Last week, we have granted FREE access to download JA Wall for all the Developer members.

UPDATE : Downloads will be available only after 17th May, Pre-orders as this one are discounted. Post 17th May JA Wall will be sold on full price $ 49. Order now and save.Developer members will have free downloads privileges.

A few reasons behind this:

JA Wall requires some advanced configuration and setup. We need to provide detailed and thorough userguide before the official sales.

2 core themes should be fine tuned and all core HTML/CSS markups must be solid and stable before we add the 6 styles.

We will try not to change HTML/CSS markup after the stable release, we want to keep them FOREVER so that other developers/3rd party extension company can develop additional style / feature for this template. By maintaining a solid code base for layout/design, we can avoid incompatibility problem with any future update/release.

Developer Members can contribute valuable feedback and help us ironing this template to become a popular grid-style basetheme for Joomla.

- Hung Dinh @ JA Wall Forum Announcement

There are myriad numbers of non-Developer members with constant requests to attempt downloading JA Wall [Live Demo - Info] on our Facebook and Forum Announcement which has impressed us on the exceedingly high demand for this bundle.

JA Wall - The look and feel from Mobile screens

The Hit Of 2012: JA Wall - Joomla 2.5 Responsive Template

Imagine an endless stream of a grid-style content following the undesign approach for your Joomla website is coming just for you. Primed to customize portfolio websites where users can present their visual photographs, design and artwork. The JA Wall template is powered by a dynamic grid-style layout and the combination of jQuery Masonry plug-in and responsive design makes the content flexible to be displayed. Hence, JA Wall is just a perfect template to serve all your needs from a typical website/Joomla! content like articles, articles with images, videos, image galleries and attachments. All arranged in a grid-style layout. Oh... looks familiar right? In case you don't know pinterest yet, you will see it in the next section.

Roadmap for updating our Joomla! 1.7 products to Joomla! 2.5

Preliminary testing reports have revealed some minor issues with our templates and extensions when used with Joomla! 2.5. The power of JAT3 will make upgrade tasks easier and faster. However, we still do not release anything without routine testing / checks. No hasty releases will be done just to be first to the post. Customer satisfaction is our ultimate goal.

Right-to-left Joomla templates: RTLize your layout with T3 Framework

Since more than one year, I discussed with Joomlart's CEO (Hung) about the necessity to do a native RTL template. Actually, I was unhappy to see all these automaticlly mirrored templates with a global code: "direction: rtl" that send the vertical scroll to the left side of the screen and cause more issues than solutions. Yes, I read from right to left but I use my right hand to scroll pages and I have the same visual logic as readers of Left-to-Right scripts.

A language is described as right-to-left (or RTL) if writing starts from the right of the page, and continues to the left. Right to left scripts are:

Arabic alphabet - used for Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Kurdish, Bashto, Old Malay and many other languages.

How to move a Joomla site with AKEEBA BACKUP

One of the most common questions we hear all the time, is how to move a site from a development environment to a live site, or how to move a site from one directory to another, or even from one server to another. For many this seems to be a huge challenge, fortunately, this can be one of the easiest things you do with Joomla!.

LIFE CAN BE EASIER WITH AKEEBA

We'll look at one of the easiest, and safest, methods to move your site, a method that requires no knowledge of code or programming. If you can install a regular Joomla! site from scratch, than you can move your site just as easily! The key ingredient to moving our site is a secret weapon (ok, it's not so secret, but it is a weapon!) called Akeeba Backup. This is probably one of the most popular extensions in Joomla!, and for good reason!

Akeeba performs a wide range of functions, helping you update your Joomla! site to the latest version, take regular security backups, move sites, and secure your Joomla! site. We're only going to look at moving a site though. So head on over to AkeebaBackup.com, and download the Akeeba Backup extension! It's free, although you'll see a pro version that is packed with extra features, and goodies for your site.

How To Clone the Demo using QUICKSTART Installation - A STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

The premise and principles of Quickstart installations are applicable to our Joomla, Magento and Drupal templates and themes alike. For the purposes of this article, Joomla is used as the CMS example.

As a JoomlArt Moderator and Support Team Member, I frequently see questions and issues within the Community Forum and Support Tickets from Members with regard to some having difficulty to successfully perform a QUICKSTART INSTALLATION. Many users simply want to either replicate a virtual clone of a template's demo showcase, or have just certain aspects of their site to look/function "just like the demo."

The value of a Quickstart Installation

In a nutshell ... being able to begin the modification/customization process from a virtual clone of the template demo as a starting point.

Admittedly, when first starting to work with Joomla, it is easy to be resistant to utilize a Quickstart installation for a template. Some don't like the thought of having to install another complete installation of Joomla - be it locally with XAMPP/WAMP or on one's web server. It is also understandable why more intermediate/advanced Developers might prefer to start with more of a "blank slate" insofar as a feeling of "complete control" over the creation of their own structures and content from scratch.

