2013 September: David was the lead organizer of the research symposium (Celebration Hall, September 17th). Lalitha, Bingxin and Shih-Chung gave the talks: "Nanoparticle filled solid polymer electrolytes for lithium ion batteries", "Coarse-Grained Simulation of Primary Cell Wall Polysaccharides" and "Nanostructure of primary plant cell wall", respactively. David also presented the poster "Correlation between degree of sulfonation and polymer-ion dynamics in PEO-based single-ion conductors".

David presented a poster on "The influence of ion content on mobility and ion aggregation in PEO-based single-ion conductors", and Malgorzata presented a poster on "Can coarse-grained force field parameters be transferable?" Ben and Janna were also in attendance.

Maria was selected as graduate student representative of the Intrinsically Disordered Protein Subgroup - Biophisical Society. Kan-Ju and Lalitha attended APS in Boston, Maryland. Kan-Ju presented "Correlation between superionic behavior and ion aggregation in PEO-based single-ion conductors" and Lalitha presented "Does filler surface chemistry impact filler dispersion, polymer dynamics and conductivity in nanofilled solid polymer electrolytes?"

2011 December: Amitava Moitra, a post-doc in our group, receives the 2011 TMS Light Metals Magnesium Best Paper – Fundamental Research Award. Congratulations! This award recognizes the individual excellence of a paper in the area of application of science in solving a practical problem, published in the preceding year’s volume of Magnesium Technology. His paper “Effect of Substituted Aluminum in Magnesium Tension Twin” is the award winning paper. Formal presentation of your award will be made at the Magnesium Plenary session on Monday, March 12 at 8:30 a.m., at the Dolphin Hotel in Orlando, Florida during the 141st TMS Annual Meeting, March 11-15, 2012.
