---

A seminary professor was vacationing with his wife in Gatlinburg, Tennessee when they stopped at a small country diner for breakfast. While waiting for their order to arrive, they noticed a distinguished looking, white-haired man moving from table to table, visiting with each diner. The professor leaned over and whispered to his wife, 'I hope this guy doesn't come over here.' But sure enough, the white haired man did come over to their table.

'Where are you folks from?' he asked in a friendly voice.' Oklahoma,' they answered.
'Great to have you here in Tennessee,' the stranger said ... 'What do you do for a living?' 'I teach at a seminary,' he replied. 'Oh, so you teach preachers how to preach, do you? Well, in that case I've got a really great story for you.' And with that, the gentleman pulled up a chair and sat down at the table with the couple from Oklahoma. The professor groaned and thought to himself, 'Great.. Just what I need.... another preacher story!'

The man started, 'See that mountain over there? (Pointing out the restaurant window). Not far from the base of that mountain, there was a boy born to an unwed mother. He had a hard time growing up in these parts, because every place you go down here, people always ask 'Who's your daddy?' So whether the little boy was at school, the grocery store or the drug store, people would ask him 'Who's your daddy?' Consequently the boy often avoided going places just to avoid hearing the question, 'Who's your daddy?'

Then a new preacher arrived in town and one Sunday as the young boy leaving the church the new preacher, not knowing anything about the young boy, reached over put his hand on his shoulder and asked him, 'Son, who's your daddy?' The whole church got deathly quiet and the preacher could feel every eye in the church watching as if now everyone would finally know the answer to the question, 'Who's your daddy?' Sensing the situation around him and how awkward the little boy looked the preacher said 'Well wait a minute! I know who you are! I can see the family resemblance now, You are a child of God.' With that he the preacher patted the boy on his head and said, 'Boy, you've got a great inheritance. Go out and claim it.'

'The little boy smiled as he walked out of Church that Sunday and he was a changed person. He was never the same again. Whenever anybody would ask him, 'Who's your Daddy?' he'd just tell them, 'I'm a Child of God.'' The distinguished gentleman then rose from the table and said, 'Isn't that a great story?' The professor nodded because it really was a great story! As the gentleman walked toward the door he turned and said, 'You know, if that new preacher hadn't told me that I was one of God's children, I probably never would have amounted to anything!' And then he walked out of the diner.

The seminary professor and his wife sat there stunned. When the waitress came to their table with their bill they asked her, 'Did you see that man who just left our” ‘Yes’ she replied. “Do you know who that he was?' The waitress grinned and said, 'Of course. Everybody down here knows him. That's Ben Hooper. He's the former governor of Tennessee!'

{ - - Ben Hooper (1870-1957) was governor of Tennessee from 1911-1915 - - }

Microsoft History Reimagined: The Declaration of Independence

This is great!

Windows 8 finally has a name and a face, and we finally have a (public) glimpse of where Microsoft is driving the modern OS experience. The preview does not dive deep or provide the full story for Windows 8 (expect more details as Microsoft marches towards the September Windows 8 "BUILD" conference), but it does highlight some interesting facets of Microsoft's plan.

Although I never did get to meet him, I feel honored to have exchanged emails with him. For those of you who don’t know I served in the 506th Infantry Regiment in Korea, and have the distinct honor and pleasure of being one of his “Currahee Brothers.” – I have also been a strong supporter and member of the 506th Infantry Regimental Association, and my company, Axcess Internet hosts their website.

Before the fame of the Band of Brothers book and HBO series, Major Winters and the exploits of the men of Easy Company were but a blip in history to most; unless of course you were a member of the 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne or the people of Eindoven (Netherlands) then, their actions were and will forever be, the stuff of legends.

Major Winters and his men took part in some of the bloodiest and costly battles of World War II, including fighting in Normandy on D-Day, Operation Market Garden and the Hell of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. His men liberated the death camp at Dachau and captured Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest at Berchtesgaden. I won’t go into all of the details; however, if you want to learn more, you should read U.S. Army Colonel (Ret.) Kingseed’s paper, titled, “Captains Courageous.”

For his actions during the war he received the Distinguished Service Cross, a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars and was nominated (along with other members of Easy Company) for the Medal of Honor.

After the war, he kept his promise to himself and married Ethel and bought a farm in Fredericksburg, PA. He raised two children and worked in the agricultural feed business. It wasn’t until the late historian and eventual author of The Band of Brothers, Stephen Ambrose approached him about doing a book that he even talked about the war.

Ambrose later said in an interview with the BBC in 2001 that he hopes young people say, “I want to be like Dick Winters.”

“Not necessarily as soldiers, but as that kind of leader, that kind of man, with basic honestly and virtue and an understanding of the difference between right and wrong.”

I, like so many of my colleagues consider Dick Winters a hero; however, if you asked him, he would tell you he wasn’t a hero, but instead would tell the story of his friend and fellow World War II buddy Mike Ranney, who when asked by his grandson if he was a hero in the war, said, “No, but I served in a company of heroes.”

He has been quoted many times throughout history, and you can learn more about his life by visiting his Wikipedia Page; however, one quote that has always rang true for me is, “your reward for a good job is that you get the next tough mission.”

So, Major Winters, here's to your "good job" in this life, and I hope you enjoy your next mission, cause you've earned it!

Rest In Peace!

Happy New Year!

After spending almost an entire day trying to find these drivers, I thought I should post them here to help others.

* NOTE: Download these drivers at your OWN RISK!

I have tested the file for viruses, and I was able to get these drivers to work with the following card:

PH1217-E / PH11107-E Philips Wireless Mini-PCI Card
FCC ID: ANO20030400LEG
CAN ID: 349E-PH12127E

The information, potentially worth millions to the broker, was sold by Walter Shimoon for a mere $22,000. Shimoon has since been fired by camera and charger component maker Flextronics International, and was arrested by US law enforcement this morning. Among other things, he was recorded leaking sales information, details about the iPhone's cameras and about a mysterious product known only as "K48."

Shimoon, who played a role in contract negotiations with Apple, is alleged to have passed information via phone calls with clients of Primary Global Research, an expert-networking company based in California. One of the people he was talking to, however, was a government witness who was recording the phone calls. According to the recordings, Shimoon revealed third quarter 2009 sales figures for iPhones and fourth quarter 2009 sales figures for iPods during a phone call in October 2009. During this call, Shimoon also let drop the news that the 2010 iPhone would have two cameras. "We're working with them on the camera," Shimoon said, according to the complaint against him. "You know, they're very secretive."

In the same phone call, Shimoon also revealed that Apple was working on a top secret product, which was known internally at the company as "K48." His information about the new product was sketchy, Shimoon explained, but he made some educated guesses that turned out to be pretty accurate: "It's totally ... It's a new category altogether... It doesn't have a camera, what I figured out. So I speculated that it's probably a reader... Something like that. Um, let me tell you, it's a very secretive program," he said. Shimoon also added that "at Apple you can get fired for saying K48... that's how crazy they are about it."

Read more at…Bugged Phone Tripped Up Apple Leaker
