Cash for Clunkers has put John's Auto Parts on the news again. This time because of the push for an extended deadline to finish up the near 5000 clunkers we have received. The local news ran the story on KARE 11 and nationally by the Associate Press. We thank everyone for their support and patience while we process cars at nearly 3 times our normal rate.

Closing at 7 pm starting October 1

It's hard to believe its already Fall! Time for cool weather, holidays, and John's winter hours. Starting October 1st, we will be closing at 7 pm during the week instead of the 8 pm close during the summer. This means the yard will close at dusk. Weekend hours will not be changing.

Cash for Clunkers overload

The success of the Cash for Clunkers program means that we have thousands of beautiful fresh vehicles available for customers to pick over. John’s U-Pull-It Yard is now brimming with complete vehicles for customers to come in and take the parts they need off. These vehicles will not be staying in our yard long due to the volume of vehicles we are receiving. Come see what we have today, and check back tomorrow, because our inventory will change daily until Cash for Clunkers is over. Come take advantage of it.

Cash for Clunkers Program

The Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) gives consumers up to a $4500 cash rebate when trading in a qualifying used car for a new one. The CARS site as well as Cash for Clunkers Facts are good sources for more information.

KARE 11 recently did a story about the program and included one of our youtube videos in their broadcast.

John's Auto Parts will be working with dealers to recycle the vehicles traded in through this program. Consumers SHOULD NOT bring any cars to us directly that they hope to use in the CARS program as we are not able to provide the trade in rebate, only new car dealers are involved in this program.

This program appears to be creating a large demand for trading in old cars at the dealers and it looks like we might not be able to buy as many cars directly from our customers or through donations for a couple of weeks while we sort through the massive amount of phone calls we have been receiving. If you would like to donate or sell us your car, not through the CARS program, or your car/truck doesn't qualify, you can always request a quote for your vehicle after the CARS program has expired or visit our vehicle donation page for more information.

Radiators

John's Auto Parts stocks several hundred car and truck radiators on-site. Most new radiators are OEM quality replacements, and our used ones have all been checked to ensure they won't leak. For just a bit more than the price of a radiator repair job at most shops, we can often provide you with a brand new auto radiator.

From all of us here at John's we hope you have a fun this weekend. We will be closed tomorrow, Saturday the 4th, so we can also enjoy the day with our families. It looks like the MN highway patrol is going to be out in full force this weekend for DWI enforcement, so please be safe. We will be open again Sunday for anyone that set off fireworks too close to their car...

John's Auto Parts can help you out. We work with charities to accept donations, we buy scrap vehicles by weight, and we also buy cars based on condition.

If you are looking to donate your car to a good cause, we work with three different charities that accept automobile donations. Free2B has been our longest running charity; they assist people in Anoka County to acheive economic security and self-sufficiency by supporting them in their transportation needs. Cars for Courage is another local charity that supports the Courage Center, which helps more than 11,000 children and adults with disabilities each year. Lastly we work with 800 Charity Cars which is one of the leading national charities. All three serve a good cause and we recommend them equally.

If you would prefer to sell us your car, we have two different ways of doing it. The first is to fill out the form on our Buy My Car page and we will give you a quote for the car. The other method is to bring it here and send it across the scale to sell it based on the current scrap price. Usually the quote would be the better option for newer cars or cars in good condition, while most older, rusted cars will just go by scrap weight.

Email list: You can sign up for our email list. Right now this is mostly monthly coupon mailings but any important news would also be included. We don't sell our list, so no worries there. The sign up box is in the side column.
