Over the last two years, I’ve created around sixty scenic drive videos, and throughout that time I’ve fine-tuned a camera rig that delivers consistent, high-quality results. After a lot of trial, error, and experimentation, the Sony ZV-E10 paired with the Sony E 15mm F1.4 G lens has become the heart of my setup. Since I’m often asked what gear I use and why, I wanted to share my real-world thoughts, along with the accessories that help me capture smooth, wide, and detailed footage during long drives.

My Current Filming Setup (Full Breakdown)

I have three identical camera rigs that include:

Sony Alpha ZV-E10 (Amazon Affiliate Link)

Sony E 15mm F1.4 G APS-C Large-Aperture Wide-Angle G Lens (Amazon Affiliate Link)

Delkin Devices Fat Gecko Triple Suction Camera Mount (Amazon Affiliate Link)

SMALLRIG ZV-E10 Cage with Silicone Handle and Built-in Threaded Holes (Amazon Affiliate Link)

SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card (Amazon Affiliate Link)

F1TP USB-C PD to NP-FW50 ZV-E10 Dummy Battery Continuous Power Adapter (Amazon Affiliate Link)

Every part of this setup has earned its place, either by improving image quality, making long recording sessions possible, or making the rig safer and more stable on the road.

What I Like About the Sony ZV-E10

After using the ZV-E10 extensively, I’ve been extremely impressed with what it can do—even though it’s considered an entry-level camera in Sony’s lineup. For scenic driving videos, it strikes the perfect balance between image quality, flexibility, and ease of use.

The autofocus is incredibly reliable, even when the scenery changes rapidly as I drive through bright sun, heavy shade, or around winding roads.

The flip-out screen is simple but essential, letting me double-check framing without climbing over the dashboard.

The camera handles long recordings surprisingly well, and overheating has never been an issue in my setup.

The image quality holds up beautifully, especially when paired with a sharp lens and the right color profile.

This camera has gotten me far, but I recently decided that an upgrade to the ZV-E10 II is on the horizon. The new version adds 4K60fps and 10-bit S-Log3, which are both major upgrades for the kind of work I do.

Why I’m Upgrading to the ZV-E10 II

Right now, I upscale my 4K30 footage to 4K60. The results look good, but the extra processing time and power required to do this for every project really add up. Recording native 4K60fps will be a huge timesaver and will produce motion that feels naturally smoother—something viewers definitely notice in scenic videos.

The upgrade from Cine4 to 10-bit S-Log3 is equally exciting. S-Log3 offers noticeably better dynamic range, more color information, and far more flexibility in grading. This should dramatically improve the color quality of my videos, especially in high-contrast situations like mountains, sunsets, or bright clouds over dark forests.

The Sony 15mm F1.4 G: A Perfect Wide-Angle for Scenic Video

Choosing the right focal length took some research, but the 15mm F1.4 turned out to be exactly what I needed. Because the ZV-E10 is an APS-C camera with a 1.5x crop factor, the 15mm effectively becomes a 22mm equivalent. That puts it in a sweet spot: wide enough to capture landscapes, sky, and roadside details without introducing distortion.

Even when driving close to tall buildings, cliffs, or dense tree lines, the lens keeps everything straight and natural. It’s also extremely sharp across the frame and holds up well shooting through a windshield. The wide aperture helps in low light, too—sunrise and sunset drives look beautiful with it.

Mounting and Stability

My rig relies heavily on the Delkin Fat Gecko Triple Suction Mount. This mount has never failed me—not once. It keeps the ZV-E10 stable under most conditions.

However, for the smoothest final video, I still run my footage through Sony Catalyst Browse. No suction mount can eliminate all vibration from the road, but Catalyst does a great job cleaning up the rest and producing a polished, fluid shot.

Storage & Power: The Unsung Heroes

Storing hours of footage requires a big card, and the SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO gives me about 22 hours of recording time at max settings. That’s essential for long trips where I don’t want to stop and dump footage.

Power is equally important. There’s no way to record for long periods without a dummy battery, and the F1TP adapter keeps each ZV-E10 running continuously.

For the entire setup, I rely on an EcoFlow Delta 2, which can power all three cameras for nearly 24 hours from battery alone. It has been rock-solid and makes multi-camera scenic setups easy.

Final Thoughts

After two years and sixty scenic drive videos, I can confidently say the Sony ZV-E10 and the Sony 15mm F1.4 G lens are an outstanding combination for capturing wide, immersive, and cinematic driving footage. The image quality, reliability, and flexibility have made them the backbone of my workflow.

With that said, I’m genuinely excited to move to the ZV-E10 II and take advantage of 4K60 and 10-bit recording. But even when I upgrade, the original ZV-E10 will remain one of the best-value cameras I’ve used—and the 15mm F1.4 G will stay mounted to it.

If you’re looking to film scenic drives, travel content, road trips, or wide-angle landscapes, this setup is absolutely worth considering.

