know is you are playing music and it is more fun playing it with other friends who can teach you and give you ideas.

Budgeting the Time You Don't Have

I have been real busy at work lately, I finally took the offer from different agency , so now I have more clients. I have gotten less and less clients to see in the last few months. Until two weeks ago, I was not able to pass out the offer. So, lately I have been working double job and working extra time. I still do not want to let go of blogging, I enjoy doing this. It is my way to express what I think and share my opinion. But of course sometime I just getting slow about posting, even my household chores has been left out, some of my Christmas lights still need to be taken down to storage, and now the Easter table decorations needs to be put away. I just can seem to find extra time to do things specially now even after work, I still do my home renovation at night. I am just surprised I get enough energy to get up in the morning and go back to work. My clients inspires me, and I know what I am doing now will someday benefit my future resident at my own home care.

My girlfriend got an email from her niece back in Hong Kong last week and she was real excited to her from her. It's almost two years now since my girlfriend left Hong Kong. I can remember back when Cel would practice playing saxophone in the background while I talk to my girlfriend on phone. Cel just started playing saxophone at that time so I don't exactly hear rights notes or sometimes not knowing what music she was playing if you ever call it music or noise at that time. I am no expert on saxophones but I can't really tell the difference between practice type saxophones over P. Mauriat Pro Jazz Saxophones by looks but I am sure once I listen to it playing side by side, then I would know the difference. There been few times I would rather hang up because the sound on background was louder and I can't hear my girlfriend's voice clear enough. Now if Cel probably used one of these E-Sax practice mute system, I can imagine how many people, not to mention neighbors would appreciate this. I have to be honest, I did not even know there was such thing but thinking of the benefit it would be to eliminate the loud noise while practicing. So, with E-sax practice mute system in place, you can even practice at night and not to worry about waking up your neighbors or hearing complains or be told to hush it. I do understand that practice makes perfect but sometimes when it is just too loud, I can't blame neighbors to complain. Besides, saxophones are real loud so this item would really be nice to have then you can practice without reserve. I believe the neat part is there are some plugs so you can record or play along with CD. I think this is real neat to have even for professional player. What really got me was to see Cel's video link playing one of Kenny G's music, and what a difference! She really played well. My girlfriend is real proud of Cel, looking back when she helped Cel when Cel feel disappointed during practice. One thing though, Cel turned out to be a great musician. I am happy for her.

So my friend now been hospitalized for weeks and being a single mom, she had a hard time making ends meet, from utility bills to car insurance and all. After visiting her last weekend, she was more worried now how can she make it after recovering and how she pays the bills. She had insurance which is a relief and I tried to keep her mind set positively by mentioning other benefit she qualifies. She said if worse comes worse, she had thought of checking title loans Michigan which she heard from her co worker. I thought that was a great option even for myself too. I never thought of that but it is a good idea. I am going to read more about it and maybe next time I can call her and talk more about it. I know how hard it is nowadays to qualify for anything, but I know my friend will be okay. I can't wait to her from her next week, she is expecting to get out of the hospital by then.

Weekend Visit with Friend

Last weekend I visited a friend who just got out of hospital after a car accident. The news was shocking and spread out to our group of friends. It is hard to wait not knowing her actual condition or how bad the accident was when I first heard it. So, it was a relief to finally see her and talk to her. Lots of questions answered and all the wondering finally cleared. She is recovering real well, I stayed for about an hour and stayed when they served her lunch. I noticed how hard it is for her to get out of her bed so that overbed table really helpful. She can still feed herself but the moving around and getting up is still painful and lots of sore spots. Her body is covered with bruises and scratches, I can understand why she would rather stay in bed and not want to me moved much. I missed her company, I am just glad she survived that accident and thank God for watching her.

