Google Chrome OS announce is not a surprise

Google announced yesterday Google Chrome OS on their blog. But this move toward the OS market was expected since the release of Android last year. This post from Venture Beat published last January showed how some geeks made Android works on a eeePC Netbook.

Turning a corner?

A very interesting interactive info-graphic from the New York Times that suggests that the economy is turning a corner. The Blue line represents industrial production and the Orange line O.E.C.D indicators like consumer confidence. As they say, these indicators turn before the economy does. So they provide a preview of where the economy might be in a few month. This last sentence sounds like a prediction that realizes by itself. I hope it will

Impact Of Home (Y-A Bertrand’s Movie) On European Election

I’m curious of the impact of Home (Yann Arthus Bertrand’s Movie) released last Friday on the European election that took place today. At least in France, we notice the higher score for an Ecology party (around 16 % according first estimations). I’m sure the movie release and all the buzz around Environment’s protection the days before the election played a role in this good score. Even if it’s for the sake of saving our planet, it’s propaganda.

Interesting Report Published On Web Privacy

KnowPrivacy published an interesting report on Web privacy:

One of the key findings is that “Users lack awareness of some data collection practices”. And even if I was aware of such practices, I’m disappointed by the Privacy Policy analysis below:

So 100% of the 50 most visited Web Site collect IP address. And it is unclear for most of them, what they do with it: Data retention policy is unclear for most of the sites.

The bottom line is that every web user should at least periodically start to use privacy protection tools like TOR. And also we should start to use alternative search engines like ixquick that doesn’t collect IP address.
