Trick when searching the internet!

Here i write this for all those who want to know more about searching the internet!
What search engine you are using? Google? Yahoo? MSN? OR Ask?

I would recommend you all to use Google, as it is the search engine with LARGEST database then other search engine company. And im using it since 6 years ago and Google never disappoint me!
And of cause the iGoogle function also make me happy everyday!

So, the tips and trick below is useful for google search page, not very sure the same trick can apply on other search engine or not!

Search something accurately, like you want to search for hand foot and mouth disease , im sure you do not want pages with only a word foot, mouth, hand that totally not relevant appear in front of you rite! So, use the sign quote " " to help you! Like: typing "hand foot and mouth disease" in the search bar will make sure sites with the specific phrase shown on the result page.

Eliminate keywords that you dont want to see or irrelevant. This can be done by adding a minus sign - before the word you dont want to see. Like if you search for megaupload download, i will appear with sites that teach you how to bypass the megauplaod limit, that you wont want to see. So you can do so by entering megaupload download -bypass and again you wont get pages with the word bypass in your result.

Read a site that is dead or offline. Most of the time, you will find that the page you want to reach is temporary offline or cannot be viewed. If the page contain something you want to read, you can do so by viewing the chached page done by google. Click on the Cached link below of every result, and it will bring that to what google had capture on the website before it went down. But keep in mind that Google's Crawler will crawl for website update frequently, site that closed for too long will be not available in the search result as Google might be already removed it.

Read fast ,find much. Sometimes when you search for something, dont just read the first page or first few page of the search result. Skim through as many page as possible and you MIGHT get something you want at the end of the search result. Sometimes i would read until the 100th page of the result to get something i want!

Search a specific site. You can do so by adding site: followed by the url you want to search. Example will be SPM Tips site:edu2.joshuatly.com and you will only get results from my blog.

Search a spesific type of file. Sometimes you may want to search for a document, .doc file, pdf files, powerpoint? You can get it via google! Just add filetype:ppt after your keyword. Like MUET in pdf file.

Translate whole webpage. Sometimes you might need some information on some sites who not write in language that you understand, you can use Google to help you to translate the whole page into English or specific language. Use Translate this page link that available on some page. OR use Google Language Tools page to help you!

Look for Refine results and Searches related to! Sometimes, there will be refine result that suggest by google in order for you to search more accurately. Use them wisely and this will save your time and effort. Example of results containing Refine results that appear on the top of the result page and Searches related to that appear on the bottom of the result page.

Be aware to everything in front of your eye. Sometime Google will really help you much. This can be prove by if you care enough for everything on the page, any link, including sponsor links will help you much! Just like the search the keyword megaupload , you can click the links of tab on the blue ribbon just below the logo which will bring you to the web search, video search, group search and blog search! One more example will be if you search for a specific term like hand foot and mouth disease, you will get to the definition page directly if you click the button on the blue ribbon and as well as search the news also!

Playing with Wildcard search. Sometimes wildcard will bring you to some place you never think of. Just enter the wildcard sign * to replace any word! Just like i * a boy and you will get something fantastic!

More fun on Google-ing . You may get something useful directly without access to any external site from google. Like the Calculator. Type in 100+256 and see what will you get!

Instant currency conversion. Using google you can convert currency immediately, without accessing to other website. Like i want to convert 60 USD to MYD, you will get the result immediately. But the conversion wont be very accurate as the currency flow and not fixed.

huh... well, i think thats all i wanna to write for today, hope you will gain some information after reading it! You will discover even MORE when you are using Google more frequently!

Many students find themselves in a pool of confusion when they study mathematics. Most of them find it very difficult to understand why such a formula is used, why such a method is applied, or how such an answer is obtained. If you are going through something similar, here are some tips to help you bypass the bewilderment that is Mathematics:

1. Purchase several good reference books and workbooks.
If you are not sure which book to purchase, do get some advice from your Mathematics teacher.
2. Analyse each sample solution given in the books.
This takes time, but as you analyse the solution, you will actually begin to understand how and why the question is solved in that manner.
3. Understand concepts. Mathematics is all about concepts.
Talk about algebra, it is about concept. Talk about trigonometry, it is about concept. If you understand the concept of the topic, you have won half of the battle.
4. Practise. Clichéd as it is, practise makes perfect.
With practice, you would understand the logic of using this formula or that method. You would then able to easily identify and apply the correct formula or method to effectively tackle each of the problems.
5. Last but not least, ask should you have any questions.
You may approach your teacher or even your friends. Show them your working and where you are stuck at, and request for their assistance.

Remember, nothing is unsolvable. Mathematics, I was once told, is all about one’s creativity. A question can be solved using many different methods, just like a situation can be viewed from many perspectives. With determination, success in mathematics is yours. Happy mathematic-ing!

STPM result out on next tuesday!

STPM Result 2007 will be coming out on the coming tuesday, 11/3/2008 according to the star online:

STPM results out on Tuesday

PETALING JAYA: The Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results will be released next Tuesday.

Malaysian Examinations Council public relations officer Khawari Idris said school candidates could obtain the results from their schools from noon.

“Private candidates will receive their results through the post,” he said in a statement.

Candidates can also check their results via SMS by keying in STPM, followed by space and their identity card number and sending it to 39003 or online at http://www.mpm.edu.my from noon on Tuesday.

An analysis of the results will be available on the same day, he added.

A total of 66,047 candidates sat for the examination last year.

Same as SPM, you can check any scholarships available by visiting DoctorJob .

For STPM one still not confirmed yet and i think is around that week also.
Just wait for the news la!

If you all want to apply for JPA scholarships, can do so by visiting their website at:

Im planning to get you all a file hosting server for you all.
Coz i know that free file hosting that i had used for previous years like mediafire, turboupload, divshare and all stuff... that bring many problem to you all(like cannot download, server down,etc.)

Now im planning to buy a hosting server that is in Malaysia and can provide FAST speed and EASY download to you all.

Firstly, i need to explain to you all WHY i write this post and USES of my web hosting.

I use my hosting to host mainly files and documents on SPM and STPM tips and questions.
Due to high bandwidth, my files will expired very fast on any free file hosting and not everyone can download from those free file hosting website.
Free file hosting website will experience frequent downtime.
Im still a student and have NO income except income from advertiser that is very very little.

Well, lets talk about what spec of my hosting needs:

5 to 10 gb disc space
80 to 100 gb bandwith per month
many people can connect together at one time and get fast download speed also
No domain needed
*SPEED and BANDWIDTH is important to me

And the PRICE:

From my survey i had done, the price is from RM150 to 350++
depends on different service provider

Since i had spend money and my time to do all these blog and tips, i can really say that i have not enough money to support my blog if i want to do so. Not even enough if my advertisement income had DOUBLED.

If i really want to do so, i would need to collect some money from you all to maintain this. I will like to know that which method you all prefer to help me to get money to maintain this.

When EST become an option

Well, i just get news from my school that EST had become an optional subject and students can choose to Take OR Drop!

I had taken SPM by 2006, and we MUST take EST as a teras subject.
In my opinion, EST is not a very difficult subject as long as you speak and read english.

But as i know the silibus had changed and i dont know the new silibus had been changed to more easier or harder.

But if you drop the subject, the only difference is:
One MORE A's OR Cant Get An A's

IF you still deciding wanna to take or drop, here i can "help you to decide"
ONE QUESTION: Do you feel that you manage to get an A's for this subject?

Confuse for the format use for report?
Actually i got totally no idea, but some advice from me. (As i taken my test last year!)

Well, EST is a really troublesome subject, coz at my time, no reference for me. All format and stuff i dont know.
