I'm all in favor of shoring up the rotation, but 3 years/$33 million seems a bit much for Lilly. He's a solid #3/4 starter, but this just seems like Frank and Ned's way of overreacting to the negative press about the McCourt divorce and saying "See? We have money to spend. Nothing to worry about." If, as most people believe, the payroll stays the same or even goes down from last year, this is a lot of money they just spent. Looks like Ned will have to go dumpster diving for a LF for the 2011 season. Might I suggest:

The season's over and seeing as how I watched about 4 baseball games this year, I had plenty of time to Photoshop and tweak some template I found to fit my needs. I don't make things from scratch because that's how chumps do it. When it's time to eat a meal, I rob and steal. There's still plenty of things that need work so don't yell at me if something isn't working.

This blog turned a year old in June and as the bastard child of the artist formerly known as L-Ram and myself, we didn't acknowledge it. The redesign ushers in a new era in blogging mediocrity the likes of which has yet to be seen.

Stop by and leave a thug hug in the comments along with any thoughts, suggestions, or complaints, regarding the new look.

I was tempted to make the move to Wordpress like M.Brown but I'm too attached to Blogger to betray it like that. Blogger por vida ese.

Long time, no post! Between work being crazy busy and a couple of family events this month, I haven't had much time to watch Dodger games, let alone write about them. I was finally able to watch a couple of the Dodgers-Mets games this weekend, and even saw the miracle of George Sherrill pitching a 1-2-3 inning to get the win after Loney's walk-off on Saturday.

These next 10 games are going to be big for the Dodgers season. 7 against the Padres, 3 against the Giants, both teams in front of them in the NL West. The starting pitching has been unbelievable these last 5 games, and hopefully it can continue. Ferio, always the pessimist, says no and already bet me $10 that the Dodgers lose this series to the Padres. Ferio is continuing on his Dodgers boycott, thanks to the McCourt divorce, and he gets upset everytime they win because he thinks it makes it less likely that McCourt (either Jamie or Frank) will sell the team if they have a good season. What. A. Hater. I've even noticed that he's been wearing a lot of orange and black clothing lately....

About an hour away from what can be my Mexico's elimination from the World Cup, I'd like to take this moment to wish team USA a safe flight home. They exceeded my expectations by playing a fourth game in this cup, and should go home with the satisfaction that they played their hearts out.

As for the irrational, ref-blaming, ignorant, and racist fans, thank you for reminding me why I root for your team to fail. I hope you see this every time you close your eyes for the next 4 years.

I know there's a guy out there who wishes he were on the field yesterday, see if you can spot him in this pic.

It's yet to be seen how long this joy will last me but I'm enjoying it so here's a few more pics from around the interweb :)

So referee Koman Coulibaly nullified a goal for the USMNT earlier this morning and is the focus of anger of the approximate 15 futbol fans in the states.

It was a valiant effort after fighting back from being down 0-2 against world power Slovenia, but in the end Mr. Coulibaly made sure it stood at a tie. If I could, I would present him with a medal for his bravery, mostly for keeping my hopes of a 3 and out U.S. participation in this World Cup alive.

Between Mexico's sad 1-1 tie in the World Cup opener, the Dodgers getting swept at home by the Angels, and the Lakers losing 3 of 4 to the Celtics, I've been much too depressed to post. But today, I saw something that pulled me out of my funk. It is because this man is starting for the Reds today:

Aaron Harang. Yes, Aaron Harang. Why, when hes pitching against the Dogers? Because Ferio has an uncanny resemblance to him. He is the Mexican version of Aaron Harang and he knows it which is why he hates Harang. I've told him that he should go to Cincy and rob a bank and live in the Bahamas while Harang goes to jail, but I haven't convinced/liquored him up enough to get him to do it yet. Too bad its not at Dodger Stadium so Ferio can buy seats behind homeplate and freak him out. Starting at 4pm, I'm going to barrage Ferio with texts like "It must suck pitching against your favorite team" or "Damn, the ump is not giving you the outside corner today".

According to a source with knowledge of the negotiations, the Fire and Cubs are kicking around the possibility of having Chicago's MLS club play Mexico's Club America in a friendly at the Friendly Confines.

Count me in. I don't like either of the teams but streaking across a Wrigley Field soccer game is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I'll gladly trade a Lakers Finals win (especially over the hated Celtics) over a Dodgers regular season loss anytime. That being said, I want the Dodgers to stop the Braves winning streak tonight. Considering the Dodgers have Kershaw going tonight, I like their chances....

My favorite part of last night's Lakers win, was seeing a comment by an ESPN reporter that Big Baby Davis came back from the locker room with earplugs because he was tired of being heckled by Laker fans. It's not our fault he's such an easy target! Be it the nickname "Big Baby", the time KG made him cry during a game after yelling at him or taking pictures like this:

Juan Pierre Progress Report

Since its June 1st and the season is about 1/3 of the way over, I decided to check in on old friend and (blog namesake) Juan Pierre and see how his May went after his terrible April start.

He did hit .286 and collected 6 extra base hits (all doubles) in May after getting exactly 0 extra base hits in April. However, he's still hitting an abysmal .245 with a .579 OPS. That's terrible. At least, Beast Mode is on pace to steal 61 bases, so he's got that going for him, which is nice.

Considering that the Juan Pierre trade not only gave us St. Ely, but also future useful Joe Torre overworked reliever Jon Link, I'm going to have to give Ned Colletti the 1st round TKO over Ken Williams at this point in the season. Nicely done, Ned!

Its time to end the "Ramon Ortiz as 5th starter" experiment. He's been the only pitcher in the last 10 games not to have a quality start (2 times in a row now). Since we know Joe Torre does not want to use Monasterios as the 5th starter, why don't we let Jeff Weaver get a chance to be the 5th starter and let Ramon Ortiz be the long relief pitcher? Or how about DFA'ing Ortiz and bringing Charlie Haegar back for another chance. All I know is that I better not see Ortiz taking the mound in the 1st inning on May 29th, the next time the Dodgers need a 5th starter.

Also, I think its time for Ramon Troncoso to come up with some phantom injury to keep Torre from ruining his right arm. He can use our own "Jump To An Injury Mat" *patent pending

As I'm writing this, John Ely has somehow outdueled Dan Haren and is currently leading 4-1 in the 7th innning. I was already writing this game off as a loss and John Ely has somehow provided a miracle. He's only allowed 2 ER in his last 18 innings and the Dodgers have somehow gotten 3 quality starts in a row from their starting pitchers.*

Hey, Bill Plaschke, I dont wanna see anymore of your terrible "ace" articles. We have St. Ely!

*I know Bills technically didn't get a quality start last night, but I think he would have made it out of the 6th if Joe Torre would have let him so I'm counting it.