I've worked and assisted patients at their homes during transfers and therapies where I need to sometimes give exercises to patients who have problem with balance or recovering from surgery. I try to maintain good body mechanics to save my back and having to avoid getting Spine surgery Houston which would mean keeping me off work and maybe away for awhile. I am very active person and I would not want to be confine so as much as possible, I would do my best to save my back and stay away from invasive procedures. I am not really scared of doctors or hospitals, I just want to avoid it as much as I can possible. For more than twelve years now of bending over, lifting and assisting patients , I could say I am still doing well.

I am not the best person when it comes to managing time although I have managed few solutions to help me out of chaos. With busy schedule mixing family time, house chores, work and not to mention now I am working for 2 agencies and maintaining two private clients, I could say that if without time management, I could easily miss appointments or schedules. I even have to send a belated mothers day gifts due to forgetfulness. One of the few things I love about my cell phone is the calendar. Without this cell phone app, I would be full of sticky notes and alarms. Most people have cell phones now and the fact that is is light and easy to put in pocket or purse makes it ideal tool as I carry my phone anywhere I go. The ability to give you several alerts even far advance and few minutes away is perfect for me who used to constantly forget appointments. This is just few of the things I love about my cell phone.

It has been said, time is money and money is time so it just make sense that you have to spend time more efficiently. I have done few projects at home and at times I do it the hard way because I did not have the proper tools to do the job. It primarily because I could not afford to buy the tool or I thought it was not that hard to do. I always think about getting the right tool once I am stuck with my project. Like my friend who started to fix his own car, he is a big guy and have lots of experience with cars but I told him if he just buy a gear puller it would make it simple and saves his back from twisting and bending in most awkward position. I was not trying to be an expert but body mechanics is my expertise which he was poorly positioned that day. I am not getting any younger and saving your back just from bending and twisting is simple , you just have to remind yourself. I should say , save time and your back , just buy the tools. Sure was, the end of that week I heard him complain of his back aches. I hate to say I told you so.

I believe most people collect something , it could be coins, cars, mugs, stamps , the list goes on but are you the type of collector who care for it's monetary value or you collect it for a different reason and it has sentimental value. Most people I met so far at their young age collect more stuff with sentimental value. Some are family inherit so it has more sentimental value to them than others but don't you want to know exactly how much is the actual value of the things you are collecting or in hand? I like to make research online for close guess. I have several coins collected and this particular kind I want to see a morgan dollar price guide to see value of each coin by year it was circulated. I've had it for years now and it was given to me by father who had it for years. After he found out that I have growing interest on coin collecting, he shared me few of his. I would keep it for special reason and hand it down from my generation down. Some things just money cannot buy.

Simple Trick to Use Bluetooth on SKYPE Calls with Android Device

This TRICK I have personally tried using Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket S2 to use my bluetooth but I came across the same problem, I even got AD2P bluetooth headset hoping to use bluetooth headset when using skype but big disappointment when all my media sound work perfectly but during skype call, it just connect but doesn't work. So I managed to trick skype audio (making sure bluetooth is already paired and connected.)
This works for me but it still uses the devices mic not the bluetooth. Tested on my Samsung galaxy skyrocket S2 using AD2P bluetooth headset (Motorola HX550). I tried the regular bluetooth (non AD2P and it does not work)

#1 exiting skype on task manager

#2 plug the headset/mic in the jack (to trick skype that is is using the headset)

#3 now make a skype call ( you can unplug the headset once you see it ringing under headset *icon headset and it should not show that your skype call is on bluetooth mode, it should be on earpiece *icon once headset is unplug )

Room Renovation

Since my Mom and I now left in my place, we decided to downsize and make few changes starting in our bedrooms. For now we repainted one bedroom and move few furniture around. Mom wanted her bed more in the center now instead of being on the side and our vanity tables we switch them around because the one she had did not matched with her new color to make the bedroom more lighter color. It took us few days to rearrange the furniture around and couple of days for dry time of the paint. Just that simple change in her room made a big difference to the way it look and feel inside her bedroom. Next project will be the living room. I think I will remove the carpet and replace it with hardwood flooring. I wonder what will be the outcome.

