While doing stuff out on my workbench, I am joined my little friend Harold. Harold stops by often while I do the things one does at his workbench.

Sometimes he'll even stick nearby when I'm cutting stuff up with my saw.

I like Harold, he's a really nice bird.

Breakfast at the Swallows

A mother Barn Swallow feeds the little ones while I attempt exposure with and without flash. The nest was built on top of the barns light fixture (white), with the nest itself up under the eave (dark), which made it hard to find a middle ground for the best exposure. This was tough to do without scaring all concerned. This was the first time I'd had an opportunity like this, so I found it a little difficult to focus on what I was trying to do.

I gotta practice...

The trees in my yard are evidently not as appealing as the feeders in my trees.
This is a Gila woodpecker enjoying the free eats...

Here's a closer look as he looks for trouble. (I guess)
The difference in color is due to the addition of better lighting. In this case, I added Sun!

Stalking the elusive gull

The gull walks, and I follow.

Singly and in groups, the gulls were everywhere.

Since I was having difficulties with birds in flight,

I tried to refocus my thoughts and shoot their little feet prints in the sand.

Some of the shots were taken while leaning forward and trying to balance the camera and me slightly over and behind the prints. This was awkward, uncomfortable, and in several shots; acrobatic as I pitched forward and twisted in mid air trying to avoid landing on my camera and/or face.

These were taken while visiting Warren Dunes State Park in Sawyer, Michigan.

Horse Talk

While hanging around looking for something interesting to shoot, I began to focus on a corral of horses who were about to be fed. After a couple minutes, I noticed that the horses seemed to congregate into what looked to be, several small groups (almost like little cliques). As I watched, I noticed a chocolate colored guy move toward this white guy and his clique. He approached the other horse and an equine conversation appeared to take place. At one point the white horse gave a raspberry to the other guy. As you can see, the chocolate horse took exception to the bilabial trill. The encounter ended abruptly as the food truck began its run.

American Bison

Not the only tourists visiting Old Faithful...

While sitting among the dozens of tourists on the benches in front of the famous geyser, some 20+ bison decided to join us. At times, they came within just a few yards from us. However, despite their close proximity to the dozens of tourists, no one from park management arrived to tell them to move on. So we all had a good time staring at them while they ignored us.
They can be like that, them bison.

The Wet Rose

I often have difficulty shooting flowers in the Arizona climate. The heat, the wind, and the many lovely insects that abound out here seldom make for a simple shot. So, for this rose, I went to Indiana to visit the folks, and shot it there.
I cheated on the water droplets by using a watering can.

Desert Fog

This foggy photo was taken in late January. Since there was no mention of possible fog by the weather guys, so I was quite surprised when I stepped outside. Realizing that the fog would burn off soon, I grabbed my gear and drove to the foothills south of us, where there were better views of the landscape in the fog.

The two photos shown are the same, but which one is more interesting or appealing?

I shot over 200+ images of Monkey Paw performing at the Big fish Pub. There wasn't much in the way of lighting, so I used flash for all but this one. (I don't know why) Anyway, I thought the colors and the blurred motion made for an interesting image.
