We live in a world where, at the click of a button, a guests can say what they want to the whole world without impunity and by putting it in writing some people believe it must be true. So, in order to offer a little perspective here are some of the weird and wonderful things our guests say and do. We’ve left names out so we don’t get punched on the nose and we’ll keep updating this feed as they come in………. Enjoy!

“….can’t eat a dish that’s named after the animal, so can’t eat chicken terrine because the name is in the title but can eat beef bacause it doesn’t say cow on the menu”.

Having watched an episode of Coronation Street on Monday night a guest, who was cancelling their wedding with us that was due to take place that Saturday, said to us on the Tuesday morning; “The hotel in Coronation Street last night said it would refund the deposit for the wedding that had just cancelled for Saturday, so why won’t you?”

Two days later, after the Wednesday episode of the “Corrie” the same guest rang back to say “The hotel in “Corrie” has managed to resell the date for Saturday to another wedding, so why can’t you?”

Tim’s Grand Days Out

Well, as some of you will remember, a few months ago I became a Master Innholder. As a result the door-frames at Judges have now been widened to accommodate my increasingly fat head and also because I was also going to awarded the Freedom of the City of London. This took place in London a few days ago and I am still tickled pink by it all. I’ve attached a few pictures to show, as my darling sister put it, how well I “scrub up”.

Tim becomes a Master Innholder

Well, it’s a bit immodest writing about yourself but, since I do the news feeds etc, here goes! As of last week I became a Master Innholder. This is a hugely prestigious thing in our industry (if I say so myself!) as, by becoming Master Innholder, you are being recognized as one of the best hoteliers in the country. I am very, very proud to have been accepted into this body with its association with the livery company.

As you will see Master Innholders from “up north” are a bit scarce so the plan is to have a few of us spreading the good word as well as doing our best to help promote and develop the industry as well as helping those around us who are less fortunate than us.

The handsome (or as my wife said “small”) devil standing up, fourth from the right is yours truly at the Innholders Hall.
