O candidato irá integrar o time responsável pelo site Apontador e API Apontador, com back-end em Java e front-end em PHP e Javascript. O site Apontador é um site de busca local com mais de 15 milhões de visitantes únicos por mês e 7 milhões de locais cadastrados. Nosso time utilizou Scrum por um bom tempo e no momento estamos experimentando alguns conceitos Lean/Kanban. Do lado técnico buscamos cada vez mais no aprimorar nas práticas de XP. We are looking for a developer to work in keeping our infrastructure services running smoothly, and with some experience in automated application testing/quality assurance.

Primarily, the ideal candidate will be experienced with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment processes, and should be able to design/write automated tests - we are using Selenium/Webdriver. The candidate should also be able to help us improve current practices. If you have already worked on creating a job on Hudson/Jenkins that deploys a new version of the code after a new commit with all-passing tests, we definitely want to hear from you.

Secondarily, we are looking for someone who is knowledgeable of all parts that compose a typical web application stack and be comfortable on the command line. In the (hopefully rare) occasion that one of our services goes down, the candidate should be able to independently diagnose the issue and bring the faulty service to normal operation. Just as an example, you should be able to set up a web server and configuring it to run in efficiently and ready to support thousands of simultaneous users.

Job Description and responsibilities:

We are a distributed team that is currently located in both South and North America, and we are looking for someone that can be closer to one of our customers located in India.

There will be some small level of support to this customer, such as adding/editing static pages and their website, respond to user inquiries, and ensuring that our service is running properly; we are looking for someone who can be closer to our customer in case of any high-priority requests.

The most fundamental part of this position is related to working with developers to keep improving our QA/testing practices and methods. Activities will include:

writing functional tests for new features: we use Selenium IDE to record browser interactions, and export it to our (python) test suite.
improving test coverage for the existing features: our users will certainly find creative ways to use and abuse the system, and we haven't thought of all of them.
checking that most web browsers are rendering pages correctly: we are working to make all pages "correct" on IE8+, FF3.6+, and all webkit-browsers, and we want to make it at least usable in IE7/Opera.
making the automated deployment process more robust: we can deploy automatically to one customer, and we use Jenkins as our CI system, which gives us automatic builds/validation; but there are more ways that we can improve this process as well.

A quick rundown of our current technology stack: we are developing Python/Django applications running on Linux and using PostgreSQL, nginx and uwsgi. There are also services that run on AWS (S3, SES, EC2). It's not expected for the candidate to be an expert in all of these areas, but it is very important that the candidate is able to the role of each of these services and keep them running reliably.

Being a distributed team, we keep all our communications through online tools and services. We use wikis and issue trackers to keep our communication, and the occasional conference call via Skype.
