Well that was something of a flat end to the season wasn't it? Sunday was about as poor as we've played this season. It's frustrating because it's not like this was the usual dead rubber end-of-season-game that we've become accustomed to over the last decade. As it happens, whatever the result had been - it would have been irrelevant given that Spurs and Arsenal both won anyway.

There are no words. There really are no words. I've watched "that" goal about 30 times since 10pm last night. I was lying awake long after midnight just watching it on a loop on YouTube. I'm not even going to try and describe it. There are people out there far more qualified than me to do so - and even they are struggling..

It's becoming difficult to think of a decent opening paragraph for this now as this season is just getting ridiculous - not the usual 'Newcastle United ridiculous' where we end up imploding or have our own team fighting amongst each other but 'ridiculous' in the sense that we are upsetting the usual top 5 gravy train on a consistent basis.

Well that Bank Holiday weekend was a joy to behold was it not? Two games, two wins, four goals, none conceded - and Hatem Ben Arfa. And Papiss Demba Cisse too for that matter. Also, five games and five wins, a feat we haven't achieved for six years. Who'd have thunk it?

You know when, as a football fan, you have one of those days when you feel like the whole world is against you? When you feel that everything that can go wrong does go wrong? When you feel like you can't buy any luck? Well Sunday was the complete opposite. As I left the ground with the reprobates I attend the games with, I think we all agreed that this was the most satisfying result of the season - perhaps more so than the derby win at the Stadium of Carrier Bags Blowing in the Wind and the home game with Man Utd.

I don't think I've seen a better 45 minutes for a long, long time from Newcastle United as I did on Sunday. The pace, power and movement from the boys up top was a joy to behold and we were fully worth a 3-0 lead at half time.

An industrious win is the term I'd use to describe the game against Norwich. We certainly made hard work of it, but thankfully came away with three points to cement our top six place for the next week or so at least.

Those were the words screamed at TVs by those of a Black and White persuasion. I slammed my pint of lemonade (same price as a pint of lager in my local...staggering) down in disgust. I tried to tot up in my head where 5 minutes had come from. Perhaps it was down to van Persie spending the whole game blocking Timothy's goal kicks. I couldn't work it out though, and lo and behold, into the 5th minute and Arsenal hit us with a sickening sucker punch to win the game.

Well that's that over and done with for another season thank goodness. I've never liked derby day. They are horribly tense affairs and defeat is unthinkable. Thankfully, we've not had to suffer too many of those in recent times, whereas our chums down the road have had to suffer it more times than they'd like. Yesterday probably felt like a defeat for them after holding on for so long.

Well that was pretty frustrating wasn't it? When you're 2-0 up against a club in all kinds of disarray, you'd be forgiven for thinking "How many more?" as opposed to having to analyse us throwing away two points and completely capitulating. That said, I don't really want to talk about the match. Not because it was a poor performance all around or the fact that we were perhaps fortunate to come away with a point - but it's the fact that we've got a section of fans that enjoy a good boo.

It is with some reluctance that I have to sit and write this after the tonking we took from what can only be described as a simply superb Spurs side. I'd go as far to say as they look to be a better team than both the Manc sides. A combination of pace, power and strength across the whole pitch left us licking our wounds, and the contest was effectively over after 4 minutes.

So it goes on. Our brilliant season continued at the weekend as we turned Villa over at home for the second time in two seasons having basked in our relegation in 2008. We've developed something of a vendetta against Villa since then, and it feels very sweet to beat them and see them hover in mid-table.
