Can you believe it’s May already? We hope you’ve had time to get away from your computers and enjoy the warmer weather!

Do you use Pandora? It’s free internet radio station that plays only music YOU like to hear! While this isn’t a new internet trend, it is one that many people don’t know about and are missing out on!

The Normal Kings team loves Pandora, and we use it instead of regular radio. The regular radio stations seem to play the same songs over and over, and usually you’re stuck listening to songs you never even really liked the first time you heard them.

Here’s how it works: Go to www.Pandora.com. Create an account (it’s free!). Enter some musical artists you really enjoy. You can create more than one station by putting different genres of artists in each one, but if you like variety, like me, you only need one diverse station. After you enter the artists you like, you can start listening to the radio. You will hear songs by those artists, but also songs that have similar attributes to those artists – what a fun way to find new music! As you’re listening, you can click “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” for each song you hear. This will help your radio station to continue to evolve over time, becoming more and more customized to your musical tastes. Now that I’ve been listening to Pandora for a few years, I hardly ever hear a song I don’t like, because it has weeded out the types of music I don’t enjoy.

Normal Kings recently launched a brand new website for B.C. Research Company, located in Elmwood Park, New Jersey. Founded in 2001, B.C. Research is a privately owned manufacturer of specialty active extracts serving the personal care and cosmetic industry. The company uses innovative BioTransformed technology: A process where low concentrations of botanical extracts are treated with specially selected vegetable sourced enzymes to deliver enhanced performance and activity to the skin. The enzymes breakdown the extracts (BioTransform), allowing for both increased compatibility with the skin and to mimic natural skin conditions—BioTransformed Technology does not interfere with normal skin function.

Did you know?

Have you ever met a person who did not LOVE Girl Scout cookies? We haven’t! Personally, I would never say no to a little girl offering Samoas or Thin Mints. But sadly, I’ve never had a Girl Scout knock on my door. Several years of cookie withdrawal have led me to wonder… You can buy almost everything else online these days, and who doesn’t love shopping from home?

I’m not the only one to think of this. 8-year-old Wild Freeborn is a Girl Scout with a web designer dad. Earlier this year she set out to sell 12,000 cookies online, using a YouTube video commercial and an online ordering system that would allow people in her area to order the cookies, which she would personally deliver. Within two weeks, 700 orders came in through the website. The sad news: Girl Scouts are not allowed to sell cookies online, for reasons including an unfair advantage and the lack of face-to-face communication. As for me? I guess I’ll have to settle for Oreos.

The Connecticut Cabaret Theatre, located in Berlin, Connecticut, is a long time client of ours. We originally set them up with a website several years ago and we have been working with them ever since. They decided that 2009 was the time for a fresh new design, with a more modern look and updated features. We worked with them to come up with something that better fit their image: a contemporary yet professional website with a wealth of information for their visitors! The new site includes a brand new blog that is used to keep theater patrons informed. Their website package included an administrative panel that allows the owners to easily keep the site’s content up to date.
