My apologies for not checking in sooner! 2013 has been a whirlwind so far! I’ve been working on four different manuscripts because I am cray-cray, not to mention writing new proposals and dreaming up a few novellas along the way because I like to think I don’t have enough to do. (Geez, was I always like this? Who knows? I can’t remember anything anymore).

What I do remember is that I just completed the final edits on my new contemporary, Homecoming Ranch. It has a release date slated for August 13th and I cannot wait for you all to meet Luke and Madeline and especially, Leo, whom I fell completely in love with while writing the book. I think he is my favorite character of the many I have written. When it gets closer to release time, I’ll be posting some excerpts here for you. In the meantime, my early contemporary romance series are being reissued in digital, paper and audio, with new covers, and in the case of the Thrillseekers Anonymous series, new titles!

Recently, I’ve gotten into cycling. I’ve done a couple of bike rides here in Texas. My sister and I just had to stop and snap this pic. I told my dad we found one of his old friends who asked about him. He said I was a smart ass! Who, moi?

Remember, while you’re waiting for Homecoming Ranch to be released, you can always make your summer a little steamier by picking up a re-issue of The Fancy Lives of the Lear Sisters after May 21st. Each book in the series is only $2.99 each so enjoy!

I’m proud to say that this book, originally published in 2004, was my first Scottish historical and my first RITA Nominated book. It’s also been chosen by some of my fans as the first book to read in their very own Julia London Book Club. If you haven’t read it before and you’re looking for another highlander to fall in love with, I urge you to give it a try (it is also the first book of the Lockhart family trilogy). Enjoy!

Formerly Thrillseekers Anonymous, this series is now titled, OVER THE EDGE, but they are the same great books!

Three friends own an extreme sports business that caters to wealthy adventurers. Want to be dropped from a helicopter into virgin snow and ski down mountain tops? How about be pulled out to sea and surf rogue waves in the middle of the ocean? Well these are the men you call and who love to live life on the edge. Too bad they have no clue that three women will be the ones to take them OVER THE EDGE.

I hope you like the new covers as much as I do and if you haven’t read them before will give them a chance. These books are now available for pre-order and are full length novels for only $2.99 each for digital, however, Amazon will also be making these available in audio, as well as paperback.

Sunday is Easter and the aisles, just cleared from the red and pink flood of Valentine’s candies, are now awash in pastels, bunnies and eggs. What stands out? Those evil little marshmallow critters known as Peeps and their equally evil friends, Peanut Butter Eggs. You can keep the Cadbury Eggs and chocolate bunnies – ok, maybe not the chocolate bunnies.

Admittedly, I just like to eat the candies, but there are some that take the love of Peeps to another level and create the Peep dioramas for various competitions around the country. I am amazed at what some of them come up with and how they use those adorable little marshmallow chicks.

I think I will stick to writing – and eating.

What’s your favorite Easter candy? Have you made a Peep diorama?

For a while now, I have been looking outside at the beautiful weather, the sunshine and the world starting to wake back up after winter and trying to stay motivated to work.

I’m meeting with mixed success.

Of course, I’m now suffering from allergies and all the misery associated with them because of the beautiful days and the pollen getting all inspired to float about and do its pollen thing. So now I’m torn between wanting to go out and enjoy the weather and staying in near tissues and allergy meds. This puts my keyboard and deadline reminders in full view. Is mother nature conspiring with my editors to make me stay inside and get things done? Surely not.

That all being said, I am giddy with excitement that two of my previously published novellas are being re-released as standalone e-books.

The Vicar’s Wife is a tale of scandal, jealousy and love. It was originally part of Talk of the Ton. You can pick it up on amazon.com or Barnesandnoble.com for Nook.

In a different world entirely is Lucky Charm which was one of the stories in Hot Ticket, a collection of tales featuring professional athletes. Also at amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com

So, do you like novellas as much as I do? Are you suffering from a love/hate relationship with nature thanks to allergies?

Not far from me, SXSW (South by Southwest) is in full swing and the Austin area has turned into a Mecca for artists, musicians and other creatives.

I hear it all calling to me.

Yet here I am in my home office working on deadlines and marketing and other things Julia London. Even Moose is feeling the siren’s call of the outdoors and fun.

All in all, it’s making it very hard to concentrate.

Isn’t it always the case when the first perfect days hit after winter? When I was in school it was all I could do not to skip class and go bask in the sunshine. The urge hasn’t changed much throughout the years. So now I sit here looking out the window wishing I was out there. Perhaps for a little break later. Moose needs an extra walk or run today, I think.

How do you celebrate the first perfect weather days?

If you haven’t made a trip to this gigantic gathering of all things books, you are missing out. In just two short days, thousands upon thousands of authors, readers and book lovers descend upon the city for lecture panels, autograph sessions, Q&As, food and lots and lots of books.

Yours truly will be there as a panel member and workshop leader on both days. I hope if you are in the area, you will stop by and say hello! It is always fun to go to events like this not only as an author, but as a book lover. Last year there were over 100,000 people that attended this relatively new event. Book lovers unite!

If you were to put together your own book festival, what types of things would you have there?
