I don't think I can express how much I LOVE this bowl! My parents' neighbor actually hand made this bowl just for me. It is absolutely gorgeous. I'm so excited to use it for the first time with my own sweet babe! I've had it for months and months now waiting just for her. I'm only sharing one for now because I know my mother is excited to see some of these portraits, but I'll definitely be sharing more from this set after I edit them all. Enjoy Grandma S!

Can you guess who's belly this is? Yep, it was mine! This was taken just a few hours before my baby girl was born. I must have known I was going to go into labor soon. I pulled my hubby into the studio right before we went to bed and insisted we needed some pics of my huge belly. Especially since I was 39 weeks along (39 weeks and 1 day to be exact). I couldn't believe I had made it that far. After looking at the metadata, this image was taken at exactly 10:45pm on Friday night. 3 hours later, I would be woken up by very strong contractions. And at 2:45am, I was checking into the hospital. I'm so happy I was able to capture a few of my belly right at the end, just a few hours before my sweet girl made her fast entrance to the world.

Introducing my newest sweet girl.....Teagan!

I finally captured some sweet shots of my newest baby girl on her own! And of course, some more with her big sister. My oldest is overjoyed about being a big sister now. She is usually not one to be in front of the camera, but she has been so excited to get some pictures done with her little "sissy", as she calls her. I can't wait to share more with you all. But for now, here's Teagan and Taylor....or T-N-T, as I like to call them. :)

My new sweet girl finally made her appearance on April 14th at 39 weeks and 3 days! She is perfect and we are all over the moon in love with her. I'm sure you will see lots and lots of pics of her over the next few weeks and months, but here are the very first portraits I took of both my babies!

Can you believe this beautiful mama is 38 weeks along?! GORGEOUS!

Now, I know I'm on maternity leave, but when a friend/fellow photographer calls you up and asks if you could please take a picture or two of her belly....how can you say no? :) You should of seen the two of us. Two preggo bellies bouncing around the studio, running out of breath, running to the potty, downing water like we hadn't drank anything in months. It was quite the spectacle. LOL! Plus, she'll be returning the favor here soon and taking a few of me. Now I'll get to feel what its like to be in front of the camera instead of behind. EEEK! We had a great time though. It's always fun to hang out with friends and talk shop and have fun for a bit. :)

Workshop sneak peek! - Greensboro newborn photographer

I just had an amazing two days! I attended a fabulous newborn workshop taught by the one and only Laura Brett of Laura Brett Photography. Her work is unbelievable and I'm honored to now say that I've trained under her. There were so many "A-HA" moments at this workshop for me. So many little pieces to the puzzle that will definitely help me take my newborn work to the next level. I can't wait to practice all I've learned and really focus on newborn photography when I return to work in the fall. Newborn photography is truly what I enjoy. .

Thank you to Laura and all my fellow workshop attendees for a wonderful few days. I'm so glad I made this investment in myself and my business. So be prepared for lots of newborn goodness in future from Jody Gall Photography. But for now, here is the first image I pulled out and edited from the workshop. Meet sweet Abigail. Isn't she just perfect?

Maternity Leave | Greensboro newborn photographer

I realized after receiving a few inquiries recently that I never made an official post on my blog about starting maternity leave. I put an announcement up on my website and blog at the top, but didn't really post here for you all. So here it is, my official "I've started maternity leave post". :)

I officially started maternity leave on February 1st and have decided that its best for my family to take the entire summer off after our new spring bundle arrives. This will be a great opportunity for our family to really bond and spend those first few months together before my oldest starts kindergarden in the fall. I will begin scheduling limited sessions again after school starts in Fall 2012, so definitely keep your eyes open. Please feel free to contact me anytime during my maternity leave. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about scheduling this year. And of course, any other questions or concerns you may have. Thank you so much for supporting Jody Gall Photography over the years. I can't wait to get back to work in the fall!

This pregnancy has been a wonderful journey so far already and I can't wait to share our new baby girl with all of you. We are super excited to meet her and see our family grow. I can't believe I'm going to be a mom to two beautiful girls. Our oldest daughter is just beside herself with joy. She can't wait to be a big sister also. It warms my heart to hear her talk to the baby through my belly and scold her when she kicks me too hard. LOL.

And of course, you can't have a blog post without any images, so I thought I'd share a portrait of me. Yep this is me, 7 months preggo! And let me tell you how hard it is to get a portrait of yourself. It took a lot of running back and forth to the camera and trying to direct myself. haha. I'm not used to being in front of the camera and I'm definitely more comfortable behind it, but I thought I'd be bold and share a belly pic! :)

I'll finally be all caught up sharing my fall/winter sessions with this post. This was my last newborn session before starting maternity leave. Just think, the next newborn you see on the blog will be my own. Yay!