“This is a recent scenic drive I filmed with the exact camera rig I talked about above. The ZV-E10 paired with the 15mm F1.4 G lens gives me the field of view and clarity I need for these kinds of long drives.”

KOT Zero was so painful I had to stop. I went back to the drawing board and did the following everyday for two months.

sitting seiza style for 30 minutes everyday (scattered throughout the day)

sitting in a deep squat position for 30 minutes everyday (scattered throughout the day)

standing in a split position for 20 minutes everyday day (scattered throughout the day)

I peppered in other simple stretches whenever pain would occur, but not often enough to list as a contributor to my recovery.

I went from knee swelling daily to increasing my vertical by 4” inches and doing daily 2 hour full-court runs.

I’m now back to zero with no issues.

Advice for dealing with knee pain

I figured that most of my lower body muscles were stiff and tight. So stretching gave them space to move. Most of the pre-zero advice didn’t help (walking backwards, regression, etc.)

Stretching daily was literally all I did. Even the stretching was painful at first. I didn’t realize how tight everything was. I now do dead hangs for my upper body and back and is making progress there too.

Strengthening creates tightness which must be countered with adequate stretching. We often gloss over stretching and go into strengthening. I try to do a couple hours of it everyday.

I stretch when I wake up and before bed. The pain went away after a week or so, and it took about a week to sit seiza style a month to properly deep squat. I still deal with minor pain on the deep squat but I can hold my position for 30 minutes uninterrupted now.

Can you elaborate more on “standing in a split position”?

I saw a video of a guy who wanted to learn to do a split (https://youtu.be/E9mM2StxkCo) so he practiced getting lower and lower until he could drop into one. I basically tried to imitate him.

I’m lower than before, but no where near a split, but it helped my hips and quads tremendously.

References for those who want to go deeper.

Here is my reference for deep squats.

Definition of Meek

The true significance of the word “meek” in the Bible is a mental attitude for which there is no other single word available, and it is this mental attitude which is the secret of “prosperity” or succss in prayer. It is a combination of open-mindness, faith in God, and the realization that the Will of God for us is always something joyous and interesting and vital, and much better than anything we could think of for ourselves. This state of mind also includes a perfect willingness to allow this Will of God to come about in whatever way Divine Wisdom considers to be best, rather than in some particular way that we have chosen for ourselves.

Definition of Faith

The most difficult thing for a person to do is to be certain of an outcome, despite it looking like it will not happen.

The Definition of Prayer

Now, if someone can raise his consciousness (awareness) above the limitations of the physical plane in connection with the matter (situation)—and this is only a scientific description of what is commonly called prayer—the conditions on that plane will change,

From the point of the soul, success in raising your awareness above the limitations of the physical plane (prayer) is the only kind of prosperity worth having; and if our prayers are successful, we shall naturally have all of the material things that we need.

The Correct Way to Think About Income

People think of their supply as coming from certain investments, or from a business, or from an employer, perhaps; whereas these are merely the channels through which it comes, God being the Source. The number of possible channels is infinite, the Source is One. The particular channel through which you are getting your supply is quite likely to change, because change is the Cosmic Law for manifestation. Stagnation is really death; but as long as you realize that the Source of your supply is the one unchangeable Spirit, all is well. The fading out of one channel will be but the signal for the opening of another. If, on the other hand, like most people, you regard the particular channel as being the source, then when that channel fails, as it is very likely to do, you are left stranded, because you believe that the source has dried up – and for practical purposes, on the physical plane, things are as we believe them to be.

According to the King James Version of John 4:24, “God is a spirit.” The English Standard Version of John 4:24 state, “God is spirit.” So defining God is pretty straightforward if you use the Bible as a guide. However, the word spirit is not defined in the bible at all.

Matter of fact the best definition I could find was from entering “define spirit” in the Google search engine. Google simply defines spirit as, “the nonphysical part of a person that is the seat of emotions and character; the soul.”

Personally, I agree with everything up to the semicolon, because the Bible would not say in Hebrews 4:12 that, “…the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit…” if the spirit and soul was the same thing.

So on a simplistic level, if God is spirit, then God is the nonphysical part of a person that is the seat of emotions and character. Which validates Ephesians 4:6 which states, “… one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all,” no rituals necessary. Am I on to something?

I had achieved a milestone in my computer repair business, by servicing Dell computers. It was an excellent way to transition to self-employment because they gave me daily leads for their next business day services.

Long story short, the leads dried up in two weeks. They found an entry in my blog concerning the company that I refered to while making the decision to accept the contract. It was about how poor the company’s customer service was, and about how they took full-time union jobs from 400 people and contracted them out for little to nothing.

I did and learned more in these two weeks that ever before. I became Dell Certified. Learned customer service strategies, gained contacts in the ares, and learned how to structure my business further. It would have been nice to keep this opportunity, but I am not disappointed that it’s gone.

The program was like a mustard seed. It produced a lot of results quickly, and I believe it gave me some experience that places me well ahead of my competition.
