It’s Sunday and the boys are out, my eldest is out of town for a summer holiday and my youngest was at work. Since hubby and I were so busy cleaning and rearranging the house for almost a week now after the renovation, we decided to take a break and eat out for lunch. We’re not a big eater and Jollibee is the nearest fastfood and there we off. Chicken Joy and mushroom pasta with coffee float and we are solved. lol.. I love Jollibee’s fried chicken and spaghetti ever since I tasted them years ago and now their newest menu, pasta with mushroom sauce, another addition to the list of my favorites. I ordered 2 coffee floats each cost 45 pesos but the food crew said I can just add 25 pesos to upgrade from the soda that was included at their value meal package to coffee float which I did. Jollibee’s service crews are very courteous and well-trained with good customer relationship which is one reason besides good food of their success in this business. Definitely crew applicants are screened properly after submitting kfc application before hiring.

This was the resto in Baguio, the 50′s Diner that my son and his friends chanced upon when they visited last January. It was early morning but the place was already teeming with people all lining up to get their orders, they went there to have their breakfast before proceeding to their itineraries of visiting different landmarks in Baguio and they were surprised at the humongous servings they got of their food and not just big but delicious and cheap, felt like they buy gold online. lol

My son who’s a big eater, for the first time wasn’t able to finished his food. Just look at some of the photos above to know what I mean.

Lunch at Barrio Fiesta, this was before Mother’s Day. I bought 2 vouchers for these menu of two fried chickens, 2 seafood rice and two 1.5 l of coke in time for the birthday of my youngest son. Since we cannot leave the house as there was construction going on, we decided to just celebrate at home and ordered. The food voucher I ordered will expire soon, so instead of just letting the money went down the drain, the whole family trooped to the mall where the resto is located. We sat down at 11:30 and unfortunately the food was served an hour after with 3 follow-ups for our order. It seems one of the servers assigned to us forgot to feed our orders to the computer. I don’t want to think that it was because we’re using vouchers instead of cash was the cause of delay. Anyway, the fried chicken is tender and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. The seafood rice was okay but nothing spectacular, we enjoyed our rare family eat out and forgot to discuss topics like at home paternity test.

Those of us who know how to appreciate food but lack the culinary skills to dish out a decent tasting meal, should be thankful for seasonings that cover for our shortcomings. Aside from salt, pepper and sugar, MSG is one seasoning that can help you create flavorful meals in your kitchen even with very little cooking skills.

It doesn’t matter if you are preparing a soup, sauce, marinade or an entire dish, you will definitely have use for Ajinomoto (MSG). It is recommended for salty and sour dishes as it is able to enhance the flavor of these dishes. The sweet or bitter dishes on the other hand have little or no benefit from this seasoning.

Individuals who are gifted with culinary skills or people who know their way around the kitchen will not have any trouble in estimating the right amount and combination of seasonings to put in a dish. It is also easy for them to counter or correct any taste mishaps while cooking.

In the case of those who barely know their way in the kitchen, Ajinomoto can be a lifesaver. You can get your ordinary dish to taste better with a single dash of MSG. So if the dishes you prepare often turn out to be bland and unsavory meals, just whip out your Aji and say hello to tasty dishes.
