The [...]]]> We’ve got some great news – Governor Deval Patrick will be joining us at our next meeting! Please join us this Wednesday, January 27th, in Jamaica Plain, at 5:45pm to meet the Governor and talk about the upcoming election. (Please note this is earlier than usual; the Governor will be with us until 6:45pm).

The Governor is joining us to discuss the upcoming election cycle, the accomplishments of the past 3 years, his plans for 2010, and how we as organizers and progressives in JP can play a role in the campaign. Most importantly, he wants to hear from you about what are you hearing and seeing, and what’s on the minds of JP voters.

We know that the best campaign meet voters and organizers where they live. The best campaigns organize early to build the kind of strong foundation that is needed in this difficult political climate. We are excited that the Governor is doing just that, in our neighborhood, with our help and advice — and we hope you can join us in getting organized for the upcoming year.

The meeting will be at a new location this Wednesday, January 27, at 5:45pm. Because of limited space, this is an RSVP-only event.

The Obama agenda is at risk tomorrow, and you can make a difference. Please Remember to Vote tomorrow. Find your Polling Place.

The JP Progressives want to pass word from the Coakley campaign that they are prioritizing Jamaica Plain for canvassing tomorrow. The campaign wants to make sure that every voter in JP remembers to vote, and you can help.

A quick update to let you know about a U.S. Senate campaign-related event happening in JP on November 21, 2009.

As we noted in the last post about Alan Khazei – this is not an endorsement of the JP Progressives, just an opportunity for you to learn more about the candidates. If other candidates for U.S. Senate want to send me volunteer/community meeting info, I’ll happily send it out as well.

So, here we go:

Congressman Mike Capuano, candidate for U.S. Senator is coming to Jamaica Plain this weekend.

Please join him at an “Open Mike” meeting to hear directly from Mike Capuano and ask him questions as he runs for the open U.S. Senate seat. The Special Democratic Primary is December 8th, 2009.

This is really the chance for JP Progressives to get out in the community, distribute the PVG that we all worked so hard on, and sign up new members. Please try to sign up for at least one – and hopefully more – of the canvassing/tabling activities listed below if you can!

September 12th – 12pm – 6pm – JP World’s Fair
We’ll be tabling at the World’s Fair, handing out flyers and signing up new members. Come work the table for an hour or two, then walk around the fair!

September 13th – 1pm – Canvassing in JP Neighborhoods
We’ll be going door to door in JP Neighborhoods, distributing the PVG flyer and encouraging people to vote in the upcoming election. We’ll provide scripts, lists, and other canvass materials – all you have to do is show up. Email for more details.

September 17th – Mass VOTE Forum
6:30 – 8pm – English High School (JP)

September 20th – Canvass – 1pm
Another JP Neighborhood canvass, same info as above. Email to sign up!

September 24th – Peace Garden Event in Egleston

October 1st – First Thursdays
We’ll have more time to coordinate this at the next meeting, but mark your calendars – the First Thursday event in October will be a great opportunity to get the word out about the PVG.
