I am happy to announce today the release of my latest stack called Gyro. The Gyro Stack is an image slider stack that can create elegant banners for your Rapidweaver site. With all of the debates about the future of flash on the web, the smart thing to do is use simple widgets that utilize HTML/CSS/Javascript so that your site can be viewed across all platforms, even mobile. All of this for only $9.95!

Simple

You will enjoy the simplicity of implementing the Gyro Stack. Similarly to the Stacks Plugin, the interface is intuitive and easy to build. There are no more complicated settings for adding assets to your page. Gyro simply uses the out of the box Image Stack. Its could not be any easier to setup!

Elegant

There are 6 different ribbon themes to choose from out of the box. You can easily move these ribbons to the exact position you desire. We plan on adding a lot more themes very soon so that Gyro will be able to blend in with your site décor.

Dynamic

Under the hood, Gyro is a very powerful machine. Gyro will hold as many images as you want and will dynamically build an elegant navigation ribbon. Gyro utilizes the jQuery javascript framework and works very well in all of our favorite browsers: Safari, Firefox, Camino, Opera, Internet Explorer (not a favorite but a necessary evil). It even works great in a mobile browser like on your iPhone!

Pictures are worth a thousand words so for a live demo and support for Gyro please refer to the following sites: Gyro Product Page and the Gyro Demo Site.

Special Promotion! Have some Lime with the Gyro…

ElixirGraphics has released a beautiful new theme by called Lime. Lime is a professional, bold design that is very good for any sort of site you can dream up. It is great for creating a business site, a blog, a portfolio a personal or school site and much more. Please check out the great video overview below of both Lime and Gyro. The Offsite stack is getting its first update in some time. This is one of our more popular stacks and am glad to say that we have made some great improvements to it!

What’s in the Update?

The Offsite Stack has been upgraded to use JQuery v1.4.1. This new version is much smoother in rendering the resize effects.

The height settings were changed from being a slider to simply an input field. This allows you to specify the exact height without the fudge factor that the slider settings have.

Added a new width setting to allow you to specify the exact width you want. You can use percentages or a defined pixel width.

Fixed issues with the Gecko browsers (such as Firefox) where the height of the offsite source was getting improperly set.

Updated the dmg to include an installer application. Installing these stacks could not be easier now.

How to Upgrade the Offsite Stacks

The following is a quick tutorial on how you can upgrade the stacks on your stacks page.

Drag new stack onto page.

Copy the settings from old stack into the new version.

Delete old stack from the page

This update is free for all customers who have already purchased the Offsite Stack. You will be receiving an email with details on how to obtain your updated stacks.

How to Upgrade the CMS/CSS Stacks

Because of the changes that were made under the hood in these stacks, there is some work that will need to be done if you want to upgrade your existing sites that use these stacks. However, your sites will still function perfectly if you do not upgrade the stacks on your pages. The only time that you will have to follow this upgrade path is if….

ScreenCastsOnline has done an amazing job at showing off how to get started using Stacks with RapidWeaver. http://www.screencastsonline.com/index_files/SCO0232-rw4stacks.php

If you’re not familiar with ScreenCastsOnline, Don McAllister was one of the very first and probably the very best Screencaster anywhere. As you might expect, the screencasts are all on great topics, have super video and audio quality. But really, the most notable feature of the screencasts are Don himself: he’s super easy to understand and seems to know exactly when to slow down and when to speed up.

If you’re looking to get up and running on RapidWeaver, Stacks, or even some of the 3rd party stacks, this is a great time to join ScreenCastsOnline. You not only get the latest screencast, but also access to quite a few of the previous screencasts on RapidWeaver.

Definitely check it out. Sign up. You’ll be glad you did.

The Rows Stack has received its first update since its release. I have added all of the features that users have been asking for the most. You now have full control over the width of not only the entire table but each individual column as well. Since the setting HUD is already pretty crowded, all of these tweaks can be done via CSS. This means, with a little knowledge of CSS, you can customize the Rows stack to exactly your liking.

The following are the details about the update…
The below CSS code can be added to the CSS section (within the Header tab) of your page inspector.

Table Width

There are times that you may want the Rows Stack to take up the entire width of a page, or maybe you want the table to be a specific width. This is extremely easy to do. Here are a couple examples:

Entire Width of Page

.rows_table { width: 100% }

Specific Width

.rows_table { width: 400px }

Column Width

If you are building a large table using multiple Rows Stacks, you will be able to adjust the width of the same column for each Rows stack with one easy setting. As you can see each column has its own CSS class: col1 (for column 1), col2 (for column 2), etc.

Width Relative to Page Width

.col1 { width: 25% }

.col2 { width: 50% }

.col3 { width: 10% }

.col4 { width: 15% }

Specific Width

.col1 { width: 50px }

.col2 { width: 200px }

.col3 { width: 100px }

.col4 { width: 300px }

Customizing Specific Rows

You also have the ability to customize each row individually with CSS. This functionality leverages the new ID field in the Rows Stack settings HUD. If the ID were set to “1″ then I could manipulate that row with the CSS ID “#row1″. The below example changes the background color of the Header row (row1).

Changing Background Color

.rows_table { background-color: #333333 }

Make sure to watch the overview video on the Rows Product Page to see exactly how useful this stack will be.

While this stack is only going to be $4.95, I thought that I would go ahead and do a promo anyways. You can still get $2 off until the end of the month using the promo code Rows2010.
