Recently, I noticed that some email opt-in forms were not appearing on certain landing pages (see image below). After a bit of asking around it was brought to my attention that it was because those particular email opt-in forms were being generated by javascript.

Also, it seems that it only happens if you’re viewing the squeeze page with Firefox (note: this only occurs on certain computers – some computers with Firefox are able to view the javascript email opt-in form). When I opened the same squeeze page on Internet Explorer I could see the opt-in form.

A simple way of getting around this issue is to change the opt-in form code from javascript to html.

This is easily done if your autoresponder is Aweber. Within your Aweber account do the following:

1. Click on the ‘Web Forms’ tab and select your web form

2. Select ‘Publish’

3. Select the first option, ‘I will install my form’

4. Select ‘Raw HTML version’

5. Copy and paste this code over the javascript code on your squeeze page

You’ll now find that your email opt-in form appears within the Firefox browser.

If you spend a lot of time and/or money driving traffic to your squeeze page, I recommend you change your email opt-in form code from javascript to html asap!

I was quite annoyed today to find that Aweber had another outage that caused the links in my emails to not work at all. It is the second outage in the last 2 days.

If your Aweber links are not working, there is something you can do as a workaround.

The problem I had was that when I clicked on the link I was taken to Aweber’s long tracking url. It looks something like this: http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=5VaX7&m=1cgZ9Cs57iSPin&b=EGwAu7a2sqZyP.xg5MV4Bw

Normally, these tracking urls redirect to your destination url.

What you can do to make the links in your Aweber emails work again is to resend out your email with the tracking feature disabled. See illustration below:

Uncheck the “Track Clicks?” checkbox and resend your email. Your links will now work okay.

Note: By turning off this feature you are unable to get statistics on how many links are clicked on. However, once Aweber resolves the click tracking issue, you can re-enable this feature.

Let me share with you an experience I had back in May 2007…

I had just discovered affiliate marketing by accident while trying to promote a MLM business online. I was sick of my job and so I tried it out and was stunned when I made my first profits (it was about $1!).

I set myself a goal: I was going to build up my affiliate marketing business to the point where I could quit my job by my birthday in October! I wrote down my goal and planned out what I was going to do each day to achieve my goal.

Every day I would read aloud my goal and made sure I worked my plan. Come January I had quit my job! What a beautiful day that was.

Okay, I didn’t reach my goal by October but who cares?

There’s a pattern here that you can follow in any area of your life:

1. Identify a goal you want to achieve and write it down. Be specific with what you want and how soon you want it. Don’t just say, I want to make a lot of money. Instead, say “I want to be earning $5,000 a month in 6 month’s time”.

2. Decide how you will achieve your goal. Are you going to do it with affiliate marketing, email marketing, selling PLR products, etc.

3. Determine what you need to have achieved on a yearly (if your goal is a long one), monthly, weekly and daily basis to achieve your goal. Write down specific actions you need to take daily to be able to make it happen.

4. Each day, read aloud your goal and work your action plan. Make amends as necessary.

If you follow the simple formula outlined above, there isn’t anything you cannot achieve. Making goals is making dreams come true.

Starting and growing an internet business can be tough. Sure, it might not require as much capital as a traditional ‘brick-and-mortar’ business but there are challenges that you’ll only face online.

You have to learn website design, web hosting, ftp, sales copy, seo and other traffic generation strategies, blogging, backlinking, product creation, autoresponders… and so forth.

Lately I have been organizing a lot of ad swaps to build up my list.

While I was filling up most available dates, I was finding it very hard to find adswap partners.

I tried find as many adswap sites as I could and put up posts requesting adswap partners but I wasn’t happy with the results. I just wasn’t getting enough responses.

Because of that, I did adswaps with some that I might not have normally done adswaps with.

There’s heaps of available adswap partners out there but why weren’t they contacting me?

Then I thought about how I could improve this. Maybe if others could see video proof of my list and its responsiveness they would be more willing to adswap with me. I know I would if it were the other way around.

I saw a question on a forum by a fellow internet marketing colleague that I think most of us will ask at least once;

“I am posting articles and blogs based on my keyword research. When I enter my keywords [in Google], I can’t find anything I have written!”

Here’s my response:

You are starting off on the right foot. Keyword research is essential, otherwise your time is wasted.

If you want to rank high in Google, you need to do the following:

1. Find a keyword with good search volume and low seo competition.
2. Write an article based on your keyword.
3. Post your article on your blog, Squidoo lens or EzineArticles (EzineArticles is the easiest to rank high with)
4. Get quality backlinks to your article **** this is the most important step of all for ranking high on Google and is most likely why you’re not ranking high at the moment

What do I mean by quality backlinks?

The backlinks should be:

- anchor text of your keyword (do slight variations so that the backlinks are not all identical – this will flag suspicion)
- dofollow links (by default, Wordpress comments links are nofollow and Google doesn’t credit these. For more info check this video out: http://johnlagoudakis.com/website-backlinks-are-yours-worthless
- on sites with a good Google Page Rank. The higher the better
- on .edu or .gov domains. Getting a backlink from these sites scores you big points with Google

When creating your backlinks, don’t overdo it. It has to look natural. About 3 new backlinks a day is safe.

Want to sell your own products online? It’s so easy with a PayPal shopping cart. All you need is an email address and you can sell whatever you like for a small fee.

Recapping, all you need to know to sell a product online with PayPal is:

• Your product name
• How much you want to sell your product for and in what currency
• The location of the download page
• How to add the necessary code to your website

The video assumes you want to sell a single, digital product that is instantly downloadable. PayPal has many other options which allow it to be used as a payment processor for:

• Physical products
• Multiple purchases
• Recurring billing

While there are many other ecommerce solutions, I would recommend a PayPal shopping cart, especially if you are just starting out.
