"Mastering Executive Job Change" The workshop begins with the creating of a successful financial transition strategy.

There is a job change workshop here in Atlanta that is well worth the price of admission, FREE. For those of you who find yourselves between jobs and need a place to start, this is it. For those of you who have been looking for a new job for awhile and need an injection of information to get you back on track or just keep you going, this is it. I find it is one thing to read information and another to have the information presented to you in a workshop format where you can get feedback for your individualized questions. Even if you feel confident in your pursuit of your new job, it never hurts to get new angles and information. Besides, you will find it to be another good group to network with.

The workshop begins with the creating of a successful financial transition strategy. Newly out of work and your cash flow has stopped and more then likely you have lost your insurance benefits. What to do? Even if you have planned well for such occurrences, there is always room for new ideas. At the workshop you will learn how to find cash from alternate sources and how to cut expenses. Always a good idea, but often easier said than done. This workshop will also give you new ideas to digest and refresh old ideas you already knew about but may not be implementing properly. Insurance benefits are another big issue. You may know what to do, but a mistake here can really cost you so the more information you have the better your decisions will be.

Next, you will be presented with a job transition strategy. A plan of action and what to expect from yourself and others. Where to start and how to keep moving until you are re-employed. Everything I have read says job hunting has changed in the past two years so don’t be afraid to get some new information, particularly if you are an old dog. Old dogs can learn new tricks. Don’t take my word for it, here is a link to “Mastering Executive Job Change“, where a lot can be learned.

Wow, I just finished reading “30 Ideas, The Ideas of Successful Job Search” by Tim Tyrell-Smith.There is sincerity to the writing that I find compelling and trust worthy.

Wow, I just finished reading “30 Ideas, The Ideas of Successful Job Search” by Tim Tyrell-Smith. I’m not going to give you a cliff note summary of this (free) e-book because you need to read it yourself. It is longer than the usual blog you will read, 108 pages, but if you are in job transition and looking for good material to keep you going in the right direction it will give you help, inspiration, focus, strength, lots of new resources, and probably a well needed kick in the pants. There is sincerity to the writing that I find compelling and trust worthy.

I believe anyone who reads this, while in transition, can use it constantly as a reference to keep yourself on track. For those of you who don’t mind using the paper and ink, I would recommend printing off a copy, putting in your own personal notes and underlining the areas that keep you focused. I can see my copy of this book sitting on my desk, dog eared and hopefully signed by “Tim”. I know you’re thinking “why would it become worn, shouldn’t it help you arrive at that next position and get set aside”. No, the basic principles of this material should live with you so that maybe the next time you encounter a rough spot in life, it won’t be as rough. Read the book.

Simple rules and ideas often get overlooked because they are simple. We go looking for a new innovative idea that will blow the world away. Who wants to think simple thoughts. We are bigger than that. We as human beings have a tendency to believe complex and intricate is more important. We didn’t get to the moon with simple technology did we? Do you think John Kennedy had any idea of how to get us to the moon? No of course not, but he had a simple belief that we could do it. Thought is the birth place of action and creation.

I listened to career coach Hallie Crawford’s audio feeds, through her article titled “Creating Career Possibilities“, this morning and found myself swept up in uplifting simplicity and common sense information that I know to be true. It is so easy for us to forget these basic principles of success, particularly when you are unemployed and feeling down. For those of you that cannot turn yourselves around easily by reading good positive information or joining a networking group, I would recommend seeking a professional career coach. Lance Armstrong crosses the finish line as an individual, but he would never make it without his eight team members.

In it you will find 6 tips on how to network effectively.

CNBC.com has an excellent article “Network Your Way to Your Next Job!“ (by: Connie Thanasoulis-Cerrachio)

In it you will find 5 tips on how to network effectively. In a nutshell, the tips include:

Tip #1: If you are really nervous about approaching someone, don’t approach them just yet. Observe and watch others in the room. See how they do it and read their body language. Are they establishing good eye contact, but not staring people down? Are they shaking hands and smiling at the same time?

Tip #2: Ask open ended questions like how did they get into the business they are in? Keep it positive but allow them to do the talking! Be authentic. Another great networking question would be to ask what advice they could give to you at this point in your career. Again – the trick is to NOT ask for a job.

Tip #3: Have thick skin. If someone doesn’t get back to you, do not take it personally. Continue to network with them by sending them articles that may be of interest to them (if you let them talk enough, you’ll find out what they are interested in), send them a holiday card, send them an article about their company, their industry, about themselves if they are in the news.

Tip #4: Create a LinkedIn account, and start to include everyone you know. This should include present and past co-workers, people you went to school with, people you play sports with, people from your place of worship. In fact, as an exercise, you should create a list of at least 100 people you know, and attempt to connect with them via LinkedIn.

Tip #5: Ramp up activities during prime networking seasons/events like the holidays and summertime BBQs. Get out there and act like things are going well because positive attracts positive and negativity repels.

Tip #6: Keep a calendar and proactively network with people every single day because the more you network, the easier it will become. The world couldn’t turn and business couldn’t be done without networking, yet you’ll not find one networking class in a college or university.

We at JobNetworkingCenter.com recommend everything you have just read, but would like to take you to the next level. Join several job networking groups in your area. If you are in the Atlanta area, find networking groups at JobNetworkingCenter.com by “Event Locations” or “Event Calendar“ .

If you have more tips, we would like to hear from you.