This is a guest post by Tom Crawford, an independent web designer, developer and consultant since 2005. He is active Developer member since 2007 and is currently official JoomlArt Moderator/Support member.

There are many available tools to help make web development projects – such as modifying and customizing your JoomlArt Template based websites - quicker and more productive. Aside from a handy text editor like Notepad++ or WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver, you can find plenty of FREE tools and utilities that can greatly increase development speed, reduce testing time, and improve quality of the output.

The tools described below are a variety of utilities, optimizers, and testing tools aimed towards helping developers create websites more efficiently.

Notepad++

Notepad++ is a fairly powerful; multiple-language supporting; code auto-completing; multi-view, multi-document creating; macro recording; regular-expression-using code editor that should be on every web developer's desktop. I still have a hard time believing that this little beauty is free.

Is Facebook comment more engaging?

Today we are trying out something interesting. We switch on Facebook comment for the few next posts to be used parallel to our in-house comment system and want to get a feel of how users react on this move.

Why use Facebook comment now?

Due to the fact that our Facebook fan base is reaching 5.000 users we thought it makes sense to allow people to interact and express their opinions using Facebook comment system. This way ideas are spread more broadly and will attract more interactions from friends outside of JoomlArt's loyal readership.

What is good if we use Facebook comment?

1. It is more engaging and we are reaching more people outside Joomla guys as well. It allows FB followers of a commenter on our blog post to read/like/share, which would not be visible to those followers with traditional comment system.

2. Good for decreasing our page size. By using FB comment plugin it will take down the css and loading time from our site, as it loads external sheets and files.

3. Because of Facebook's impressive statistics

JA T3 Framework hotfix for Joomla 1.7 upgrades

Dear members & friends,

Looking to the difficulties faced by our members in upgrading to Joomla 1.7 from current joomla 1.6, we release a quick hotfix for T3 plugin (version 1.3.0 beta). Testing is on full swing and we are committed to release the Joomla 1.7 compatible products (extensions & templates) at an earliest.

Why is the delay?

Based on our earlier experience (joomla 1.6), we waited for the stable release of Joomla 1.7, so that we have to release less versions in quick sucession. As quick version release for templates adds to more work on the member side as he she has to redo his / her customization.

Due to active development most of the templates / extensions already have already code edits (bug fixes / improvements) committed in svn, which needs to be tested apart from testing for Joomla 1.7 compatibility. So most of the releases might be bug fix plus J 1.7 compatible. This process doesn't allow us to give exact timeframe for releasing each product.

During last week we have released bug fix updates for 18 of our Joomla 1.6 templates making them compatible for Joomla 1.6.5, which brings them very close to Joomla 1.7 compatibility. So its just matter of time, mainly for testing.

Delivering high quality products is what we strive for.

Great news. According to plan, Joomla 1.7 has been released today, you can get it on Joomla.org. Major enhancements in the new version include: the ability to define custom search presets, better protection against form manipulation through automatic validation, language specific font settings, and more. Upgrading is painless and takes you only ONE CLICK.

With Joomla 1.7 the user community placed a large emphasis on making the CMS installation process as simple as possible and new versions more frequent. This will allow users to more easily and frequently migrate to the latest version of Joomla, and take advantage of all the security benefits [...]

We apologize for any inconvenience and a lack of proper communication for the Drupal club so far. Internally we have been working really hard to create a new basetheme that will facilitate the theming process both for customers and for our team as well.

As with any CMS Drupal has it’s own standards and guides how to work with it and apparently we needed a bit more time to really dive deeper into it’s system. Drupal has a very steep learning curve and provides a very flexible and complex theme layer and API.

Finally we got it out! Surely you have noticed from the homepage that we have changed the design several days ago. Thanks to the design team for their creative effort to improve accessibility for visitors. This is a major design refinement since our Joomla site update from June 2010.

I believe users are always the best UI/UX experts you can ever find. They are telling you the truth that are translated in your analytics data. Study them and you cannot go wrong. So what are the MAIN ACTIONS we want users to do when they visit our site?

I'd like to share some thoughts about clear desired actions a visitor would ideally follow depending on how far he is already engaged with JoomlArt!

Upgrade to Joomla 1.6 or stick with J1.5?

There has been a lot of confusion around Joomla 1.6 recently. After 3 years of heavy coding this major upgrade has been finally released in early 2011. Right now many users are wondering what 3rd party support for J1.6 will look like in the next months. Does it make any sense to start a website in J1.6 at the moment? How long should I wait until making any movements for my clients?

This is how the development plan for coming Joomla core versions look like. Based on that it might be easier for you to make judgements whether and when to upgrade or build new sites in J1.6 for your clients.