You may remember this sweet girl's sneak peek HERE. She made her grand appearance right before Christmas. She was just the sweetest little thing. Mom and dad were pretty awesome too. I just love meeting my clients and spending time with them during our session. I feel like they come in as clients, but leave as friends. It such a wonderful feeling.

Now, I do believe the pregnancy hormones may have taken over during this session. I overshot like crazy and mom and dad ended up with plenty of proofs to choose from. LOL! We just had so much fun. So without further ado...here's little Miss E!

I'm still catching up on featuring some of my fall sessions, so here's another for you all. This family is an absolute favorite of mine! We met right at sunset this day during my fall mini sessions. I hadn't had a session right at sunset in a long time. I forgot how quickly the sun actually sets. LOL! So I was definitely grateful this was just a mini session. Mom requested family pics as her number one priority, so I made sure to deliver. Mister man did great and I even managed to squeeze in a few of him on his own at the end. Thank you again mama! You know I always love working with you. I can't wait for this fall to do it again!

I'm finally getting caught up from the holidays. Whew! Between Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and currently being 6 months preggo (wow...where has the time gone already)....this winter is flying by. Since Christmas is officially behind us, and everyone has received their Christmas cards and portraits gifts, I can finally share a few of my fall sessions that were never featured. Yay!

This family was great and I loved their clothing choices. Little mister man was super tired, but we still caught some great shots. He was such a trooper! It was so wonderful meeting you all and I hope to see you again this fall.

A late Merry Christmas!

Hello all! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Jody Gall Photography! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and holiday season. I was very late getting my Christmas cards out again this year, so I couldn't share our card until now. I know, I know! Tisk tisk! I decided to go with a FOREVER card again this year. They've been a big hit all year long and I just love them.

We had a wonderful Christmas here. My daughter has been very busy breaking in all her new presents...and leaving them all over the dining room and living room. haha. I received lots of maternity clothes and even a few things for our new bundle already. And Santa finally gave in and gifted our family a new Playstation3. My husband is of course ecstatic. And our daughter has been having a blast playing games with him. It really is great watching them play together. She squeals, he helps her past places she can't do yet, and they just snuggle on the couch together and have a ball.

I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for us. If you haven't heard yet, Jody Gall Photography will be closed for much of 2012. I'll be on maternity leave so we can prepare for and spend time with our new arrival. I can't wait to meet our newest addition and see what a great big sister our daughter will become. How's this for an early Christmas present?! This little 6 day old beauty made her grand entrance into the world just in time for Christmas! She is just perfect....so small and dainty and sweet. I could of snuzzled her all day long!

We had a blast today at our session. It started off a little rocky, but after plenty of food (in everyone's bellies...including mine!) and lots of grandma lovings, this little beauty was finally out for the count. We had tons of Christmas fun and even caught a few smiles! But I'll have to save those for mama to see first. ;)

It was so wonderful meeting you all today (you too grandma!). Enjoy your sneak peek and have a joyous Christmas with you new little bundle. I know it will be filled with lots of love and snuggle time!

Just a little sneak peek of the fun my daughter and I had together today! It's amazing what a little bribery will get you. LOL! We went to two different locations this evening. One location I promised Chick Fil A for dinner and the other location I promised an ice cream cone for dessert! :) She did great! And we actually had a ton of fun too. Yay! I {heart} my kid so much!

1st birthday - Greensboro NC baby photographer

I'm so excited to finally feature this little man's 1st birthday session on the blog. He was just too sweet and full of smiles. He's not quite walking yet, but that didn't stop him from giving mom and I a workout during our session. I have to say, he's pretty darn fast! LOL! So there was lots and lots of picking him back up and setting him back down, pick up, set down, chase down the hallway, pick up, set down. You get the point. He was too cute though and he had a blast making us sweat. :)

We even managed to pull off the coveted sibling shot! We pulled big brother in just in time to get one shot of them together before little man was crawling off again. I found out mom didn't have any pictures of the two of them together, so I was totally thrilled to be able to capture that for her.

It was great working with you again mama! Your boys are just so awesome. Enjoy your portraits!

As you all know, I only do mini sessions once in a blue moon. Mini Sessions are short 20 minute sessions that result in about 10-12 final proofs. They are perfect for updating your yearly family portrait or for getting that great shot of the kids together for grandma for Christmas.

I love when I finally get to feature a session. You may remember this sweet girl's smile from her sneak peek HERE. At 7 days old, she was a dream to work with, as were her parents. I love my clients. I love meeting them, getting to know them, and just hanging out and talking during our sessions.

I'm so excited to finally feature this session! Check out all this hair! Miss Kira was so beautiful and she slept like a champ. We went with lots of neutral creams and browns during this session, it really showed off her beautiful skin. Then we ended the session with a really bold color! Mom loved the orange and I was really excited to play with such a bright, bold color. Thank you mama for a wonderful time. Your sweet girl is absolutely perfect!
