In this episode I discuss how to leverage Social Media in your search. As LinkedIn is the most popular professional networking tool, this episode is very LinkedIn-centric, but the principals are the same regardless of the tool you use (build a strong online presence, then reach out to others in a professional way to bring attention to yourself).I hope you find it useful:

Hello everyone and welcome to the jobs podcast. I hope to have this podcast available on iTunes, learnoutloud and on jobscast.tumblr.com.

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Barry Vickers. I am a recruiter 20 years’ experience as hiring manager, agency and in-house recruitment, and I’m currently working for Ericsson LM Ireland.

So why the podcast?

The purpose of this podcast is to Podcast to help you find the job you want. It’s that simple. I hope to offer tips, insight, news and maybe even feature some jobs. I also hope to have interviews with experts in the industry and get opinion from them.

I have about 20 possible episode ideas in my head, but I’d prefer to know what you would like to hear. Is it cv tips, interview pointers, recruitment trends, industry events? Let me know! Drop me a line at barry@barry.ie with subject line “jobspodcast”.

The cast will probably have an “Ireland-feel”, but I’d like to add an international dimension, so I would welcome insight in that regards – feel fee to comment on the site and blog. I have recruited people from all over the world and for Ireland, Europe and for Africa

So stay tuned”

Again, I welcome your ideas for content (especially what are the big questions you have) or get in touch if you’d like to be featured (weather you are an industry expert, would like to offer insight or even if you are simply looking for a job).

Lastly, please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn and check out my site at www.barry.ie

Hope you enjoy the podcast.
