ART&FAIT formally known as Colyfoli - new name and branding design

Here it is! The new identity for my handmade jewelry business, formally colyfoli, now ART&FAIT. I was never completely satisfied with the old name and logo design but, when I started out, I needed something fast and didn't put too much toughs into the branding. Since I am currently completing a two years degree in graphic design, I did my own branding as a school project. Here's a small infographic that somewhat explains the creative process of the new brand identity, business cards and collaterals to come soon. I've created it for my new Behance account, my favorite source of inspiration. Softwares used: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign.

Changements

Le changement. Parfois il se fait naturellement, parfois il faut le provoquer. Parfois il est rapide, parfois il prend son temps. Parfois excitant, souvent inquiétant. Un pas vers l'inconnu, l'incertain, dans l'espoir d'un meilleur lendemain. Le confort, le quotidien, le famillier et l'habituel sont certes très agréables mais non-permanents. S'y ancrer obstinément est de succomber à nos peurs, les laisser gagner sur nos rêves, nos envies ...

Je rattrape un peu le temps qui s'est écoulé depuis ma dernière publication. Depuis beaucoup c'est produit dans ma vie. J'ai voyagé, j'ai peint, j'ai dessiné, j'ai pensé, j'ai douté, je suis tombée et me suis relevée. Tout ça m'a apporté à faire des changements. Le plus important est que j'ai fait un retour aux études à temps plein après 15 ans. J'ai entrepris une formation de 2 ans en infographie. Ce qui me laisse moins de temps pour faire des bijoux, peindre et partager mes création sur mon blog. Mais, j'apprends plein de choses passionnantes à propos de sujets fascinants. Le language visuel. La typographie. Le traitement d'images et photoshop. J'adore mes cours! J'ai hâte de démontrer mes réalisations et mon savoir-faire nouvellement acquis.

First polymer clay beads

My African Safari in Tanzania

In June 2012 I had the most wonderful chance to join two of my friends in Tanzania, Africa for a Safari. This is one of last year's event I am the most grateful for. It is the best trip I had in my life. The wildlife, the scenery, the culture, the learning experiences ... everything was so enriching, new and unique. Here's a few favorite pictures of my adventure:

Rétrospective personnelle sur 2012

2012 m'a donné de grandes joies, du bonheur et 2 magnifiques voyages mais j'ai aussi traversé de dures épreuves. Je dois dire que je suis très heureuse de la mettre derrière moi cette année, même si réellement, ce n'est que le temps qui continue d'avancer. Je ne crois pas aux résolutions de la nouvelle année. Pour ma part, les améliorations, les changements les introspections sont quelque chose que je pratique tout au long de l'année.

Ce fut une année rocambolesque avec des extrêmes opposés! Si je résume, j'ai vécu de grandes remises en question sur le plan personnel, professionnel et affectif. Comme beaucoup, beaucoup de gens autour de moi d'ailleurs (serait-ce le début de la trentaine dans notre cas???). Avec les gens dont j'ai eu la chance d'en discuter; j'ai perçu que c'était assez généralisé comme affirmation: ce fut une année difficile. Peut-être n'avons nous pas eut de fin du monde collective comme le prévoyais les Mayas avec la fin de l'existence terrestre. Mais peut-être que tous et chacun avons vécu une "fin du monde" personnelle? Comment fût 2012 pour vous?

Sans entrer dans les détails de ma vie personnelle, je me suis sentie seule comme jamais auparavant, j'ai vécu beaucoup de culpabilité, d'interminables questionnements, de peine et de tristesse. Je vivais au jour le jour pour éviter le grand vertige que m'apportait de penser à demain. J'étais comme en état de survie. Autour de moi d'autres gens vivaient des drames beaucoup plus ou tout aussi grands que les miens. Cela m'a apporté à remettre les choses en perspective et à dé-dramatiser un peu en me disant que pour tous et chacun, nos drames nous semble toujours plus grand puisque ce sommes nous qui les vivons. Je suis restée reconnaissante d'être en vie, d'avoir la santé, un logement et d'être entourée de gens qui m'aiment. J'ai dû me détacher de mes émotions qui trop souvent, prennent plus de place qu'elles ne devraient pour arriver à voir tout ce que j'avais et toutes les opportunités de changement qui s'offraient à moi. J'ai aussi réalisé qu'en vivant un jour à la fois; je suis beaucoup plus forte et que je suis capable de surmonter beaucoup plus d'obstacles que je ne croyais possible. J'ai gagné de la confiance. Si on m'avait dit à l'avance au début de l'année TOUS ce que j'aurais à traverser, je crois sincèrement que j'aurais baissé les bras.

Quoique je n'avais pas besoin d'aller chercher très loin pour des sources d'inspiration et des modèles de courage, je me suis souvent rappelé cette citation de Frida Kahlo que j'aime tant:

"At the end of the day we can endure much more that we think we can." (À la fin de la journée, nous pouvons endurer beaucoup plus que nous le croyons.)

I decided to bake christmas sugar cookies s a gift for family and friends this year. I took the recipe here and they turned out .... mmm delicious! They are quite simple to bake, don't need much ingredients, just a little creativity and patience with the icing part. It was my first time decorating with icing, not so bad hey?

Dimanche: brunch chez Edgar

Dimanche dernier, j'ai fait une belle découverte locale en allant "bruncher" accompagnée de mes amies chez Edgar. J'ai eu un coup de coeur pour ce petit resto mignon comme tout, convivial à souhait, le personnel chaleureux et souriant, leur menu alléchant et bien sur, leur cuisine délicieuse à bon prix.
