I have recently set up a print studio on Society 6! These are fine art prints on bright white, matte, ultra smooth, 100% cotton rag, acid and lignin free archival paper using an advanced digital dry ink method to ensure vibrant image quality. Custom trimmed with 1″ border for framing. You can also get them in stretched canvases as well!

New Book Cover

I’m working on a new book cover for Kal Malik – “Radical Enlightenment”. The first cover I did for him was for his book “Active Enlightenment” and shows a phoenix rising from the ashes of smoldering cinnamon sticks. For this new cover, the phoenix rises into the air, breaking free and flying straight over the horizon. I needed to keep the colors in the same family, but they needed to be mixed up for the new cover. I did a rough sketch first, scanned that in, and then kept switching back and forth between Illustrator and Photoshop to paint in the colors and details. There are still a lot of details yet to be worked out!

I’ve been working on 4 illustrations for the four different seasons. I’m finally on the last one – summer! One thing I’ve learned for sure is that fabric can be very annoying to paint in Photoshop. Sometimes I wonder would I be faster if I worked in acrylics?? I love painting details, so probably not. Don’t pay any attention to the colors – I’m still working on that part! Anyhoo, I’ll post another update when I get further along. Tragically I’ve been working on this blog site all day and didn’t get to work on her at all

Hi! My name is Jill Sanders and I’m a freelance illustrator from South Carolina. No, I’m not the German fashion designer Jil Sander (I’ve actually gotten emails from people thinking I was her – true story)! I’m hoping to replace my current website with this blog soon, so bear with me. It’s a 2 week minimum nightmare to update my website with my new work or to put any news on there (for me it takes 2 weeks, that is). It’s going to take a while to learn WordPress, though, but I think it’s going to end up being a lot easier to update my gallery and share my works-in-progress. Please check back often, I’m going to be adding a lot more fun stuff – such as my graphite drawings and maybe even some random sketches. Thanks for listening!
