Coors Light Classic this weekend

The Jordan Brewers will host the Coors Light Classic this weekend at the Mini-Met.

The hometown nine will welcome Cold Spring, Dundas, and Shakopee to Jordan for three days of amateur baseball.

The concession stand will have food and beverage specials.

On Friday, Shakopee plays Dundas at 6 p.m. followed by the Brewers playing Cold Spring.

Jordan and Dundas open the action at 11 a.m. Saturday followed by Cold Spring and Shakopee at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, Cold Spring and Dundas play at 3 p.m. followed by Shakopee and Jordan at 6 p.m.

Kohls schedules forum in Chanhassen

A forum with gubernatorial candidate and state Rep. Paul Kohls is being planned at the Chanhassen Recreation Center from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1.

Local community leaders will be representing their constituency in a forum with Kohls.

The forum will be open to the public. People interested in submitting a question to for Kohls can e-mail it to the Villager. Send questions to editor@chanvillager.com.

The forum is being planned by former Chanhassen city councilor Bob Ayotte.

Washington DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approx 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

4 minutes later:
the violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the till and, without stopping, continued to walk.

The City of Jordan is now currently accepting applications for new fire fighters. Fill out an application at city hall, we will be hosting try outs on July 25, 2009 at the fire station. More details will follow.

Lakeshore properties dominate appeals at county meeting

Although most property owners are now seeing their estimated values fall on county valuation notices, there are exceptions, notably along the lakeshore in Prior Lake.
Not satisfied with answers given at their city or township panels, ten property owners appealed valuations on Tuesday to the Scott County Board of Appeal and Equalization. Half of complaints dealt with lakeshore properties in Prior Lake.

Victoria Republican focuses on party endorsement

Some political observers are placing state Rep. Paul Kohls, a Republican from Victoria, in the “not-so top tier” of gubernatorial candidates, but he’s not listening to them.

Instead, the four-term state representative said this week that he is relying on perseverance and a message that resonates with delegates to secure his party’s nomination for governor.