Just few days ago I celebrated my birthday. All my friends and family showed up. My mom particularly, helped me fixed some of the food. We had a great time even it was just a simple party we throw out. I noticed lots of the cards I receive was custom gift card. It is really more special being done customized. With computer printers nowadays, anyone who knows how to use a computer, pretty much know how to print her own card.

We primarily served Filipino food and my favorite is adobo and pancit. Most of my American friends look for my "lumpia" it is an Filipino eggroll and of course we serve rice. Bibingka and biko for dessert. Hopefully we will have another gathering this spring, I might try making cassava cake. So some of my friends are not sure what I was serving so they asked. It turn out fun and tummy filled.

It has been three months since I started my home renovation. Since Home Depot is pretty much the main and bigger store for things I needed in my area so I spent more time looking for any upgrades for my home fixtures. Last November I started removing carpet in my living room and now installed new hard floor. I like the looks of it though it is pretty much different walking in hard surface that when it was padded carpet. I don't remember how many times I've been back and forth in the hardware store and lumber. I even went through the tool section and picked all the main tools necessary to make the job and I remember passing by the welding equipment as I look around for soldering materials. If I can remember right, my first power tool was my drill then I got the sander, then another drill to use as screw driver so I did not have to go back and forth, then I had the circular saw. Now I got myself a router table and saw , a miter saw and a table saw for the next job. I found out that having these tools saves me time and also easy on my hands and body. It is worth to spend money on tools . With all these power equipment mentioned, always have SAFETY FIRST.

I recently got into wood working and unlike most people would say that do not buy or get into much investment until you become advance wood worker. I now believe that having the right tool saves time and also make the job easier. I may not going to buy the most expensive tools but buy the right tool need to do the job.

I always wonder how those wooden crafts were made, the workmanship and the effort it takes to do the project just like the good wood nyc. These detail job always impresses me though I easily get curious and wanted to try doing things myself. I have seen craft maker and sell their products as young as nine year old.

With all that said, I decided to make my first piece of furniture project for my mom. I made her a six drawer dresser. I made it in five days, doing it after my work and all I need is put handle and finish it. I enjoy doing it though I had so much trouble being a first timer but I find it much easier doing the job starting with sharp saws and precession cutting. Next time I will start posting the pictures of my wood working projects.

Lately I have been real interested with home designs, renovations, and home and garden ideas particularly doing it by myself. There are lots of things that can be learned just by watching the show.It helps and gives you hints on particular locations like finding apartments for rent in Calgary. I may help my friend find her place to stay but being a home owner is different because it gives me the freedom to change decor or painting color as you please. I can imagine before when I have to rent an apartment that even simple as putting up a picture frame scares you.

I surely enjoy owning my house and watching now on television shows about real estate where it gives you tips and great ideas about buying a house. One show particularly is about Canada realty and helping people buy properties in Canada, mostly from Toronto and they even assist people who are looking apartments. I can see why lots of people choose to rent but after watching these shows, it give me a lot of ideas and help you decide between renting or buying a home. I guess it just depends on how much stable you are in the area or if you even qualify for mortgage.

I already managed to change color in my living room twice and redid my carpet floor into hardwood floors. I really love the hardwood now compare to the old carpeting specially with my two little dogs, it make the cleaning up so easy. No more carpet shampooing and dusty vacuuming every week.One of the changes I made and created a huge difference is I removed the peninsula cabinet in my kitchen and created an open floor layout and made an island from the cabinets off the peninsula to match the old cabinetry. All these ideas I got from watching television shows and being inspired by what I saw and created my own project. I love my kitchen now and I am still trying to do more project around house. Next one would be more woodworking. Hope to get more inspiration.

I went through my old photos back in collage over the weekend and came across this particular photo of a friend. She is my roommate's sister. I got along with my roommate just like a sister so every time her sisters visited, I am always part of the visit and so her sisters became my real good friends too. It was through her that I learned to play guitar. I remember the first song she taught me and it was only four tabs played repeatedly and it played the music. She then have to sell her guitar to me due to financial reason. She uses the guitar even after I bought it but I do the changing of cello strings every time it needs replacements. Oh well, I really enjoy playing and now that I am here in States, I bought myself a new set. Though I still remember Liza.

