St. Patrick’s Day Mini Chocolate Guinness Cupcakes

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day today, I decided to bake up some mini cupcakes made with Guinness coupled with some Bailey’s Irish Cream frosting. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I didn’t have any Bailey’s at the house so I improvised. Luckily, I did have Jameson, and it is an Irish whiskey — so I added that instead and I think it turned out pretty tasty.

The cupcakes itself aren’t overly sweet, which I love, and the frosting on the top adds a bit of kick that you’d come to see from something that has a delicious whiskey to it. I’m not much of a baker since I’m not into measurements much, but I managed to pull this off. This may give me more confidence to do more baking.

Maybe beer bread next? What type of beer works best in beer bread? Leave a comment below with your suggestions.

If the name wasn’t this, this blog is all about Manny Pacquiao — and after his win against Joshua Clottey last weekend it’s only fitting to see what Manny does next. As planned, he’ll be running for a seat at Congress in the Philippines. If he wins, last weekend may have been the last time you’ve seen greatness. Hopefully, he can multitask his way to one more fight with Floyd Mayweather.

Manny Pacquiao “Bangs!” to a 12-Round Unanimous Decision

OK, I know some people may have come out of that fight a bit disappointed since Manny didn’t knock Joshua Clottey out — but I’m not one of those people. Clottey naturally fights from a shell, and tonight — he never wanted to peak out. Scared to take chances because he knows that Pacquiao only needs one moment to knock him out. That’s what Pacquiao does to the most amazing fighters; he reduces them to nothing.

To me, this was a pretty impressive fight to put a guy on the defensive for 12 rounds with your blinding speed. He literally didn’t give Clottey a chance to get into a rhythm or punch. Pacquaio threw 1231 punches!

were you able to get tickets for the either of the conan shows? ticketmaster isn't saying that the dates are sold out, but i keep getting a "no exact matches were found" message for both dates and i just selected 2tix/any price..... boo. :-(

What a bummer. I was going to get 2 tickets too when I got home — but I guess that’s out of the question. Seems like a hot ticket I guess. We should tell them to Ustream it and write a blog post afterwards.

Tumblr Charging $1 for Something Amazing?

What are they planning? The Tumblr community is always seeking recognition, which was evident when they launched Tumblarity, the Directories, Tumblog Tagging, etc. Everyone wants to be noticed and heard — that’s the whole point of blogging, right? I know I do.

We’re seeing glimmers of revenue generating models popping up from the Valentine’s Day program to the $9 promotion in the directories — and I’m guessing partnerships with larger organizations also provide a bit of cash flow as well. Now, after reading Fred Wilson’s blog — Tumblr seems to have a $1 thing that I would be happy to pay for. What is it though?

What would people pay $1 for on Tumblr?

- Advertisements on other tumblogs (creating an advertising network)?
- Featured placements throughout the site?
- Paying larger tumblogs to reblog posts (hope not)?
- Avatar add-ons shown on the dashboard?
- Tumblogs creating custom e-gifts to sell to their community?
- Allowing users to upload 1 song per day?

Question: What do you think Tumblr will be charging $1 for?

Microsoft Coming Back Strong with Courier

For the first time in a while, I’m kind of excited to see what’s happening in Redmond. From watching the innovative TED Talk about Bing Maps to the new Windows Phone 7 Series — everything seems to be pointing positive for them in terms of innovation (however small it may be in comparison to it’s size).

Another product I’m pretty excited for is Courier — their challenger to Apple’s iPad. Microsoft’s key strength is software and it’s something I think they’ve lost site of. Although, after watching this video they seemed to have thought this through. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s exciting that they’ll be shipping later this year — not years from now. I can’t say how many times I’ve seen “concepts” come out of Microsoft to just only disappear.

I already know I’m not going to get the first version of the iPad, so it’ll be interesting to see more details about Courier like price points, features, etc. Looks like 2010 is the year of the tablet?

Another Cool Chrome Extension - Rapportive

The first Chrome extension that made me say wow was Extension.fm. Basically what it does is copies all the locations of the songs found on blogs and puts them in a nice iTunes like fashion right on your desktop. It’s genius and I use it everyday.

Now, today I found out about this new extension called Rapportive from David Lifson’s blog which made me do a double wow! I don’t know what the details are, but it basically finds all the social information for the people you e-mail and shows it right in your Gmail or Google Mail (if you use Apps). Instead of looking for Twitter accounts and Linkedin profiles for the folks you’re connecting with — it does all that for you and presents it right then and there. It’s genius and I think I’ll be using it everyday. :)

I’m pretty excited about Ignite Seattle 9 tonight at the King Cat Theatre. They’re charging $5 this time around, but I think that’s definitely worth the price of admission. I’ve been to several Ignites in the past and they’ve always been funny, informative, and a lot of fun.