I very seldom go to dollar stores because I seem to buy goodies that was not needed but only the things I like. I was surprised last time I went I saw items that I did not expect got sold in their stores. Iphone accessories like the one I like most is clear case and even the retractable Iphone USB/data cord which I used and really needed badly so I can recharge my phone. So I decided to grab three pieces of each so I can plug one in my car and one in my kitchen and one in bedroom. I told my friends and family about it and they too grab few. These are just few items I like in dollar stores. Last Christmas I bought lots of gift wrapping and bags for all presents here. So next time you have parties, try going to dollar stores first, you never know how much deals you get and cut the cost for a colorful party.

My husband is currently getting his Doctorate in Education. He did a lot of research about different graduate programs before deciding to do an online program. He told me that we would have to get clear internet so that he could complete all of his assignments since the program he would be attending is in another state. The program will take him three years to complete, which is not bad considering he is also working full-time teaching. This program could not fit our family’s lifestyle any better. My husband usually spends a few hours each week staying at school to complete his grad school work, so it really has not had a big impact on our family thus far. He told me that as the program progresses his assignments will become longer and more difficult. I told him that we will just have to adapt because I know it is something he has to do. He will get a significant pay increase once the program is complete. We will spend a few years after that repaying his student loans, but after those are repaid he will be making a lot more money. I am so proud of him for all of his hard work he is doing for our family.

Long Distance Relationship Challenges

My girlfriend who lives in Canada spent time with my family for the holiday. It has been almost two years now that we have to live apart due to immigration and work. There have been plans of me moving to Edmonton but I just cannot leave my family behind and with economy being bad in United States, it is hard to move and sell my house without selling it real low price or have to wait so long to sell. So we decided to just do visits every often until we decide to settle.

I like it in Canada but there are lots of things to consider but I don't mind trying to move temporarily but not any longer than a year just so we can be together longer. I am hoping she will get her permanent resident status this summer so she can probably try to find a different employer and move in closer to the border near Washington State.This has been our long term goal to be able to be close together so we can spend more time with family and friends. For now, we are just glad and enjoy of her being able to cross the U.S. Canada border.

After the holiday vacation, now I am starting to catch up with my old and normal routine. Back to work again and start doing patient visit instead of doing Cooking Jobs for the holiday. I was doing lots of cooking and serving special food and holiday treats. I enjoyed every minute of it specially spending precious time with my family. Cooking and baking is very tasking job but when you make it int a family matter, it become more fun. I do not want to get started like some other people who have made Christmas so commercialized and into material stuff. I like to make it the way I was raised who enjoy Christmas with family and enjoy each others company visiting or playing games together. It is already a custom in my family the gift giving on Christmas Eve. We don't have baby in our family , everyone has grown and the idea of gifts to give has changed. Nowadays people pretty much look at electronics for gift. I give gifts by theme or some practical ideas, like very useful to the person I give it to. I know some people in my family like the custom gifts so I thought of giving a custom coin for Christmas. Tinay specially like coins so I believe she will treasure this. Christmas is coming soon and a lot of people doing the Christmas shopping rush to give for Christmas as gifts. Last Black Friday sale I saw lots of people do there Christmas shopping and with all that traffic and sales everything went smoothly because everything was done electronically at the checkout counter. There were lots of sales representatives that assisted as you enter the store. The same in grocery stores, almost everywhere you can see Honeywell Barcode Scanner systems being used. If without these technologies, there will be a lot of people in line to pay at the counter. Some grocery stores and hardware stores use the barcode system for automatic check out where you just scan the barcode area as you check out and it will automatically recognize the item you bought and prized. I really like to use this every time specially when I only have few items to check, it makes shopping easier and faster without having to stand in line for long.

We all know that Black Friday Sale is the biggest slash down sale of the year. I get excited when I see savings and discounts. Tomorrow is checking where we going to go shopping. I never go out real early but I do go out that day to shop. Like last year my girlfriend gave me Luminox navy seal watches as part of my collection. She knows I like watches and that day she got it real low price. We like to check on shoes and clothing. It is a great way to spend time together too and do something we both like. The only thing is, making sure we stay on our budget, no sense buying things when you have no money for it. Most great prices are best when you show up real early, but I am not a morning person, I probably don't know my direction if I go shop that early. Usually we go around eight or nine in the morning after having a cup of coffee or breakfast. No sense going shopping on an empty stomach.

My mom just got back from the Philippines in time for the Thanksgiving day celebration. She went to Cebu City Philippines to do some business regarding real estate. Some documentation needs copies of certain papers that is still here in the States. I am glad I have document imaging software and made the transaction smooth and hassle free. Everything turn out fine and accepted without problem. It is an advantage to have and very handy when time like such. If I know my mom, she easily discourage on little things if it don't turn out fine on first try. She has been realy down lately with the loss of my Dad so this really helped and save some trouble. She knows little about technical stuff so she don't really know how simple task could sometimes be problematic if not done right or if do not have the right tools or software. It is very hard to explain technical things if she does not know much abaout it. Ohh well, all I know is simple software like this really saves time and headache.

Last December I went to visit my girlfriend and we decided to stay in Radisson Suites Hotel Toronto Airport. After several delays and cancelled flights, I was glad to stay in this hotel. The rooms were great, clean, spacious, free wifi, very friendly and helpful front desk. It is located very close to the airport and Tim Horton is just in front of it. I really liked my stay at this hotel and recommended this place. I would like to stay here again although I kinda like to try different hotels ...but this place is definitely on my favorite list for Toronto/Missisauga area.

Still have Friendster account? Ever wonder who is viewing your profile yet their profiles are set private? I have done this a lot of times before too, I check who viewed me without them knowing I peeked back at their profiles. Just visit Friendster Private Profile Viewer it is working for now. It has been down for few months but as of today Nov. 7 tested it and it is working fine. All you have to do is know the Friendster URL of the person you want to check and put it in the view profile box , click search then bingo! you will be able to see the photos of the person you wanted to check.

The other day I went with mom to go shopping at Walmart for groceries. I am not really fond of Walmart shopping specially recently they renovated and rearrange everything in the store and it is harder to find things around. Anyways, the other day I was surprised to see "Chippy" corn chips sold in our Local Walmart store. I thought I only see it in Oriental stores during my moms oriental grocery shopping days. But this time to see Chippy sold in Walmart is just awesome, it is one of my favorite Philippine chips. I wonder when they gonna start selling Clover chips ;P.

Carving Pumkin for Halloween [Digg]

Halloween is coming yey! We carved some pumpkin just for the fun of it. We saw this pattern and followed it. We made two carving design out of one pumpkin. Last night we put candle inside it and turn off the porch light to see how it look. It look really nice the way is it is. We will buy some snickers, milkyway,almond joy and butterfinger mixed bag of candy bars for trick or treaters....HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Last Oct 15th I celebrated my birthday though my birthday anniversary falls on different date but because I will be busy again next week, we decided to celebrate it ahead than scheduled. My mom and dad treat me to Pizza Hut along with my friends. Only 8 of us made it but it was still ok. We enjoy our pizza and ordered 4 large pizza wow! that was plenty. We had about every pizza that every one wanted. Meat lovers, Hawaiian, Super Supreme and Pepperoni my favorite hehehe. After that my dad got me a very delicious chocolate cake and we were so full so I hardly able to take more bite of that cake.

Parents usually get panic or get helpless when their child get symptoms like colds ,coughs, ear infection and sore throat. Often times they think and expect antibiotic would solve the problem but antibiotics are not always the answer to cure these symptoms. I post this specially to parents that live in the Philippines where antibiotics are dispensed over the counter not even needing prescription.
